Yeah, it is part of the sticky but non-BEs are not going to look through the FAQ because they will think it is for BEs. So we will continue to get spam until it is stickied again. (Well, we still will because some people can't even bother to read the stickies, but not as much.)

Putting the vendor thread as a seperate sticky is much better than part of the FAQ. Yeah it adds yet another sticky to a long list of stickys, but it will not be looked for in the FAQ.
If this board does become a good place to find a BE on your server, then this board will get spamed with requests for BEs and finding the discussion threads will of course be difficult. That is the primary reason to do this. It isn't because we are all jerks.
I do help people from time to time that ask for a BE on my server trade forums. Not often that I see a request for a BE though. The trade forums are poorly done and there needs to be a better and offical way to hold auctions and sale items. A spamed out trade forum is not it. I know there are 3rd party web sites that offer good services, but they have the problem with being 3rd party. The Offical forums aren't seen by most in game. Having better selling tools would also help greatly to reduce the afk spam in cnet and theed.

why purplewarrior is allowed to constantly insult people when responding to thier posts is beyond me. apparently unable to respond with an intelligent post making a valid point, they should no longer be posting here. maybe the moderator will finally step up and do something about it. LOL
i mentioned the correspondent and a need for change because they set the tone for this kind of treatment back in june with a sticky that said to the effect that people should expect poor treatment from others if they dont follow the little rules for this forum to the letter, opening the door for people like purplewarrior to insult people just because they dont agree, dont like it, or have apparently named themselves forum moderator. and while the response to the correspondents sticky was not good and it got removed, the tone was already set, and why we need a new one to come in and set a new, more helpful and welcoming tone to this profession.

I havent commented on this for a while but for some reason, this morning I feel compelled to set the record straight.
The original sticky was not written by me, it was removed because there was considerable misinterpretation of its contents.
It was replaced by 2 stickies, 1 politely imforming visitors that they may get a less than warm welcome if they posted questions that were answered in the FAQ or vendor sticky.
The seond was a post to forum regulars reminding them that all flames would be reported and if they found a post objectional to ignore it or post a link to the FAQ/vendor list as appropriate.
I have at no time encouraged flaming or poor conduct, quite the reverse in fact.
These posts were BECAUSE of the problem not the CAUSE of it.
If the forum wasnt flooded with newb questions answered in the faq and trade posts AND regular members of the forums didnt flame all these posts then there wouldnt need to have been those stickies.
What I find ludicrous is that you're blaming the appalling conduct of some forum members on a sticky that was on the forum for less than a day. And that you're transfering the blame to me when I didnt even write it.
But if you feel that you could do a better job, feel free to post here again and gain support for your campaign to have me removed.
