Thread: RancorPoker's Guide To Sampling Mutant Rancors While Unbuffed/Unarmored

I picked up a technique from another forum, and have had credible success with it:
1) find your pack of MRs, once in sight of them target one from distance and type /waypoint
2) go about 200m away and set up your maskscent and/or beer/wine
3) zoom to the spot on your speeder hoping that they don't "appear" until you get there (never expected lag to be my friend)
4) stop on your active waypoint, be vewy, vewy still and use this macro:
/dismount;
/pause 1;
/sampledna;
/pause 1;
/mount speeerbike swoop; (this is assuming you are using a swoop. Modify accordingly- note that this system will only work with vehicle mounts, not creature mounts!)
At this point you will conduct the end of the sample while being on your swoop. The benefit of this is two-fold: You are ready for a speedy escape if you do get aggro'd, and you cannot attack from atop the bike thereby not accidentally drawing aggro from the other beasties. I typically use my hot-keyed /follow if they start to wander during the sampling.
Lots of success with this, even when not using thewaypoints technique.
I perform a similiar process when sampling from any dangerous creatures that may kill me. (In that I have no combat professions, this sadly includes crazed durnis.) I think, however, that if they would just fix the "sample from mount" issue to work with *us* too, it would be wonderful.
Of course, that's assuming Bioengineers are "crafters", which may get answered when they get to the non-combat changes after the coming CURB. Thanks, RancorPoker, for reviving this thread and dragging it to the top; this info is very useful, and the replies have been a wealth of knowledge about MR sampling, in general.
/kudos to all. I love being part of a community that has more than "target-kill-target next-kill" on the mind. (Yes, sometimes I do that... although not so much, anymore.)
