1) Even with the problems we have in the profession, how do you like it?

Yes, even though I am just beginning this profession 0022, I love it.

2) What is your view on Pikeman being such a small community? Do you enjoy Pikeman being a small group, or would you prefer that we were larger in size? (In other words, would you like the pikeman numbers to stay small or grow larger?)

On this I cannot comment as I have not been here long enough to get to know the community ( yet )

3) Do you see yourself as a pikeman in the future? Why/Why not?

Yes I do, ( why ) because this is an awsome profession, the animations are cool, and when you fighting a MOB it seems more personal...and more intense.. " If you loose it here your in a world of hurt " <-- jesse ventura from the predator..

4) When someone in game comes up to you and asks, "I'm thinking about becomming a pikeman, but not sure. Do you think I should?" What do you reply with?

I can't say as it has'nt happend to me yet, but I would reply absoluty...

1) Even with the problems with the profession, how do you like it?

I love this profession and no holo or FOTM will ever convince me to drop it...EVER. Why do I like it?.............No clue...........but that's what makes it special............kinda like love , if you know WHY you love a person, then you don't love the person, just that person's 'qualities' that you answered with......... ........................................................

2) What is your view on Pikeman being such a small community? Do you enjoy Pikeman being a small group, or would you prefer that we were larger in size? (In other words, would you like the pikeman numbers to stay small or grow larger?)

I love the rarity.........not that I need to but it makes me feel special..... I would hate to see the masses of FOTM bandwagoneers (ex. TKA, I was a TKA back when it was still broken to hell and wasn't over buffedand look at their numbers now.......*Sigh),and ultimate power seekers that don't care if they have a LVA or a Flamethrower in their hand as long as they are the 'best'.....

3) Do you see yourself as a pikeman in the future? Why/Why not?

Are you insane?............Yes, yes of course I will be Pikeman in the future.....in fact, more than one of my characters will be Pikeman guaranteed in the future.... Why?.....because I love it and it is the most enjoyable for me.......

4) When someone in game comes up to you and asks, "I'm thinking about becomming a pikeman, but not sure. Do you think I should?" What do you reply with?

Frankly I have never ever outwardly recommended anyone who asked me that question to become Pikeman..........there is absolutely no reason to recommend it to people who ask except for our bleeds and AP2 And that alone isn't enough to sway the reasons available for the other melee.

My response will usually be....Try it out, if you like it you'll love it despite all of it's short comings, if you don't like it then go do something else.......this isn't for casual people....lol.....

1) Even with the problems in the profession, how do you like it?

I started off as a Holo pikeman. Two months, and 6 other professions later, I'm still a pikeman. Lol, I can't point to any one reason, but I love this profession .

2) What is your view on Pikeman being such a small community? Do you enjoy Pikeman being a small group, or would you prefer that we were larger in size? (In other words, would you like the pikeman numbers to stay small or grow larger?)

I enjoy the small numbers, although antares made a good point. If there were more pikeman out there, perhaps our cries to the dev's would not fall on deaf ears...I shouldsay covered ears .

3)Do you see yourself as a pikeman in the future? Why/Why not?

Currently, yes. However, if the dev's continue to ignore the problems with the profession, my love for it may fade over time.

4) When someone in game comes up to you and asks, "I'm thinking about becomming a pikeman, but not sure. Do you think I should?" What do you reply with?

I'm always honest. I tell them about the problems currently faced, and that it takes more of a commitment by the player than some of the other professions, but that reaching the Master Pikeman level is an achievement that not many out there can say they've accomplished.

1-I absolutely love it, I just mastered, and people either ask what's next for my holo, or assume I'm gonna give it up and do something else. But I'm not doing either, I chose this weapon because it is fun, and different from sitting, or rather kneeling or in prone, spamming shots at something. I like the dynamic feeling offered by pikesman.

2-eehhhh......if I say smaller group, are we gonna be ignored? I mean, the last stats show we were the *lowest* percent of users, with the exception of jedi padawan, which there were none obviously. hehe. I think there's a good reason for that. I think we all kinda enjoy our uncommoness, or rarity in some cases...but at the same time...I personally would give that up to see issues addressed.

3-Yes, see number 1. hehe. (dynamic, active....cool style)

4-I usually say "heck yes, go for it. Although, the first few skill boxes from novice are a toughy, and you'll always *need* to be buffed, use muon gold, mind food/drinks, and get some help via either a good pet or someone who can heal you. also be prepared to miss some in the beginning too, and if you're not buffed....don't use any specials. Be prepared to spend some trips to the cloners, and searching for a doc to buff. other then that...it'll be fun!"

1) Even with the problems we have in the profession, how do you like it?

Despite all the problems I still like Pikeman. I enjoy it because of the challenge, and Im a glutton for punishment.

2) What is your view on Pikeman being such a small community? Do you enjoy Pikeman being a small group, or would you prefer that we were larger in size? (In other words, would you like the pikeman numbers to stay small or grow larger?)

I like our community it seems we are closer than any other community. Plus you cannot beat the sarcasm you find in the Pikeman community. I would like to see growth but only if those join us willingly.

3) Do you see yourself as a pikeman in the future? Why/Why not?

I will always be a Pikeman, I have invested way to much time and energy into this profession. I will never give it up, even though I am holo-grinding I have sacrificed CH and Master Scout to grind with Armor-Smith, Pikeman however will never leave me. At the end of the grind I know I will always have my pike.

4) When someone in game comes up to you and asks, "I'm thinking about becomming a pikeman, but not sure. Do you think I should?" What do you reply with?

I have to ask what they are looking for in a melee class, and direct them to one of the other professions. I let them know Pikeman is a long and hard road, where they will fail alot but the rewards at the end are worth it. Overall I can not really recommend the profession to most people. Only those that seem up to the task.

1) Even with the problems we have in the profession, how do you like it?

It's not very fun until you get the first accuracy box. Until then it's very frustrating because of the constant slow attacks and missing. Once you get to 2-0-0-2 it becomes VERY fun.

2) What is your view on Pikeman being such a small community? Do you enjoy Pikeman being a small group, or would you prefer that we were larger in size? (In other words, would you like the pikeman numbers to stay small or grow larger?)

It's not the fact that it's a small community that makes it so appealing, it's the fact that there are no whiners here. There are no annoying forum griefers andpikeman whiners. There are no trolls, no l337 d00dz who want to "pwn", no uninformed ranters andthere are no PvP crybabies. There are just people who enjoy playing their profession despite it's shortcomings. This is the ONLY forum that is this way with the exception of perhaps the entertainer professions forums (seriously). The Ranger forumsused to be this way before the holo craze but now they are being invaded by holo grinders and people who have visions of uberness in their heads.

3) Do you see yourself as a pikeman in the future? Why/Why not?

I have left the profession but I do see myself returning in the future. Why? Simple. It's fun. I left because I mastered TKA and don't feel the need to master 2 melee professions at this time.

4) When someone in game comes up to you and asks, "I'm thinking about becomming a pikeman, but not sure. Do you think I should?" What do you reply with?

I tell them it's fun and that if they can get to 2-0-0-2 that the profession will become a blast.

All I have to say is pikeman is a great profession but something needs to be done about that accuracy.

1)As a new Pikeman i can say for group hunting i really like this profession. The knockdown is really helpful to those i am hunting with, Solo it's kinda lacking, but yeah, I know its a broken profession.

2)As Far as Pikeman being a small community , that is way cool in my eyes. I dunno, being part of the few who can damage air like nobody else rules.

3) I cant say for sure, but things are lookin good.

4) "you better have some Patience. Its not a glorified profession like TKA or BH, but i see myself as a workhorse. " that would prolly be my answer.

Anywho just wanted to say something. I give total respect to all you Pikers out there because it is a hard and unglorified profession, but you stick to you polearms

I very much enjoy pikeman. I have played about with the pre-novice levels of other professions and am happiest with pikeman. I like hitting things. Hitting things with a stick is even better.

2) What is your view on Pikeman being such a small community? Do you enjoy Pikeman being a small group, or would you prefer that we were larger in size? (In other words, would you like the pikeman numbers to stay small or grow larger?)

I like the fact that the pikeman community is small. It's been pointed out that it's close-knit, pleasantly sarcastic, and dedicated. I'd add demented. I wouldn't change it a bit.

3) Do you see yourself as a pikeman in the future? Why/Why not?

Absolutely. I'm so very slowly working my way to Master. Along the way I'm toying with other professions, collecting clothes, and of course more than anything, role-playing. Once I have Master Pikeman, I'm not letting it go.

4) When someone in game comes up to you and asks, "I'm thinking about becomming a pikeman, but not sure. Do you think I should?" What do you reply with?

"How much do you like pain?" People seem to lovethrowing stats at me about how little damage Master Pikeman do in comparison to Master AnythingElse. I tell people to try it and see if it is their thing, letting them know they willnot be the UBER class in the EQ sense, but that they will be UBER in their own minds.

Like I said these are just a few questions to keep us busy in the downtime. Feel free to add anything else you want to

I'm amazed at how many people pick up Pikeman because a ghostly voice from a little box told them to do so. I'm even more amazed at how many people ENJOY it. Pikeman continues to be a well-kept secret.

I didn't say I was the first, just that I never saw another for sometime. I started playing the 2nd week, so you're probably the first. If you've been around that long, then there were 4 of us for a while until one guy dropped it in mid-late August.

1) I picked up a pike with my 1st char. in order to master brawler and I liked it more than the other meele professions. When I deleted that guy, my new one started in immediatly with pike but my original design was for pike to be support. Once I got going with it and grabbed my first area attack it became my focus. Yea, we do have some issues. Unbuffed we are useless and in all honesty when I'm grouped with one or more TK's I put the pike away unless the shtuff hits the fan. (I just can't stand to watch the combat window, makes me cry:smileysad Still, even though we are more of a plastic coated expedition then a tank, I enjoy stepping in when the going gets rough. I'm always trying to be the 1st to drop, tossing taunts all over. And there's nothing better than putting that aggro on the ground as he rushes your surprized rifleman. When we get a good area sweep, without too much server lag I get amped, my groups always love the effect of seeing me run into a group of creatures or npcs and with one swift move they all fall around me (I know, I know, it's only happened like 5-6 times but it's cool nonetheless). I can't say I would enjoy anything else as much.

2) Better that than TK's, being accomplished (ie good, not necessarly master) for them is no big deal. I mean everywhere you go there's TK's or Pistoleers, etc. Even with the Holo's we still are the bottom of the barrel as far as numbers are concerned (Droid eng?). Which is good, I can't remember the quote, but you can liken us to water. We stay in the lowlest places often overlooked, but with every motion breath life (and destroy HAM:smileyhappy

3) Certainly, I'm not leveling fast by anymeans so I have the time to play with, and utilize the bennies of other skills. Once I hit master it stays.

4) Depends on if their trying it for a Holo or due to their own character. I'll try to let em know everything I can, most often asked in starports and if they are attentive I'll dump it all on em, sending tells from another planet. Usually though it ends with an assesment of their pacience, it's really not a button mashing/macro friendly profession. You really need to watch whats happening, because all it takes is one miss at a key point to turn the tides. Thats about the best advice I give.

The potential is there. It's not a catch all, if the circumstances are right we can be a devastating force. Our biggest problems though can come through a few sources. Weapons need to be better, and we need to be able to acctually take a beating. IMO a pikeman should in all manners have the highest KD resist and toughness of the meele classes. If we are designed to only get lucky with our hits once in a blue, we need to be able to at least stand there while wepump fakeour VL. We have no definition, it's been discussed plenty of times so no use hitting on that again. Thats all I can think of. /salute

I'm a Holo-pikeman...probably would not have even looked into it since I already wanted to focus on TKA as a melee proffesion, that being said...

1 - slow grind, but the animations are DEFINTELY SOMETHING to through a stick at (pun intended) - very cool attack animations!!!

2 - lately I've seen quite a few pikeman (holo or otherwise) on my server, so big/small, doesn't really mean a lot to me...I can get trained either by a person or an NPC when the need arises.

3 - I'll be giving it up after I master it to a) master other profs, and b) my main melee prof will be TKA (or perhaps Fencer, with some TKA thrown in).

4 - I tell em...it's a slow grind...you miss a lot, but when you hit - BAM!...one weapon has electric damage (nice!)...very VERY cool attacking animations!!! Oh yeah...how about AREA attacks, and it's got bleeds!

BTW - yes, it's fun! (aside for the missing)

I love it! Having my alt as a pikeman is grate! While I am holoing other pro on my alt, I never droped pikeman (and no it was not a holo pro, it was by choice).

2) What is your view on Pikeman being such a small community? Do you enjoy Pikeman being a small group, or would you prefer that we were larger in size? (In other words, would you like the pikeman numbers to stay small or grow larger?)

I love being the underdog, thats why I picked this class. If I wanted to a cookie cutter player I would be TKA.

3) Do you see yourself as a pikeman in the future? Why/Why not?

DUH! Heck yes, we have issues with our class sure, but all class's did or do. And when they get fixed its great! Look at TKA

4) When someone in game comes up to you and asks, "I'm thinking about becomming a pikeman, but not sure. Do you think I should?" What do you reply with?

Well I tell them they will miss alot (I mean alot) compaired to other classes. But that its still worth it. Why? I have no clue, just that I love it SO much!!!
