The most effective location to conceal your intentions is often in plain sight. Despite those that are adherent to the idea that we are pure crafters and should be nothing else, I see this as being one of the more simplistic, fairand efficient methods of introducing controls over the use of droids. This could very well be a controlled probe even in passing to see how we react to the idea.

But you must have known I was not a great fool -- you would have counted on it! So I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me!

Actually, I was joking in the prior post. I'd be the first to say people are too quick to leap to conclusions on sketchy evidence, especially when those conclusions require preposterously complex scheming and obfuscation. I'm assuming that if Sintrosi is authorized to float us an idea, the idea will be presented as such, directly.

You truly have a dizzying intelect.

I could care less about combat droids. In SW universe at least at the time we're supposed to be in, droids are mostly utility things only. So, I'd be just fine if they didn't touch the probot or added new combat droids...

BUT

Fix/enhance the utility of the droids we have. Give some usage to the data modules, greatly enhance storage modules, let us experiment on our droids, add more utility modules, provide more information on what droids do from the deed, make people want to have different types of droids, not just one super-utility droid with all the modules in. Give variety and functions for the different types of droids, etc.

I'm sorry to come out like "the li'l bitter ol' bag from hell" but continuity died the first week of release.

I would totally LOVE if this game stuck on continuity, but with zabraks everywhere you look, myriads of gurrecks/rancors/whatevers in tow and non-functioning droids that all look the same I'd say that the continuity card can't be played anymore.

That's it I guess....

Thanks for the update. It's nice to know that the devs are aware of that state of the profession and working on it. Sounds like there could be some interesting things coming... =)

Sintrosi -

Thanks for the update.

PLEASE, PLEASE, however, focus what attention you can in broken module/frame combos.

It's getting so very frustrating to sell someone a droid in a combo I hadn't tried yet and hear that one or more modules don't work in the droid.

Examples : Repair doesn't work in Protocol, Item/Data storage doesn't work in Surgicals/LE's.

And the name thing is really getting to my customers, and me - as you well know, we cannot name "talking" droids.

Thanks for your continued work,

There is NO reason to waste valuable development time building a new profession when none is needed to resolve the situation.

I wouldn't play any more. Usually won't say something like that - it's bad form - but I'd drop DE at the least, but more likely leave the game sinceDE isone of the few professions that appeals to me.

Congrats guys. Just wandered over to the DE board to see if I was gonna be buying any combat droids in the near future to balance out the ch's. I was hoping you guys would get fixed. Droids should be playing a more important role in the galaxy than they currently are.

Is there really nothing you can tell us at all sin? Cos at the minute there is pretty much nothing in the current update (well apart from a new market for scout camps and droid batteries), and the next big update will be player cities and mounts...

Does this mean we have to wait 2 full months before seeing anything at all? I wouldnt mind waiting the two months if we get something, but is it going to be 2 months? or 3... or 4...

I really dont want to surrender my Master DE skills but at the minute its a choice between surrendering these skills and doing something else till later and then re-grinding to master DE... OR cancelling my account until then and re-activating (only problem with that is, with no active subscription I will no longer have access to the forums and wont have a clue what is going on)

Any chance you could throw us a bone at all? even just a little teeny weeny one?

Just steer them away from that God awful Droid Handler idea that Holocron talked about. Even the BE's are telling us that its a bad idea. I want to be able to build AND use droids without having to go completely non-combatant.

Be careful what you wish for.

If they make DE's akin to a combination of BE and CH, we would indeed become the flavor of the week. Everyone would swarm to be a droid engineer. A great thing, you say?

Well, consider this. A BE gets most of his materials while hunting (mostly, they are meat), and a few personal hoppers generally covers their needs. A CH requires no materials. A droid engineer requires a LOT of resources to create a droid.

So, when everyone is a droid engineer, who is going to buy the droids to support the hoppers? Pay your house and factory maintanance?

Such a change would force a droid engineer into being a mission running combat character who also has to run around to maintain hoppers, and might even get to craft a bit.

With that said, I would propose a Droid Use Certification point system, with points awarded as follows:

  1. For each skill bubble in the artisan, entertainer, medic and scout professions, award one point per level of the bubble. Hence, a level 1 bubble would give one point, a level 2 bubble 2 points, etc.

  2. For each skill bubble in the marksman and brawler class, award 2 points per skill bubble per level. Hence a level 1 bubble would give 2 points, a level 2 bubble would give 4 points, etc.

  3. For each skill bubble in the Droid Engineer class, award 5 skill points per level of the bubble. Hence, a level 1 bubble in DE would give 5 points, a level 2 bubble 10 points, etc.

  4. For each skill bubble in an elite combat profession (e.g., Bounty hunter, pistoleer), award 4 points per skill bubble per level of bubble. Hence, a level 1 elite combat bubble would give 4 points, a level 2 8 points, etc.

  5. For each skill bubble in an elite non-combat profession (e.g., chef, dancer), award 3 points per skill bubble per level. Hence, a level 1 elite non-combat bubble would earn 3 points, a level 2 non-combat bubble would earn 6 points, etc.

Once the points are assigned, they would determine the rating of the droids that could be used. Obviously, tweaking would have to be done - however, this system is set up to allow both DE's and advanced combat professions to use the most powerful of the droids, while at the same time, allowing a certain amount of use for maxed out characters in other professions (on the assumption that if you have been around for a while, you pick things up).

This system would allow DE's and warriors to control the advanced droids, would keep DE from being the flavor of the week - and if we were the flavor of the week, it would ruin it for many of us as quickly as anything else. I would love to be able to use all of my own droids - but if only DE's can use uber droids, we would become just like creature handlers with a resource overhead that CH's don't have.

I wanted everyone to know that I replied to the Developer responses to our Top 5 Issues. I can't say what I said nor can I say what they said. It was pretty difficult jumping in right in the middle of response cycle but hopefully I clarified some issues to the Devs. Hopefully I can say something soon.

I can say I feel the future looks bright and if you have not, go read Thunderheart's post on the coming combat changes. You may get a hint why I feel the way I do...
