Thread: CH boards
What I disagree with is that the devs are going to do anything about it. There might be a few changes, but all in all I think CHs are now where they are going to be in another year. The devs cannot give the CHs the ability to get non-BE pets that are as good as BE pets without destroying the BE pet market and once again throwing the skill point system out of balance.
Look at the number of BE/CHs. They have this combo because they need one profession to make the best creatures and the other to control them. If CHs get the ability to produce these creatures on their own, then suddenly they can do the same thing at half the cost. The result is that all those BE points go back into some other combat profession and CHs are once again masters of pet combat, non-pet combat and the economy because they can do all three with their skill points.
That system is now gone. If a CH wants the best weapon then he is going to have to buy it from a crafter, us. Just life pistoleers and pikemen have to buy their weapons from weaponmasters instead of just using the ones they find in the wild.
But I do agree that it's unlikely that CH will be changed in a major fashion in the near future since they were revamped and there are so many other professions that need tweaking (if not complete revamps).
I wouldn't worry about it *too* much since the most vocal people are seldom those who are happy but often those who are miserable. And in this place I think there's not much that will make those vocal, unhappy ones content.
If you go to the CH boards, the most common post has to do with the pet they are looking to tame.... Has anyone found a baby Bull Rancor yet?... This is what they think about... taming pets.

Many of the CH's have left to the next class that will get nerfed and many of the remaining in a land that does not exist.
They have no purpose. They are our customers.

does anyone else have the feeling that these "purists" are the same people bombing abortion clinics and protesting genetic engineering in our own society. id rather like to think that they are. but that may just be, and that was my 3 cents (yes i get more than you)
LOL! That is great!
I agree with you completely but the depressing part of it is this. I grinded CH for two reasons, one like you said to take on high level mobs, two the thrill of taming that superior creature you finally found in the wild. Well with the changes that kills one of those reasons and slightly dulls the profession for me. I mean sure I could join the futile hunt for the "rare" creatures but what a complete waste of time in my opinion considering BEs can make better creatures in the first place. That is all I was trying to point out.
Justremember that those complaining don't represent the entire community and I have seen more BE pets running around than I have seen wild pets so who cares what a couple of CHs are whining about. You will always have my business! ![]()
CH has changed, there is no doubt about it. There used to be a whole "subclass" of CH that dedicated themselves to supplying pets to others. The CH nerf and the BE patch killed them, no doubt about it. I was at the starport yesterday listening to a CHhallering about selling pets for 10k. Nice pets too, CL 40ish semi-rare. I actually felt bad for him.
But, they need to get over it and move on. There is simply no way that the system can work if they can tame pets that compete with ours. Whenever a CH makes an argument to me that they should be able to tame as good a pets as BEs can make, I just say, cool, then they should allow MBE's to call pets at MCH level for "fairness" sake. Of course even that wouldn't really be "fair" though, since our skill point requirements are more than theirs.
I saw a big thread in the CH boards a week or so ago, where the person starting the thread said "we're not looking tame uber pets, just give us something with medium armor" lol. Obviously, that's rediculous, and can't be allowed to happen.

Yep, and that's as much of a problem for BEs as it is for CHs.
Some gen questions for you, seing as a lot of your post doesnt make much sense.
Most consider that the funnest part of being a CH is finding rare catches.
What is wrong with this ?
Yes finding Rare pets is fun.... Hrm let me see why could that be,,,, Because they are RARE and not everyone and there grandmother can get one by going up to a BE and saying.
"I want this particular pet"
Hell even the hard core gamers that hunt 100 + lairs dont allways get a rare pet.
They are a fighting class
Erm were actually a TANK class at the moment, please explain to me how CH by its self is a fighting class.
gathering class
How are we a gathering class ?
Our main skill is taming creatures,,, notice taaammminnng
Id have to asume this is what you are refering to.
and they refuse to gather. Its boreing.
Your loosing me here with your weird logic.
Why am I bringing this up? Because it is going to affect us if something is not done.
Please bear in mind that ive nothing against BE's and have a lot of BE pets myself.
I just dont understand a lot of BE's who seem to think that CH's in general are low life scum, and yet they want to sell to us.
Why did any of you become a BE ?
As BE/MCH, I can sympathize.
And I have an easy fix.
The problem is that every single critter of the same species in the wild has exactly the same stats. Every GSP is a carbon copy of every other GSP. In the real wild, this would never be the case.
So allow wild animals to vary in stats, in much the same way that engineered pets vary in stats, and we would have balance back in the galaxy. CH could hunt and tame the BEST GSP they can find. BE could engineer the BEST kitty they can build. Customers would have a choice.
Is this gonna happen? Nah. But you can see this would totally give both professions and their customers reason to rejoice.
BE's would certainly not rejoice at such a notion.

Well, my BE would rejoice if the wild animals I could sample all had different stats and that would flow into my engineering. I see this as a Win-Win situation. But to each its own, Arthur.
