Though I am seeing some new non-holo BE's popping up, Naritus is really hurting for Bio-Engineers right now. There's seriously probably less than 5 Master BE's out here who are active. Though this server has always had a tiny number of BE's, the few I knew who stuck it out this long have now dropped skills in persuit of little blue cubes or just plain stopped playing. Demand on us few left is so outrageous, I had to blow off all orders and take a couple weeks break to gather myself. Hopefully this is a phase, and our numbers grow again!
Octavius, I'm a BE on Naritus... non-holo induced. I've been trying to master merchant (yes, holo induced) and I wanted something worthwhile to do while I had the vendors, and being a former Master CH, I decided to go the BE route... And I will stick with it as long as I can, I'm really enjoying myself (despite not knowing what the hell I'm doing)
I am currently 3/1/3/4 and going for Master. I've started to make a few nice pets; even sold my first with 31% kin resist on a lvl 19 (i think) bol for 30k! Happy happy fun fun!!! I wasn't planning on doing the tissues, until our guild leader did Master Tailor (of course, holo induced).... but she is quickly dropping it so she can be more useful on the battlefield (what with IG and MC constantly attacking Justice
) so I'm undecided as to whether I should just concentrate pets or do some tissues and sell them on the vendor.
If you do need to take breaks from time to time, I wouldn't mind a little business my way
... and any help a fellow Naritus BE can give would be greatly appreciated
Wow, it's no wonder the Rebels are winning the GCW. First there is RonninOtnemen from SoJ then there is MissileToad from RAID. Now there is Me from BRO.
I just made (NONHOLO) Master BE 2 weeks ago and am loving every minute of it. I am still having an issue figuring out the combinations of DNA and the theory behind using 5 level 12 tissues and getting a pet that is level 14? But hey that is the fun of the class. I wanted to be a Master BE/Master CH fromt he start and here I am 1/2 done.
Ronnin, If you want to get together for training, or just to talk shop please send me a PM here and I'll get a hold of you in game. I know were down at Justice helping out so I suppose we can talk then too? I am just starting to get into this PvP thing and though fun does take me away from my DNA harvesting and crafting.
.
Hope to hear from ya,
Ded
I have been a BE since 3rd week of retail, and for me it's totally opposite. I am having a ball!!
I really hated the old system....Get 5 samples from critters with higher CL then the one you wanted to make..put into template and create...talk about boring.
Now it's all about figuring out what works the best.. combining specials and resists..sampling down. It's wonderfull!! (For those struggling with certain levels I'd suggest a BIO book. Every critter I make gets logged on what goes into each slot and what pct I expereimented the 5 attributes to. That way when I get a certain request I can usually look into the recipe book and have something to offer. I alos quote 48 hours for every custom order and try to deliver in 24) Biggest problem I have now is keeping vendor stocked.
Unlike every other cookie cutter crafter position except maybe tailor, we actually get to put creativity into our pets. Its not just plug certain thing into certain spot and get result...BORING!!!
By the way, I don't know about you, but in the last 2 weeks I've been DNA sampling, I didn't die once. get good armor, spcies, food, drink, stims and you don't even need a bike.
It's not even dangerous or thrilling, it's boring, always same crap. sample, sample, sample, freshlak , sample, sample spice, sample, sample, sample, spice off, wait. etc. it you got noticed, run and peace 40 meters. once combat is over don't wait a sec and runs traight on it to sample again.
Lots of people talk about mutant, they have low Kin ( insane atck / ham tho), too me they are such a waste of time to harv. TBH, anything on dath is a waste of time. For the same ammount of time you'll get a couple of worthy DNA on dath ( plainswalkers, mutant rancors) you'll get dozens more on critters mentionned below.
Spider queen, mites, mite queen on endor and Frenzy / aciant grauls on danthoine are the only decent stuff out to sample. Not only it's good, but with +25 MS gears it's wayyy too easy to sample. That's 5 critters on the whole game.
You can say that you don't have to only makes light armor + 60 kin pets but considering that 99% of the fights in game end up with kinetics, why bothers? Besides, you'r going to sell those big bucks too.
Sample those 5 critters , takes hundreads of dna, makes Dozens of insane pets, makes millions of cred and once you feal comfy with yer bank accountjust /surrender.
Or you can do like Tal-N, pretends it's so fun after have figured what piece of crap the current system is, and snob anyone who dares to give a figer and say thanks anyways. right.

You can roll your eyes all you want and ridicule me but it's what has happened. The same people who flock to the flavor-of-the-month uber professions are the ones flocking to BE now in hope of a quick buck.
Yes, and that's what started this whole thread, lol, those are the ones "dropping like flies". I don't even worry about them. They'll do there thing for a couple weeks, get bored, and move on. I don't even give them a second thought.

All your seeing is the lazy bio-engineers dropping the profession and people who simply wanted to grind their way up with the minimum of effort. Good ridence I say.
They're not the ones I see dropping like flies. Surely they are, but it's other long-standing BEs that I see moving on. It's an insult to say 'good riddance' to them. The mouth has spoken again.
Do you think any of these folks are suddenly now "all about money"? *rolls eyes*.
Who, the 10,000 BE's that started up the class right after the patch to make tons of money off cookie-cutter pets? yes, I think that. What made you think I was talking about previously-established Bioengineers with lucrative crafting businesses? And since when were bioengineers **edit**ign each other over in the field out of greed? Oh yeah, "I can't believe that guy what a jerk he stole my fishing spot!!" or "**edit** that Arthur Dent, he placed his flora harvesters in such a way that I had to go survey for another fungus concentration"
Anyone that wanted to make money as a BE before could have, but you didn't see the huge influx until now, when big-ticket items are all the rage. On my server pets can go for as much as 500K to 600K for low level custom orders, and *that* is what has brought the huge influx of BE.s
