Ok, by definention our CL10 pets should be equal to wild animals several CL ratings higher.

Oh ? And how would most BEs possibly know the CL of creatures in the wild with only Hunting 4 ?

Infact when you realise that using the guidelines in my other topic you can play around with roughly 7500 points of HAM, that is based on 4000/2000/1500 which is when you're really pushing the egde of that 250/100 limit for hardiness and fortitude. If you run that through my old equasion for working out a ballpark figure for CL based on the HAM you find they are actually around CL12.5 which is almostexactly what you should expect.

Oh I see.... We have to have "Tal-N handbook for not making an uber invalid pet" on us while we go sampling DNA and clone... Pffff... So people have to take care of Tal-N ruling ?

How about the DEV correct their CL system in the first place ?

Just because I beleive in fair play and balance doesn't make me some kind of dictator who wants to make all of the community do what i want, infact your being totally melodramatic about this and it's not called for. You want a guide to how you should know the stats for wild animals then visit swgcreatures.com which has a incomplete but large database of animals in the game.

Dunno, its odd how people can't create anything even remotely like that with many other attempts when certain people can far exceed that using very specific means. That sounds like the definition of an exploit to me.

I'm tempted to think some of that DNA is debunked, because I've tried using other critters without success, but yet using that dna I get something that's better than a lot of my much higher critters. Has anyone else seen anything like this?

I'm trying to remember the stats for the delierious merek avenger. swgcreatures.com is down. Are they the ones with no armor and 45% to everything?

Most of us have made pets that where considered "invalid" Either while making uber non CH pets or experimenting with DNA. Even before the Kamurith DNA issue was known people where making those, it was a posted recipe on here for days before the devs got wind of it. So to penalize people who made those pets in some blanket facist enforcement system will simpy alienate even more customers. The Smuggler bannings where bad enough. I know dozens of people who where not directly effected by it who quit in disgust over that. Banning BEs for doing what Weaponsmiths do on a daily basis would just add more fuel to the raging wildfire of criticism.

I mean what that says to me is that the Devs can decide some day that something is making the game to easy for certain people and then decide to call it an exploit and ban people for it. I mean what do you think would happen if they decided 80% Composit armor was to powerful and its now an "exploit" and they start banning armorsmiths for making it. I think 80% of the armorsmiths in the game would be gone. Thats just unthinkable, so why would it be any more acceptable to do it to BEs or Smugglers?

Even EQ rarely fully bans players these days. Most get suspension of like 3 days or just verbal warnings. Bannings are considered a last resort and losing 50 players would not be considered an"acceptable casualty rate"

This is really a pretty fine line we're walking here. As a BE, the entire point is to try to, if you will, exploit the system. I don't mean exploit in the sense of cheating, but in the sense of understanding it and taking advantage of it to make the very best pets you can. But if you go to far, you're a cheater and risk banning. If you don't go far enough you're a horrible BE that has a reputation for making worthless, incompetent pets.
In the wild, a CL 10 pet has around 1k of HAM, no resists to speak of, and does about 100 damage. If we tradeoff the damage and give it 3x the HAM, we get a pet that will serve a player far above it's CL. Is this then an exploit? Does it allow players to suddenly "unlock part of the game beyond their skill level?". Actually, it probably does. So is this cheating, and a bannable offense to make such a pet? Hmm, tough call. But of course if that is cheating, I want out of BE.

Yep, I have been called a bad BE before because I wouldn't make the super level 10 pets. I think sometimes other players will just taunt you and challenge your abilities because they really want it and figure if they call you names enough you'll justify your BE abilities and make them one.

Keep in mind kids it's not JUST the non ch pets that can be made "invalid". I made a couple level 30ish pets that couldn't be called after patch. They didn't seem overpowered in HAM but their damage did seem a bit high. All of my level 40 - 50 pets have been fine.
