personaly i would rather it work well, than give xp.

giving xp is just gravy...but still, ballence it to work first, then judge how much xp you want it to give...the xp should be a secondary concern to the skills efficency.

I have enjoyed the new effectiveness of mask scent since the patch, though I'd love it a lot more if I'd get a notification of when I am detected which doesn't seem to be happening.

I noticed last night when I went to do a Zucca Boar destroy mission that a Scyk actually stalked me, it basically duplicated my path almost all the way to my camp I set up.

I don't know if that AI is new or not, as I haven't actually spent a lot of time solo in the field up to this point.

And yes, I would enjoy some more 'gravy' of getting scouting exp for sneaking by hostile mobs...

TheDarknerf, I have noticed the same thing with mobs stalking me. Might use this as an advantage to single pull mobs when I get in game today. If it follows you far enough away from the other critters you might beable to get to max range from it and squeeze a shot off for a single pull.

I'd rather the skill work just fine than give xp. I won't speak for lower levels but at Camoufalge +100 I have been walking through vicious camps with ease. I afk auto-walked from the base to my mission.

Yeah, I've noticed the no xp thing and I don't really like it. I started on my scout training post-nerf, so I never knew it any other way, but to be honest, it was a bit of a thrill when I saw the xp come in, meaning that I was successful at masking my scent.

Now, I *guess* it's working better... hard to tell. I get no indication of it failing on me until the mob is attacking. And no indication of success either.

I've also noticed, that things like swarming dewbacks on Tat will warp on me. I see the red dot a good ways behind me then BAM, it's on me.

My camouflage is only 65 right now, but I will never ever trust it enough to walk through a red camp. I don't even skirt close by them like I used to since I can't tell if I'm actually hidden. I don't like the change, I guess I got used to the way it was before.

I noticedafter the patchthat mask scent stopped giving scouting xp when used, is this a bug? (or was it a bug that it gave xp in the first place?) If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it.

I'm not getting any xp, but it never seems to break, either. Even against non-aggro creatures. This is great for me as I never used it as a primary xp source, but I don't worry about getting attacked first, either.

I would have to agree that I would prefer it to not break than gain xp for it. The XP was trivial at best to begin with. The fact that I can actually navigate around adv planets now without having to run my butt off or fend off attackers every few seconds is actually very very nice. Although...There is a big diff between scout maskscent and ranger maskscent. The ranger is way better as it should be. Bout time we actually have A skill worth the profession. I was running around with a scout with level 3 exporation (so master scouts will probably fair better I'm sure) but her maskscent would wear off after about 2mins or so, and she was getting detected and attacked more often than not. I'm running circles in red mobs...and can usually get out unscathed. Although, i've noticed some mobs seem to break my scent more than others. The snake things on lok seem to always get me....least they are weak enough to kill. That's what they get for being so nosey. Rangers rule.

Is mask scent working correctly?

Im a mid lvl CH and ranger. +50 to camoflage. any time i go into a next to tame something in the midst of aggresives. I usually get about 1 shot at taming before the baby according to test sees through camo and atks me. then of course all the others help. Always use walk too.

If that doesnt happen this does. I turn on mask scent and start walking to nest. once i get there 1 aggresive thing will show the " ? " icon and start attacking.. no " ! " icon, mask scent stays on even after fighting back, and half the time the rest of the aggresive normally assisting creatures will just stand there.

From my experience post-patch:

1) Mask scent no longer provides XP.

2) Mask scent seems to be more reliable. I have only had it broken a handful of times over the last week. Pre-patch, it would drop almost immediately when I got close to a non-aggressive creature.

I also dont get exp from mask scent (which doesnt bother me in the slightest)

I also have not had mask scent break since the last patch. Even a whole herd of Fambaa didnt break it.

Mask Scent will not make a creature that you fail to tame not agro you. That seems to be a somewhat random chance.

its not supposed to but either due to bug or something if the creature does decide to atk maybe that is it.. but the text WILL say A creature sees you despite your attempts tocamoflage" or whatever the exact wording is
