Only times resources matter are when crafting Combat Modules (combat capability), Defensive Shield Modules (defensive capability), and the base resource in the final assembly (HAM Stats).
Other than this, it matters not. (yet, anyways, who knows if they will change it)
Or.. if it changed... and they didnt tell us... Or if it has always worked as designed, and we cannot really tell if it is working as designed...
Here again.. is a subjective statement... an "opinion" if you will... which, I am sorry to say, I cannot accept at face value. As I asked earlier.. How does one categorically state that there is NO benefit to experimenting and using premium resources on a Droid Brain? Or on a Droid Motive System? Or on a Droid Sensor Package? What does one use as a baseline for a proper comparative analysis? A "feeling" that "this is what it should be doing?"

I think it all comes down to if you can tell a difference or not. If you can't tell the difference but experimentation is still working, then it doesn't matter (since you can't tell the difference).
I have used all kinds of materials, some good, some bad. The only changes I have noticed in a final product are the final stats once called. Those stats were directly effected by which materials I used on the above stated modules and assembly.
I am not going to go off on a tangent and list my experimental findings on all of this. I am simply offering my own experience to the original poster. No flame to you Padilla. Just saying that if everyone posted their own apparent findings, perhaps we would understand as a whole the workings of this profession.

Jenden,
I think that you could beright... But I have to ask you this... if you can't tell the difference... is it because there is truly no discernable difference? Or is it because we dont know what we're looking for?
I personally feel that a Probot, built with a brain made to the best specs possible.. and with he best sensor package possible, stands a better chance in a firefight... Why? My own experience shows me that probots of lesser brain and sensor qualities react slower and take more damage because of it.Probots with superior brans and sensors"may" have a better sense of "self preservation" However, I recognize that this is an "opinion" and is not based in fact.
And, since I recognize that this is and opinion, I will never make a statement otherwise.

Does it really matter when making knives or clamps? Thanks!
No, it does not matter what quality resources you use to make your tools. It will not increase or decrease the quality of the slices. Slices are completely random beyond the ...
Slicing 1:
Weapon: N/A
Armor: N/A
Slicing 2:
Weapon: 10-25% Speed or Damage
Armor: N/A
Slicing 3:
Weapon: 10-25% Speed or Damage
Armor: 5-20% Effectiveness
Armor: 5-30% Encumbrance
Slicing 4
Weapon: 10-30% Speed or Damage
Armor: 5-30% Effectiveness
Armor:15-40% Encumbrance
Master Smuggler:
Weapon: 15-35% Damage or Speed
Armor: 11-35% Effectiveness
Armor: 20-45% Encumbrance
... I repeat, slices are completely random within those ranges.
