One of the reasons what they are considering cannot be discussed is because it may never see the light of day. For instance -- lets say that they have an idea to make DEs like CHs and BEs combined.Let us make the droids we can now, a few lower combat droids for customersand give us powerful combat droids that only we can use. Now if they say that and then decide not to then our hopes would be raised and then crushed (if you wanted that).

Many of us can handle and realize an idea is just an idea, but unfortunately there are many people that dont read carefully and will "miss" the statement that says "we may or may not impliment this.. we are only brainstorming here" .. and then these folk would flame away.

Anyhow thats the reason why I cant freely discuss things right now.

Just steer them away from that God awful Droid Handler idea that Holocron talked about. Even the BE's are telling us that its a bad idea. I want to be able to build AND use droids without having to go completely non-combatant.

Sintrosi,

Thanks for the head's up. I'm sure that most DEs will understand why you can't talk about what's on the horizon.

You can confirm, however, that the DE forum community will be able to see/discuss the proposed changes or additions before they are implemented?

I just want to make sure that the community will be able to assist you and the DE lead in arriving at the best possible solution (for us, other non-DE players, etc.).

Thanks in advance...

(note: you get my vote for best overall profession correspondent, hands down.)

There is NO reason to waste valuable development time building a new profession when none is needed to resolve the situation.

Please excuse my cynical, somewhat grumpy posts sometimes. I'm a DE.

Call me a cynic but Bio-engineers were promisted a lot of great changes too about two months ago. They remain the single most broken profession in SWG. DE's don't hold a candle to them when it comes to plain screwed up.

I'll believe the improvements when I see them, not before. why I play a droid engineer on one character and a bio-engineer on another is beyond me.

Yes, I can guarantee you that any decisions made by the DEVs for DE will be ran by you first, assumming they have me in the loop as well

Heh. Unfortunately, the DEs who don't understand are the same ones who wouldn't be able to understand the concept of "brainstorming."

So if Sintrosi can't talk about what they're discussing, I'm going out on a limb and inferring that they are not discussing this. ;-)

The most effective location to conceal your intentions is often in plain sight. Despite those that are adherent to the idea that we are pure crafters and should be nothing else, I see this as being one of the more simplistic, fairand efficient methods of introducing controls over the use of droids. This could very well be a controlled probe even in passing to see how we react to the idea.

I really shouldn't post after working on my Political Science paper, I sound like one of my professors.

And this would make us flavor-of-the-week

That sounds great Sinostri! That does give quite a bit of hope, and I completely understand not being able to discuss the ideas. However, there's one thing I need to argue for....

Please, please....do your best to not make us a Flavor of the Week. Anytime that happens you know you've failed, because if a class is *so* powerful that everyone suddenly wants one...then you've overshot the mark. Are Weaponsmiths Flavors of the Month? No, but they're still viable and have a definate place in the world.

That's all we need. A definate, definate place in the world. I don't want to be so overpowered that people would be silly not to have DE skills.....but I want to have a place where we truly are useful, and at higher levels, may even seem indispensible.
