Thread: Droids & You
You can have up to 10 storage spaces in a single droid and you can have up to 5 droids in the datapad.
- Increase the storage to at least 50, like a backpack. Possibly you could introduce a series of storage unit modules of varying size (20 to say 80) that DEs could install depending on the frame size of the droid.
- Enable our crafting tools to see and use what's inside the droid's storage unit when he's out! Being able to pull resources from the droid storage unit directly into our crafting tool would be incredibly useful. As it is now I don't find droid storage useful. I might stuff a few crates in there in a moment of frustration and totally forget about them but that's about it.
- Bring back data storage, if only for schematics. As an exploringsort my datapad is always full of waypoints to neat locations, good vendors, my harvesters, my hermit friends' homes, etc. I often have to delete stuff to make room for those obnoxious subcomponent schematics that I then have to delete for the more important schematics. If I could stuff my schematics into my droid he'd get to see the light of day more often and I might actually get to 0/1000 on one before I destroy it.

- The idea of addinglimited vendor functionality is quite appealing. Perhaps with some sort of certification system so as not to infringe on merchants too terribly -- or give the certs for these droids to merchants, I suppose. But one to me too. Just one. It'd beGREAT to be able to whip out a droid and stock it when catering parties instead of standing there struggling with the trade interface, TEF structure ejections and full inventoriesfor 45 minutes to pass food and drink out to the guests.
- Give us stationary house-droids that we can leave in the world when we are not. Let other people benefit from their expertise (ie enabling crafting stations, enabling medicine use). These wouldn't really have to do anything fancy, could just be a glorified crafting station in acool frame and I'd still think it was great.
Things that would be neat:
- Let us set our droids in moods if they have the proper personality chip. I want to see idle animations, and accompanying reactions when I issue commands. Maybe limited meandering.
- Let other people interact with our droids if they are 'intelligent' enough. It would be really nifty if I could ask a droid about his functions, who made him, who his master is, and what he is doing. Wouldn't it? Huh? Huh?
- Let us use our stationary droids (see above) to recite information about our shops, museums, homes, etc. Just a little spot for barking info would be groovy. If could be activated when the droid is 'used' rather than when a player enters into its range (or you could make a series of chips with varying levels of control).Much cooler than a sign made from an armor segment.
- Let usprogram our regular droids with a few phrases if they are 'intelligent' enough and have the proper chips.I would like it a lot if I could program a blurb of text into my droid that he would deliver when I push the sayBlog1 button. I would use this for roleplay, but there are probably less silly reasons that this would be useful too. There could be modules of varying complexity DEs could install to this end, the first maybe a preprogrammed phrase or two ending with longer totally customizable ones.
- Give me an uber chef droid with bonuses to food assembly and food experimentation. No? Oh well.

That's all for now. Good luck and thanks for listening.

Delivery Droids.... Droids that will travel to a specific waypoint or possibly track down a player character and perform a trade with that character.
mmmmm... yeah

How about another type of survey droid? You place it near your vendor and it will give a short questionare to your customers:
"What item were you looking for?"
"Did you find the item you were looking for?"
"Do you think my master has too many medium harvesters in stock, not enough medium harvesters in stock, or just right?"
How abouta telemarketing or e-mail spamming droid? =)

Sales Droid / Sales Module ... I know thay are implementing a "barker" module that will spam adds... However if you could place items in the droid and have them sell them in situ. that would be great. and this would make more sense that a droid spamming "hey, you can buy X but you have to go to XXX XXX". can you image what Coronet is going to look like?

I could not agree with you more. The answer is not to add something that most people would argueable agree that is hated in modern society - SPAM. The answer is to make merchants more useful and have more competition and allow easier searches for what you are looking for. Bazaar = e-bay. Merchants should show up on Bazaar interface but specify they are vendors and their locations. All items need to be searchable and better organized into categories. Seems half the categories are unused now.
We need delivery droids and droids to take care of daily maintence of various objects (vendors, structures, factories, etc).
- SURVEY DROID!!!!!!!!
- REPAIR DRIOD --- Repairs VEHICLES and Harvetors
- BLL DELIVERY ----- Send a BLL to pick up my resources or make a delivery to a customer
- POWER DROID ---- keeps my harvetors from running out of power
the problem with the droids is the devs ---- they see things as a "skill" while the players dont really put any value on some of these things....
take SURVEY DROIDS which everyone wants....the SOE guys see surveying a skill ...like 1-4....now as players we don really see it as a something that valuable...i mean you can get along with survey 1 but survey 4 will make your life way easier....the only difference in the boxes is the distance....you really dont survey any BETTER, just farther....
the devs will think that if they put in survey droids that it will conflict with this skill and that some uppity artisans will complain....but to me its just like the scouts and camps issue..everyone had to have those silly camps..now they dont an we are all happy.
The survey tree is just left over from when there where more professions in beta....but in release it leads no where..the skills are not worth 4 boxes...no one should have to dig in the dirt on their hands and knees in the advnced society that we live in.
