leveraging pistol skill does not make one more capable of training a creature, no matter how you dice it.

I am a masterch/tk on my main character and a ch/be on my alt. I have been making pets since I respecced to make for my main, so I am not as experienced as you full blooded BE here. But as a 2 year old CH, I have to say that those pairs and triplets are what interests me the most. They have a good size, they can have inredible health stats, I can give them better damage or defense if required by training abilities, AND they will be a decent size when grown (not too big!)
Please don't give up on creating pets or looking so pessimistically at the change. Your pets are going to be worth a lot more, as two level 40's will absolutely rock compared to wild ones. And you can create the pet that the CH wants to have - 2 level 40 rancors, or gurrcats, razor cats etc. Pets we can't find in the wild. Or a 60 tank and 20 little nipper that dashes in and lays some states on there. I am looking for several combos and am creating and testing as we speak - ready to decide what I really want as final pets. Yes my cl 80 pet might be a wild one if I can find one I want, mainly because I will choose a size that will remain the wild size. But my other pets will definitely be the BE ones.
As for CL 80 CH being the only ones to use CL 80 pets. I think that is fair. It's comparable to giving a CL 40 character the carbine designed for a master. To earn that carbine or that high level pet, the decision is made to go pure combat. That is what OddWan is, and I created my alt to be combat enough to survive but also enjoy the crafting. Oddi won't ever be able to enjoy that CL 80 pet she might make, but she was never planned to be a combat toon.
So are you saying that the MCH who are not a CL80 have no business with the master title? Well, then make Pike or sword or carbineer or rifle or pistol or what have you have the complete beginner profession mastered to earn the level 80 master title. Make it fair.
This isn't about making level 80 pets, hell we can do that now. This is about negating a persons master title - tell them so sad too bad you're not good enough for our game.
No - I am sorry if my statement came over as that; that someone who is not cl80 was not to be considered a master. We have almost all of us ch, remastered our profession with the introduction of the new ch system. It has taken me weeks to get all abilities and consider myself a master yet again. My point was meant to express the fact that one of me CHOSE to be a combat profession only. As a two combat profession then it might be considered reasonable to wish to fight with the best of weapons, as other professions do. As a TK maybe I have a different perspective to combat - I deliver weak damage and weapons are virtually nil, only the katarn knuckler being of any use to me. My pets are my weapons though to be honest - even with a level 70cl pet - I am tanking for it!
I had got my 2nd account from my son who stopped playing - I CHOSE to be a crafter with that one. First being a chef/tailor then selecting to be a BE/MCH as that is where my interests lay. Yes I am lucky I have 2 accounts, so I can pick and choose.
What I was trying to express, however badly, was that a combat class who chose to have 2 combat professions may be the ones to strive for even higher level pets. SOE have not stated that because you are cL 57 you are not a master CH and neither have I at any point in my post. They have stated that you MUST be cl80 to get the better weapons, and as I have invested most of my skill points into being a PvE combat and played my character as TK/CH for all of the life of swg, then my ch combat character is pleased. My BE character does not WANT to be a combat player, and therefore is satisfied with the cl57. We all make choices when we play our character. If I only had one account (which for most of my 2 years I had) then I would play as OddWan the combat toon. Personally I would love her to be master dancer too - but I can't have it all.
My post was written to try and be encouraging for the BEs who appeared to be worried about the effect of CHs who could tame level 80 and wouldn't want BE pets. But all of that has been ignored. My bad that I threw in a personal opinion as a CH.

LOL, the market for CL80 BE pets will be huge. Since wild tames will be rare and we can easily make CL80s this is not an issue to the BE pet crafter.
What will be an issue is if a similar penalty is added to MBE as it is being added to MCH. I'm already substandard to a Doc who dabbles in BE and I'm a 2-yrMaster of my profession. If I need to be a level 80 (which I believe is impossible in BE unless you are a Jedi) in order to sample higher level creatures then SOE and Lucas Arts has in effect slapped me in the face and basically told me to leave the game.
If SOE and Lucas Arts want to add higher level pets then there needs to be an extension of said profession, something beyond Master CH. To do less is to make all non-CL 80 Masters a sub-class and effectively says to the player base that they are not welcome in SWG.
BE has been slapped down several times by the dev team but we are a resilliant group and always fight back. Perhaps we can clone an effective dev team. Well, at least we can dream...
Actualy we are substandard to all crafter as we are the only hybrid crafter proffesion now. This means we spend 15 to 29 more skill points to get out base proffesion than any other crafter proffesion. Thats just wrong, in the past at least CM was a crafter of sorts and so we werent alone. With the ranger revamp maybe the DEV's will either look at us as a crafter class or a combat class, well i can dream right?
