Think it through.

Folks who are getting holocrons and following the jedi path aren't interested in playing that character anymore. They're interested in one thing: Jedi unlock.

The whole holocron path is to test determination and sink time. You know SOE... gotta have them time sinks. As a rule it cannot hurt the game because those who wish to play jedi-enabled characters are not normally interested in playing their regular character anymore.
