Thread: CH boards
I was going to write someting conciliatory here - but stuff it.
/rant on
The CH's who are complaining have no imaginations and really can't (or can't be bothered) to look outside the box.
I'd like a level 31 creature please that looks like a snake, spits strong poison and has resists against everything.
How about an armoured flying pet?
Oh - and I want it delivered within 3 hours and for it to cost 50K or less.
I can do that, no problem - but I don't use my BE skills to do it!
Wild pets are disposable since thier 'cost' in relation to BE'ed pets is negligable. Well they are to me. They aren't to you? Does that make me "1337"? Am I "uber"? (I don't even pretend to be either of those things!)
Last time I went sampling on Dath I tamed 2 baby Rancors with rather less fuss that sticking a needle in thier parents butts subsequently caused. I now can now use them as 'disposable heroes' against the more amusing high level critters. When they finally snuff it, replacing them might take me an hour or so.........
Couple of days back I destroyed a pristine Gurreck, because I fancied the look of a CL10 bat. Still have 3 Gurrecks on my datapad and the bat was naff, so I ditched it. Anyone casually delete thier engineered pets like that?
There's always some idiot who'll complain about the slightest change that may make them modify thier playstyle.
Always some idiot who couldn't be bothered to think, look for a market niche, look at the strengths they've got and play to them.
/rant off
Sorry. Some parts of the community are really starting to get up my nose and I'm getting sick of wiping the drool off thier chins ![]()

BE's would certainly not rejoice at such a notion.

Is this gonna happen? Nah. But you can see this would totally give both professions and their customers reason to rejoice.
I'm a MCH/MBE on chilastra.
I can tell you for a fact that taming your own pets is *MUCH MUCH MUCH* more enjoyable than buying them.

It's pointless for the CH community to complain right now no matter what the system is. They just got a complete revamp. No other profession got a revamp and many of them have major issues that need to be addressed. I think the devs have put a check in the box next to CH and won't even consider doing anything further with them for many many months unless there is something that is critically affecting another profession. I also don't think BE's have anything to apologize for to a CH anyway. Of the two professions one is definitely more in tune with the continuity of the SWuniverse....guess which one?
BE's just got a revamp.. Chef's getting one sometime soon and DE's are in the works as well as a full combat overhall...Now how many CH's asked for the prof to be revamped? I think out of the whole revamp the only thing CH's agreed with was the new breakdown of the skill boxes... thats it... The rest was not a revamp, but a nerf... they weakened all wild monsters... and they halved the experience gained when controlling 2 pets... you call that a complete revamp? Nothing against BE's, I love the prof and everyone on the boards are awesome... but dont confuse the facts... CH gor one aspect reworked and 2 aspects nerfed... if they would have left monsters they way they were and redid BE the way they did you would still make better pets then what's out there, but wild pets wouldn't be = to cdef pistols... They could have capped the kinetic resist on CH pets the same as BE pets, but no wild pet can compare to all the resists BE's can effect.. HAM.. Damage... speed.. to hit... Lower CL for better pet... the nerfed the CH's with no real need to...

As BE/MCH, I can sympathize.
And I have an easy fix.
The problem is that every single critter of the same species in the wild has exactly the same stats. Every GSP is a carbon copy of every other GSP. In the real wild, this would never be the case.
So allow wild animals to vary in stats, in much the same way that engineered pets vary in stats, and we would have balance back in the galaxy. CH could hunt and tame the BEST GSP they can find. BE could engineer the BEST kitty they can build. Customers would have a choice.

Thats the best Idea I heard of on how to fix the issue... if only we could get a dev to read this!

But you know the best part about the CH forums? The little "x" in the top right hand corner is so close to click as well as the alternate ALT+F4 combo.
As far as purist stuff . . . who cares? Thats like being amish in 2004 (no knocks to the amish) but electricty is a very nice comfort.
This being said, if you could find something better, than why not?

Please explain then why it is you became a Creature Handler ?
Because that's basically what the proff is about, going out and taming creatures.
Quote right off the SWG site:
"Creature Handler: Scout trained in taming and controlling animals."
Notice the taming and controlling animals part.
It pretty much describes what the CH proffesion is about.
Being unable to tame wild creature's would be just plain dumb.
True it might be a BE's wet dream but that will never come to pass.
More content in this game would allways be good, though we all know how likely that is to happen.

One thing I will mention reguarding forums, I see far far far more elitest and snobbish type remarks here on this BE forum than I ever saw on the CH forum. Makes me embarassed a lot of times to admit I'm a BE because I wonder if I'll get associated with the type of snobbery I see on here so often.

A collector class? A combat class? A little of all three?
I know other professions need to be revamped badly, but I can't help but feel the slightest bit depressed knowing that Creature Handler isnow a broken profession that barely has a place anymore...

"Maybe CH is not the combat-master class it used to be"
CH was never the combat-master class.
It has just taken the main stream this long to realize the true power classes.
CH has been over nerfed, way way over nerfed. It needs a bit of buffing. At the very least, rare tamable pets need to be something other than a status symbol.

Well, after the Creature Handler revamp, the only real good thing that came of it was the tree restructure. Everything else has been a slap in the face so far.
Tameable's stats were brought way, way down, and there is still no consistancy to the creature rebalance. But it is clear that it was directed at CH's because the two main stats that were nerfed were armor and kinetic resists.
We were told that CL 50 and under non-tameables would be the exception, not the rule. And this is currently untrue. There are not very many new tameables out there.
We were told that MCH would slightly feel the changes, when this is totally untrue as well, having to relearn our pets capabilities and finding all new pets to boot.
We were given this sad excuse for rares that just have no justification being so rare. I have spent close to 2 months trying to find just one, and having destroyed 200+ lairs looking for this one tameable, I am still empty handed. That's nonsense as far as i'm concerned.
Personally, is should go like this. Wild--BE--Rares. But it's not the case right now. The most rare tameable, the Bull Rancor, has rather pathetic stats for it's CL (65). Our rares are pretty much nothing more than a meaningless status symbol. I don't tame pets for a status symbol, I tame them because I want them, not because I want others to see me with them. Quite a slap in the face for someone that could care less for a trophy.
And now that the Creature Handler nerfing has been completed, I just know that Creature Handler is going to be widely forgotten and left out of many situations (anyone remember the Necro nerf in EQ back in the day?)

Tarnblade, it is trueCH's can tame pets, if you enjoy doing that, thats fine. If you don't want to tame pets, thats ok too. Its your character.
What I am saying, I think dev designed CH's as a fighting / tanking class. They designed each class to be dependant on other classes. For example, we need enormous quantities of meat. We are dependant on the fighting classes to bring us meat. Unfortunately, I have to pay 20cpu for most of the meat I buy because people do not like to gather meat. As a result, since we pay so much for the supplies we use, it makes our prices high.
Many of the Creature Handlers use pets with 30 kinetic, requireing many pet stims that have gotten expensive because the meat is in short supply. A better solution would be to make lots of money gathering meat, resulting in buying 2pet teamwith ar1 and 60 kinetic and using less stims and dealing more damage.
