Thread: Tissues cost too much?

Bsically the cost to make a tissue like the basic constrictor cloth is between 200 and 500 credits each depending on material quality used. I am in an agreement with a tailor to use a factory owned by her so I do not have the cost of running it, and I donate my lot spaces so that she can harvest the materials she needs and she keeps one plant harvestor up for me. She maintains all the lots and gets more chemical and metal for her clothing so that she can produce more and I only have to get the creature resources for the biotissue. She also gives me some of the sale price on the bio-tailored goods so that I can get more meat to produce more cloth for her.

So in summary I only have to get creature resources (meat, hide, bone, eggs, milk(lol) which is my limiting factor in crafting tissues, and I do not have to worry about lot maintinence.

Sorry if this post is bad due to the fact that I can never type what I mean to say

Then I guess I must be making a loss. I wonder why it is that my bank balance seems to be steadily increasing?

I sell most tissue enhancements (except those that use eggs/milk) for a flat 1k per tissue, not per point. In factory crates of 5 and 10 (25's on request if I have the materials around), usually +13 or higher.

I don't put a LOT on the vendor, but there's usually a half dozen to a dozen crates there. I mostly collect my own materials, except for some planetary specific stuff which other folks gather for me. I rarely pay 10 cr per unit of meat unless it's in large quantities, and that meat usually ends up in smaller, custom, orders anyways.

Now, if the vendor gets to the point where it sells out every day and I start getting messages askig for more stuff, I'll consider increasing the prices, but for now I seem to be making a reasonable profit.

I've been selling crates of 25 tissues of the more popular advanced tissues for 150k. Sounds like a heck of a lot, but I let the Tailors set my prices for me. Money is definitely in no shortage in this game, and those looking to wear enhanced clothing are more than willing to spend 20k+ per item of nicely enhanced gear. Tailors I sell to have their tissue-enhanced stock fly off the shelves. The difference between a tissue modded item of clothing and a normal item of clothing of the same type is about 15k... I have no qualms about getting a slice of the pie! No one is getting ripped off... customers purchase large amounts from Tailors, Tailor makes huge profit, part of profit filters back to the BE who is allowing that Tailor to make such a huge profit. Just supply and demand .

*** I'm on your server, in fact I've seen you around. I've been able to get pretty much all the bone and meat I need, never paid over 10cr/ea myself. ***

*shrug* Never heard of you ArthurDent - not that that really means anything on a server with a ton of folks.,..but I keep up with all the public BE's that post on the Bria forum, and can't say I've ever noticed ya

However, yeah - sometimes I get lucky and find stuff cheap...but in order for me to get resources to run 1k runs of tissues, I pay more to insure I get what I need. Some of the more contested meats, sometimes even 20cr/u isn't enough.

Still, in the end, we could ALL charge 2kcr per point of mod and folks would STILL buy them because they are cheaper than tapes.

I'm on the same server with both of you and I know of both of you although we have never spoken. I'm living proof that quiet bio engineers do exist on Bria. Bria bio engineers love to post and I love to read them. Arthur posts several posts daily in at least 3 of the swg forums that I frequent and I always enjoy reading what he has to say.

I do have to agree with Marthis on this one though, to get the highest quality hides/meat/bones/eggs, you either have to pay out the nose or farm it yourself. If you are content with the upper end resources it's not so bad but if you search for only the best, you're going to pay for it on Bria.

kinda funny the pricing in a way. Take the fear release. takes 85 resources. so simple at 10x a resource that only 850 each tissues and has nothing to do with how much power. So say get a 15. At what people saying the low price of 100 each add that makes it 1500. umm that is well over the 10c per resouce. I still say that SWG is the greediest game I ever played. Any way. I sell for 100c to outside PA. Nope I not sell many and when I put them on the bazar or my merhant they get bought and resold by others. I will not raise my price higher then what I think is fare and the above is way more then fare price. Least to me. You all can yap back and forth on pricing but no matter what, people will either buy them from you and resell at higher price or in the end force you to sell for more if you listen to all this junk on pricing here.

I don't bother with tissues. Resources are a problem and I don't need the money. Plus there seems to be a huge gap in what BE should sell them for and for how much some tailors think they shouldbuythem for.I make plenty off of just Stim B's, rancors, gurreks and mounts. And I don't participate in combat anymore either, so I don't buy weapons or armor but if I had to I'd still have a nice bank account.

Just not worth it IMO and no one said ya had to sell all three products. Personally I enjoy having time to spare to hunt (throw traps at and harvest) with friends, and go exploring.

crate of 5?? owch. So a tailor that makes a create of cloth/rfp from such crates loses 20% of their tissues right off the top that they buy from you. May as well not even crate at all eh?

The 5's are aimed at people who aren't tailors. They can then take the crate over to my tailor neighbors and get a couple of outfits put together. Tailors are smart enough to figure out that they can use multiple crates, since most factory runs I do produce multiple crates. (I'll typically NOT do a factory run for less than 50 of an item unless it's a special order.)

Well, I've finally decided on a method for pricing that I'm going to test out, and I have no clue if it'll work. 250cr/skillbox + 100cr/point. I made some plain Myoflex that was +7/+8, and am selling those for 1,300 each. Tissues 1 skillbox =500 (taking novice into account) + 800cr for the +8 dance bonus. I happened to have enough of the resources I was doing that with to make a run of a little over 100. I have no idea if they'll sell or not, I guess I'll see and adjust as necessary.

I also decided to do the same thing with clones. I don't forsee clones as being a focus for me, sampling DNA is a pain in the arse I don't care to play with often. So base 5,000 credits for the 5 DNA samples I have to get. Then skillbox * HAM, considering Novice 0 and Master 5. So the novice critters I'm putting out for a flat 5k. Yeah, there's plenty other BE's who'll be cheaper than me. This is just the method I'm going to go with to make things regular and predictable for me.

I just think that the skill level needed to make our products needs to be taken into account, as well as the assortment of resources we have to have on-hand to do so.

The above are my personal opinions, shared here in the interest of presenting a point-of-view that others may find helpful and in no way should be taken as a definitive guide.

On pricing.... you want to charge as much as you can without decreasing demand.

My prices are below and let me say first. Someone was talking about making average tissues. If you are a Master, you need to make stuff that looks like it was made by a Master. Don't compete with the Novice BE's. Let them get a little chunk too.

Even though I think the cost on say a Tensile Resistance should look like 3/12 is 1k credits and 600 credits per point above 12. So a 17 would be 4k... 15 would be 2800. By nature people yawn at average and get excited about exceptional. Your pricing needs to reflect that.

But for now at least, my pricing is 200 credits per point. If I have a Active Bio that is 15-13, I charge 2600 credits. 16-16 is 3200.

I do not get many complaints. I am not after a tailor that sends tells to every BE on the server and buys from the cheapest. For their loyalty though, I reward them.

**edit**, I wish I could put a pre ordered item on my trader that only that person could pick up. I had a crate for a Tailor once... so that we did not have to deal with trading/money issues, I put it on the trader while they were standing there. A different person that was standing there bought it first. hehe. ok, ok... That was an emotional moment.

I had a Master Tailor say that my 16/16 active biosensors cost too much at 3200 credits and she was not going to pay it. She said she could buy these tissues for 500.

I just said, "if you can buy tissues like these for 500 credits, you would be nuts not to".

If I had to sell those for 500 to sell them, I would quit selling them. hehe. What and incredible resource destroying method.

When the patch first came through, I sold the above tissue for 1600, but noticed that I had more orders than I had product and I could not afford to replace with that quality for that price easily. I decided, if I can not get the price, I will become a pet and pet stim salesman.

That is prob the same tailor that asked me for tissue when I was waiting on a shuttle. Told him I norm charge 200 per point and I got the same reply. I couldn't help myself - I just had to ask wth was he asking me for tissue then. Is just someone trying to get dirt cheap items so they can jack up the price for final product.

I sell almost all tissue at 2K per, singles or by the crate. Enhanced Myoflex I sell for 5K because of theegg and I get 5K for the Active Biosensor because the resources to make good ones are hard to find. Prices are basically fixed for me, unless egg and fish become easier to locate and gather, allowing me to reduce the price of those tissue.
