Awesome!Hope it stays this way then!
The CU with all the new armors and all the new business will be more than enough work for us armorsmiths as it is. Shifting weightings on resources as well would have been FAR too much. Why are they meddling with non-combat professions anyway? Isn't this a combat upgrade?
lol...i think we got played. looks like we were better off having OQ+UT. just by looking at the new resources req'd it will be easier and more frequent to get high OQ and UT then it would be OQ and SR

They can also just modify these new resource's stats too

if the bulk of my stuff (steel iron fiber etc) has 950+ oq/sr i dont care about the new stuff being gated at lower sr.... i wont have to wait 6 months for an adequate ferrous

i have a hollow feeling when the more advancce schematics come out the more there will be gated resources that none of us have.

Carb ores and siliclastic ores are some of the onlyresources with SR gates lower than UT gates. This is particularly true of carb ore -SR range of 1-700, UT range of 200-1000 averaged across all types. Hence, when Blitxev said UT might be better this is probably in fact true if you ignore the billions of other uber OQ/SR mineral components already in circulation in each galaxy. Its a simple change for the devs to change the gates on these ores for all future shifts if they want to to make sr a little better than ut.
The named ones the devs have chosen are have the following gates
alantium sr 1-115, ut 200-330
frasium sr 237-377 ut 470-630
malab sr 271-430 ut 316-502
ardanium sr 1-131 ut 1-152
These ranges are from swgcraft, averaged across all galaxies and all shifts so far.
The gems the devs have chosen have similar sr,ut ranges
plexite sr,ut 271-431
kerol sr,ut 536-676
laboi sr,ut 799-939
bal'ta'ran sr,ut 870-1000
Matching these up with the other components it looks like energy will be one of the poorer layers. Cold looks like it will be one of the best given JTL non ferrous has no gates. Have to see what kinetic and acid look like. I expect kinetic to end up one of the worst. They still have plenty of poor gems and carb/sil ores to choose from
Expect all of the new layers to be more like the stun ones on live with regard to max resists rather than the uber kinetic, energy, blast ones we are used to. Using low gate resources is an easy way to control max resists on stuff. Of course, given the resource crates now and nearly 2 years of shifts on some galaxies expect to see the best ores and gems so far being used for awhile.
As others have said, I wouldn't be surprised to see other low sr,ut gate resources to be present when we see the advanced seg and core schematics.
Of course, given that the devs have now agreed to swop UT back for SR they could change the layer resources around before cu hits live and use some poor intrusive and extrusive ores which do have similar ut,sr gates instead. Everything is still in a state of flux iit seems
