I here alot of people talk about there pets running away or being cowardly. This is true for some animals, but not always.

Have you ever noticed that while they are running away your pets appear to be in the front and it looks like the other creature is chasing him..... But then when the creature dies, its body warps to the front of your pet.

Perhaps our pet was actually chasing a cowardly enemy, that is running away. Maybe its just a graphic glitch with lag, as to which one is actually in the front and running away.

I'm a Master ch on tarquanis, and I have a savage humumba thing(not sure how to spell it), But it is taller than any GCS, even the wild ones. So I have declared my pet to be the tallest mount in the world of SWG.

Oh yeah! But anyway, I have never seen any one else on one before so I don't know if they are rare, or people just don't know about them, I actually just stumbled opun mine by accident.

Anyhoo, I am thegreat and somewhat powerful Keddrak the wookie.

Master ch, master marksman, brawler, commando, soon to be TKA.

Oh and I still like rancors even if they do suck. They just look so cool.

Oh and last but probably least, I WANT TO HAVE A KRAT DRAGON PET NOWWW!!!!!!!!That was my hole purpose of even getting SWG, so make my dream a reality.

I got the option on the torton, too, to stunt its growth. It still got to be huge, but, like you,I didn't get the option later to train it as a mount. I submitting a request to have its growth continue and was told that its growth couldn't be continued but that Tortons may be made to be mounts in the future, so I should hang on to it. I now have two Tortons that have had their growth stunted.

On the topic of the Cowardly Mauler. Does anyone know why the large models seem so **edit** cowardly? I was seeing the same thing with pet Rancors. They seem to always wanna run which is pretty **edit** stupid.

Seems like the smaller Mobs are definetly Braver. I have yet to see my Kusak EVER run from anything.

As a long term CH that regularly uses maulers and other large pets, I just want to try to lay this whole idea to rest.

Grauls, rancors or anything else are NOT cowardly or running away. Its a basic limitiation of the 'combat box' system used in melee, where a large mob has a large box, and smaller mobs have smaller boxes. The creature AI makes them get to an ideal range when attacking (a certain distance from the centre of its box, plus or minus a metre or 3). This means the graul wades in and attacks, the target (invariably smaller) moves forward to attack and the graul, not out of position, tries to move back to get back to its prefered fight range. And this keeps going on, through server lag, making it look like the pet is 'running away'. It is even worse with long creatures like bols and fambaa, making the large elongated body form a complete PITA for large pets to attack.

The reason it happens far less with multiple pets attacking is that the target is more lenient in its attack range (likely built into the AI to prevent ping-ponging as much as possible). And the whole thing gets much worse on slopes as attack ranges change vertically as well as horizontally, which can lead to very quick changes and a lot of running to and fro.

Basically tho, its not the pet, its the relatively weak melee range combat system that is causing the problem.
