Thread: TC Patch 11/26 Bugs and Issues.
Just a quick note that I am indeed pleased to see these changes up-and-coming...but am more concerned about the tissue issue regarding milk/fish and mollusc/crustacean meat ( I picked up 3 of it- what the heck?)
Tal-n: Yes, Robas do indeedy have babies...and they are male/female like kaadu
I have a quirky thought, and while it might be more pertinent on the CH line, I thought I'd share it since it deals with GENETICs on the macro-scale of things....
if a CH lets a pet go on a planet not its own, can the program make a note of the type of creature? perhaps, if enough of the same species are released somewhere, it can create a colony, which might upset the ecosystem, but who knows?.... "Whaddaya mean you were ambushed by grauls outside of Moenia?"
Talthazar,
I just noticed that the lesser dewbacks and the other CL<11 mounts are not on the creature list. Weren't we promised those in this publish? Can you check with Keldarin on that?

They're on there so to speak.Keep in mind, the list up top here is nothing more than shapes. They do not set the abilities of the clone anymore. The abilities of the clone come from the generic dna template. So if you make a cl 10 template and stick it in any mount skin, you will get a cl 10 mount.
If this is the plan, great. But, I'm worried that there may be some kind of limit regarding how much you can lower a CL of a clone. Jumping from CL 25 to 10 seems like a big drop.
Put it on your list of things to test if you don't mind. Thanks.

How about creature sizes? Do final CL result also affect the size of the final creature? Or are all of them the same size as always? Take for instance, the currently massive kimo.
Hmm, I think my first new clone pet will be a Kimogila. Then I'll try a Tybis..been wanting to have one of them...then the Blurrg....then see what the best non-ch pet I can come up with.
My concern is about the dna sampling: if the level of the sampled creature dna is going to determine the final level of the end product creature, then that is a drastic change to how the class is played now.
The option to use the "refining" method of dna cloning allowed for various styles of play in the class. If the ability to follow a similar procedure is removed, then I think thats a bad thing.
Some players wish to be field scientists, some mad scientists, hopefully there will still be room for both with the coming changes.
Man, i wish i could copy my master BE over to test this out.

Refining is out. If you make a clone from CL15 dna then you'll only get around CL15 dna out of the clone. On the whole I see this as a good thing since a bio-engineers skills at making a clone shouldn't be determined by how much they're able to grind. The profession is supposed to be 'fun' beleive it or not, I can't see how anyone can get their enjoyment from sitting down grinding out generation after generation of clones just to make a single pet. Its very much against th nature of what a bio-engineer is afterall.
How are we going to know what level creature we are creating? Is it going to be displayed in the templates we create, the final creature or after they are tamed to those with enough skill to see the level.
As Kel said, the CL rating is displayed at the point after the creature is assembled. This is currently an issue since at the moment there is a bug stopping clones from being crafted once the dna is put into the slots. There is the risk of making a pet too high or too low but Keldarin says that this is part of skill needed for the profession. I'm kinda inclined to agree since it means you have to learn to understand the process of making a clone not just grind away at it.
Will the DNA sampling level be raised?
As i said when the sampling cap was added it's because there is no need to sample higher than CL70 since that is the maximum any CH can control. Using samples from critters higher than CL70 drastically increases the risk of making an untamable clone, especially since people were able to sample from CL150 species. This does however mean that certain special attacks will not be available for the clones but thats only around 2 or 3 which I know to be unique.
Actually, the experimentaion does now seem to work in a logical manner. The current clones can be made still and I was able to experiment one point at a time multiple times in any line of experimentation on the final creature combine.
