I know I'm not entirely happy.

You betcha we/they aren't. Essentially what's being done with the CU if one reads what's been posted, is make sure that all the Entertainer professions are being rendered obsolete.

As for the medicine crafting...? Why would BE want that? I certainly don't.

They wanted the fish back. How mean! =((

Its a shame that the BE profession gets some 'love' on an other profs expense...Lets hope that veteran doc crafters still will have a possibility to craft and stay pure crafter, not a combat sidekick........ (and I state this a BE/Doc btw)

As I understand it, BEs are going to be able to make all medicines ... I'm a former BE, and current crafting doc, and I think BEs could use a product sold direct to the end user like some of these. It's like the current stimpacks (assuming you have a bit of Medic to use them), most people want them, not so many want to make them. Believe me, those sell well, and with the skill requirements being related to your combat class, BE has an item to sell to everybody if desired. Of course, other problems were mentioned...

...has mastered the Pilot profession

Myoflex does not effect battle fatigue - only mind wounds. The tailor forum as well as the dancer forum has brought up the issue of Myoflex. This was on the dancer forum before the CU post came out as wound healing is nowalmost instantaneous - without any enhanced clothing I can heal 100 mind wound in 2 florishes - which is a matter of a few seconds.

Perhaps riflemen will get to keep bleed, however, weapons will do a base damage of kinetic or energy. Other weapons will do either heat, cold, acid, or electrical.

I still believe a revamp of tissues/additives is called for to make our profession viable with the coming CU.

Sure it is possible to hire a be to craft me my stuff but does any be have the resources to make me my 10k abecs per week or the time?

I can't even imagine how busy things are gonna be when this hits the streets. Everyone's gonna need something - chefs cause all the food will be different, tailors because their enhancements will be discontinued, creature-handlers because their pets are no longer callable because of who knows what, and now doctors since they can't make stims or buffs anymore. Oh boy.

Somewhere along the line, our definition of 'excels in producing and harvesting organic resources' become very jaded.

One thing is for sure. There is no way the current bunch of BEs can cope with the demands required...we can barely cope as it is.

We have an advantage over others of being more experienced at BE, but most likely we dont have the financial backing that a MDoc converting to BE will have after the CURB.

This board will be extremely busy, and not necessarily for the right reasons as we see them now. I feel that in bringing BE more mainstream, it may lose some of its appeal and make it a jack of even more trades, with a load of money hungry novice BEs running around.

I am VERY scared.

PS. any docs reading this, we did not suggest or ask in any way shape or form for this, and tbh I don't really want to be crafting medical stuf...My Doc side whould be doing that.

...Perhaps they should remove the crafting trees from Doc/Medic, and make a Pharmacist profession instead. It suits the current play style more.

Interesting times indeed. I've had the benefit of letting some of these issues sink in over time. Entertainers are one unhappy mob, and I don't exactly blame them. Doctors seem to be a mixed community. Some like it and some don't. My biggest concern is their skill tapes. Will they still work and will a novice BE with a tape out craft a master BE without a tape?

Regardless, it isn't worth getting stressed out over. I've made friends in this game. My friends are the people behind the avatar. The rest is just a video game. I have friends that left this game long ago and they still remained my friends. If the game doesn't pan out or ceases to be fun I won't be spending my time or money playing the game.

Who knows? It might end up being a blast.

Heh, I was just coming in to say that exact same thing. Looking at the Doctor boards a lot of the crafting Docs are already accepting the fact that they're going full BE. While they're obviously welcome to, I am afraid there will many more BE's tossing out chef schematics. I'm also afraid I just lost pet stims to someone with a lot more resources, hunters, and established vendors.

I know Sony thinks they are promoting inter-dependence and customization, though that's generally not how it plays out in-game. If there's even a small +5 assembly gained at Master BE a crafting Doc will take the whole profession over 1 tree. The true powerhouses will make separate characters so there's no dependence on other players.

Are skill tapes going to appear also? Am I going to have to play the 12-point 80 million dollar suit game as well?

Let alone the fact that I have to drop skills to keep myself a Pikeman/BE. Do the devs realize that Exploration 4 is mandatory for any pet-making BE?

I'm scared. Someone tell me it'll be okay.

Actually, it may be kind of humorous the first time a new Doc/BE crafts, critically fails, loses all their resources and asks, "I thought this was removed from the game"?

It seems like BE is the recycle bin of the professions, if something doesn't fit properly you give it to the BEs. We all know that the BE was added at a very late stage of development and it seemed from then on in that if something doesn't fit properly, you just give it to the Bio-Engineers. CHs need different pets, let BEs make them (and then revamp the process twice). Chefs foods are weak, let BEs make them stronger (much to the dislike of Chefs). CHs pets are now dying, let BEs make them pet meds (and yet are useless unless we spend 10-30cpu to doctors for subcomponents). Tailor's clothes could do with a boost to sales, let BEs make them enhancements (and give some of them really impossible resource types). Now we have player meds, much to the initial dislike of doctors. We've always had this dependence on other professions to make them products, which then craft and mark up once again. The only good thing to come out of this is that we can finally make a product that can be used by everyone. I just hope that these stims are actually worth using. Sounds like if anyone can use them, they wont be very good at all.
