I'm not going to lose sleep but it was a "named" lair so the odds are I did jump it. Still, how long does it take to ride the 100-500m from the time a mission updates? These were on my radar for a good ten minutes. I didn't watch them spawn, they were there when I rode up to my mission. I saw neither hide nor hair (no offense to the wookies out there ) of another player.

Ah well. I'll make sure to ignore the named lairs from now on. Not because this guy was a jerk, but because I really don't want to jump on anyone else play space. Heh, I can get my own missions fine. I was also wondering where in the heck he got the 85k figure for the lost XP? Damn, some people need to remember it's a game.

BTW the best xp of the night was a wild insect hill that never seemed to run out of spiders. I ran out of uncrated grenades before the spiders ran out. I think I got over 70k combat from that one bunch of spiders

They DO update when you get in range, but that doesn't mean they un-update if you go OUT of that range again. It's possible this person picked up the missions, did one but not to completion, took off for the Village to trade in XP, and returned (probably 10 minutes transit). This is more likely if you were E or SE of the Science Outpost. Mind you, the guy WAS a bit overboard ... but sometimes, people won't listen when you simply say it's your mission.

If you didnt know that, you made an honest mistake that almost everyone has. Sorry the guy screamed at you, but he's probably one of those ppl who is in a hurry to grind out "teh ub4r jedi" and you got in his way.

Nothing to worry about.

many mission lairs have glowing mist on them too, but hey, everyone makes the mistake of taking someone else's lair here and there, he's just a dope.

Ahh then you very well might have stole his mission and he had every right to rant.

Thing is, he might have 2 missions close to one another and they both updated. So it took him a while to finish off one before he could move onto the next one (ie why the lair stayed so long "on your radar").

So basically to answer your Title question - You more than likely stole his mission and personally get no sympathy from me. It's frustrating enough to ride around dath through trees, dodging NS's etc but then to come to your wp and find someone else finishing off your mission lair. Not cool. So not cool.

Ah, good point, didn't think of that. I've read the guide on how to maximize your xp/per hour and didn't think about the guy going back to the village to trade xp. Guess it's because I'm not focused on seeing how fast I can do the grind. I'm just cranking out the xp at my own speed.

My bad. Lesson learned. Don't touch the named lairs. Got it.

Named Lairs = "Don't touch"

I disagree. If the lair has been there for more than a half hour nuke it. Especially if it's hostile. People without combat skill travel the planet as well and that lair can give them no end of grief. Especially if they have mines in the area.

I was not asking for sympathy. I was asking for information so I wouldn't repeat my mistake. I own up to what I do in game and out. He wasn't very forthcoming on information, just profanity. Like I said, I've had missions taken from me and just moved on and gotten another. Now if the person started following me around stealing them I'd take issue. Still, it was an honest mistake, I wasn't griefing him and I didn't respond in kind to his rant. I also had no intention of paying him 85k. Guess he could send the Stormtroopers to collect the fine.

I know where your coming from! I have mistakenly kill someones mission without relizing it untill i have finished it and they turn up at that point where it goes boom!

i done this mistake within the first week of me getting this game about 6months ago! /sigh the guy went nuts at me and was a moaning child about it! even though i appologised manytimes. I even told him that i was new to the whole game and didnt know! he then left in a sulk, i then drove back to town to get a mission to find myself being banned from the city!!!! great!!!! /sigh I am still banned from the city today (dark city it was called back then cant remember what it is called now, corbantis server on Naboo)

but other than that i have had a few people compain to me due to me killing some of the creaturesaround there mission, but this is not me trying to take them from his mission but the fact my mission was right next to theres and the agro comeing on to me! /sigh it is a lose lose situtation!

dont let it get to you man. mistakes happen!

I never lose! I may just be a little behind when the time runs out ! ! !

This happened to me recently. I was in a solo group doing stalker missions wheni drive up to my lair at the same time as another player from the group. I think 'ut-oh', and he starts banging on my lair. I sent him tells, group chat, spatial, everything to get this guy to stop, but he wouldn't.

Now, I can see some confusion with the group arrow to closest mission, and your own mission arrows, but for the guy to ignore tells, group AND spatial chat I found ridiculous.

What did he think, I was there to cheer him on??

I killed all the mobs, he banged on lair. I got the lions share of experience, being Master I was faster than him, being both of us swords. No big deal.

Couple days later, same guy asks me for a teach. Being capped on App Exp, I politely declined and ignored. Sorry.

I honestly feel bad for these people that take things so far. I've often tried to comprehend what goes through people's minds when they snap in a MMO when they don't get everything EXACTLY how they want it. Are these people like this in real life? Probably not, but I think if someone crosses that line and snaps on other players over stupid stuff like this, then they need to do a reality check and remember that they are playing a video game, and if they get this bent out of shape over 5 mins time in a video game, I'm really scared at what they will do when the server goes down and they realize there is a world full of stupid crap waiting for them. I've been frustrated beyond absoulte end from playing some MMO's and espicially grinding out FS xp has gotten to me before. But to do things that can possibly bring down another player's entertainment experience I've never done. Personally, I'd just ignore em and feel sorry that they need to act the way they do in a game. I can almost with the upmost certianty guarentee that had this been reversed, he would of killed your lair that he saw and when you rode up he'd of said tough I was here first go pull another mission Loser. He is just one of those people so ignore him, move on, and when he finally if ever reaches Jedi he can whine about getting ganked by BH's because he will be the one showing off his Saber in Coronet yelling ooooh....ub3r l33t J3d1. You wish you could be me.

Dude, mistakes happen. No need to feel bad though...

People need to lighten up. Many times I hae gone to my mission wp only to find someone else destroying it. Do I freak out on this person? Do I send hate tells? Do I call them every name I can think of?

OFCOURSE NOT!!!

Its a game, and it happens. Whether its a legitimate mistake (in your case) or not, it makes no difference to me. I just turn around and go grab another mission. Takes me a whole, I dunno, 5 minutes max to head back to the terms and grab another.

Some people need a lesson in maturity (which this person severly lacked as you described his reaction).

And as for this persons remark of "You shouldn't be attacking wild lairs"...

Attack em all you want!!!

When I'm out on my own I usually keep the combat spam window open to monitor what effect different things are doing. Now I have personally gone into each window and enabled instant message but that is not the default. Your group mate may not have had tells enabled in the window he was looking at. Even if he had tells enabled, with the grenades blasting off and the text scrolling up the window it's easy to miss. Not saying that was the case, just that it's possible.

Now in normal groups I keep on group chat but in Solo groups I'm just not paying attention. I seldom use spacial so just yelling at me is unlikely to get my attention. Heh, if the Baz Natch's start talking to me it's time to cut back on the spice.

In this case the individual strictly used spacial. He was lucky I even noticed the conversation bubble over his head as I turned around. If he had sent me a tell asking what the heck I was doing because it was his mission, I would have backed out and peaced immediately. Even if he was still being a jerk about it. I don't let another's attitude guide my actions (and for the most part reactions, especially if I'm in the wrong ).
