Well, it depends on how you play and such, if all you do is pve you might want to get some chitan armor, it has high kenetic resist and low ham cost. (most animals do kenetic) If you are into pvp a lot you may want to look a composite, normaly you can find sets with protection around 60% and its only valnerablity is stun but the ham cost are higher witch not only affect your stats but also affects your ham cost for specials. I like to ware armor just when I'm pvping(had 900 of a 1200 point hit blocked by armor saveed my ass)and not at all when I'm pve. Hope that helps.

This is because of the encumburance of the armor. Encumburance is the penalty for using an armor. What happens is when you put on an armor it lowers your secondery stats for the 3 ham pools. How much is found at the bottom on the examine window of each pice. So the reason you cant use the full set of the armor is because you have to littel in your seconderys. Some species cant have very high seconderys for exampel Zabraks the max for action and health seconderys is 400. What you can do to be abel to use the armor is to put your seconderys to the max in the statmigration and wait until the statmigration is done. then if you still cant use it you can get it sliced and go to a master smuggler to get it sliced they are by far the best in slicing. I would get it sliced even if you could use it after stat migration. Some times Slices gets down encumburance sometimes they give you higher resist its all random so its nothing the smuggler can do anything about same is with how much he improves it just that a master has bigger chance of getting a real good slice. If you still cant use it there is some food you can eat that boost your seconderys for a littel while try this or doctors buffs and maybe some spice for mind or some food for mind, Talk to a master Chef and he should know what you are looking for, well he does if he is good in his profession. Thats about what i could think of. One more thing it is normal that this happens so nothing is wrong with the armor i think.

Was attacking an NPC mob and my armor (Ubese) was working normaly. But when it did a special attack, 'Shenbit Bonecrusher' my armor only absorbe 1 point of damage! Doing 958.

Now, as far as im aware, if it was an high armor pericing attack all of the NPCs attacks would have been still reduced by the resist percentage of the armor (after receving a damage boost). But my armor should have blocked more than it did. And if the attack was of a vulnerable type then no damage would have been blocked ever.

Are armors any good? dont they have too high ham cost?

master doc buffs

armor can save your life and get you killed at the same time. i use ubese armor that i can equip with no buffs (transdoshan, cant wear gloves or boots). when i engage, i am usually unarmed and have no armor on. this way i can do my specials without to much ham cost. if i find i got myself in trouble, i equip my armor and damage sliced VK's and use no specials. this method has saved me many many times. when i am armored and have VK's equipped and use specials i am as good as dead.

I'm a master armorsmith on scylla with a TK character. The best advice I can give is get yourself a set of advanced chitin with kinetic layers. Encumbrance is low and with the right materials you'll get 55% kinetic resist, unsliced.

Now...I thought I could ask people more experienced in this class for some help so I don't have to wander all over the galaxy wasting time [I have been all over the galaxy for 6 months so don't tell me about game experience].

I asked a question. It wouldn't have hurt to give the answer that I was obviously looking for. If you don't know, then just say you don't know. Don't treat inexperience in a certain proffession like they don't know anything about anything.
