there are two stats that determine what you can pull out. maximum pet level and your taming level. max pet level tells you how many creature levels you can pull out be it in a single creature or pulling multiple creatures. your creature taming level tells you the maximum level of a non-vicous creature you can pull out these are the creatures that appear as yellow dots on the radar. the taming vicous creature stat tells you how big of a vicous creature you can pull out, these appear as red dots on the radar in their wild versions.

BE pets have these same rules apply in the area that if the skin used is a vicous creature in it's wild form the vicous creature taming level applies.

you cannot pull out a pet larger than your taming/taming vicous and max pet level will allow whichever is smaller controls the max size of the critter. that is why a non-wook cannot pull out a CL51 vicous pet without skill enhancers. the vicous taming level at master is 50 for non-wooks.

max CL is not the sole determiner of what a player can pull out of the datapad.

Following that logic we should all be TKAs. Personally, I'd rather used tamed than BEd. Of course, it's always a good idea to have a few stat-heavy BE pets for serious encounters.

"Taming pants" sounds funny. Maybe I should get some to fill in the gap. Ack now THAT sounds bad.



I didn't mean to ask a difficult question--I went though previous changes to the pet tree and we all had a pretty good idea of how things were going to work even before they happened so I though y'all'd be able to get me up to speed fast!

2. Skill mods for taming non-aggressive critters and for levels fieldable are spread out evenly across all 4 branches if the CH tree.

3. Fielding aggressive critters is special and requires the taming branch, but if you don't need aggressive critters, then it doesn't matter which branch of the tree you select (assuming you don't care about the other features you get).

not sure if this helps, and disclaimer here I have not tried this in awhile.

I am MCH and not a Wookie however I have tamed pets above lvl 50 and called them without BE clothes. Mind you I use a BE 49 pet now so I have not tested this in awhile, but up to the last patch anyway I had np calling higher than lvl 50 pets.

Examining the description on the skill boxes and mods didn't do much for me either. The thing about the wookiees being the only ones who can use level 51 aggressive critters is suprising--doesn't that mean that many of the "rares" put in the game to give CHs something to do (great plains stalkers, for instance) can't be used by most species? I'd be unhappy if I weren't planning to drop the skill! Does that go for BE pets in aggressive bodies as well? Does asking more questions while still confused with the old questions complicate things? ack sorry...

unfortunately i dont have any wild over 50 pets. i do have BE pets over 50. but i also have +25 taming pants. which means i should be able to tame a CL70 critter.

i play human for species.

i recently dropped CH and rifle totally to re-do BH and i was not able to call a pet until i had the appropriate taming level even though the max pet level was more than high enough. BE pets do not follow the same rules exactly as wild pets. if the skin is nonagressive and the DNA is non agressive i can call a BE pet greater than 50 without +taming. i cannot call my cl52 BE gurreck without my +taming pants. what makes a BE pet callable or not i dont know.

but i do know that while i was leveling back to MCH i was unable to call vicous pets until i had enough taming even if i had the requisite max pet level.

And if you really want to cornfuse the issue, what exactly does the +taming level mean in terms of numbers? Is taming 2 enough for calling anything?
