The point is that all elite Artisan trees require atleast one item that can only be made by a Master Artisan.

The reason for this is to make sure there is a "REASON" to become Master Artisan, it also to try and promote the "group play" idea that SWG has been striving for.

If you haden't noticed already, every aspect of the game says "Sure you can play solo, but its much better to work as a community by working with other players". This means, in a crafting sense, relying on other players to build the elite items ... this, in effect, makes the game a little more sensible.

A Droid Engineer should never have been one individual .. no one person should be able to develope and build every item of a Droid.

The three objects a Droid Engineer needs that doesn't come from the DE tree are:

• Power Core


• Armour panel


• Electronic GP Module

The armour panel is needed for droids that use armour and can only be made by an armoursmith ... the Power Core is needed for the Power Droid and can only be made by an architect, the Electronic GP Module is needed for the Advanced Droid Brain (which is used in most droids from Blueprints II and higher).

I've recently dropped Master Artisan and never had Architect or Armoursmith and still have no troubles being a DE. I buy the armour and power cores from two friends I have in the armoursmith and architect professions for a good price and buy the GP module schematics off of either of the above two (they both have Master Artisan). I include the price for having to purchase parts into the overal price of the droid I sell to make sure I'm still making a profit ... this way works extremly well for me and its kind of fun having "supplyers". It helps add to the immersion and RP factor of the game.

There are more than those three that the DEs need - Control Units, Micro Sensor Suites, and Electronic Memory Modules too.

MA items are required in schematics for Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Architect, and DE of course.

Personally I got MA before ever starting down the DE path, just seemed to make sense. I prefer to be fairly self-reliant. There is no way to be a very successful DE without either having MA or purchasing these items from others. And especially if you ever want to make R3 units. They require items from factory crates (read identical) to make items from factory crates (Electronic Memory Mods & GPs to make Adv droid Brain of which 2 identical are required for a R3)

The Micro Processors, the GP Units, and the Control Units are all used by Architects, as well, (in their Power Core Units, I believe). I know because I have an architect living next door to me who bugs me to make them for her all the time. So, I queued up my factory, and produced enough to last her two weeks -- I hope.

Micro Sensor Suite:

Summary: All MSS units used by Architects or Artisans are as optional components. They are required components for us. Micro Sensor Suites however requirethe GP Module, Control Unit and an Energy Distributor.

mine was working ok last night when I made up some Advanced Resilience Compounds (wooo!)

I could last night too...I charged my droid twice....still nothing....anyone else?
