Antimony, I can't possibly see how this thread can offend someone of your calibur. You obviously know your stuff and are very well read on the boards. You know the dynamics of the boards and the people who are here and could teach several of us a thing or two, especially an upstart like me.However, this thread is NOT discouraging posting of multiple questions on the same topic. It is also NOT discouraging people to ask questions about vague points in the FAQ. All it is saying is that if you post saying "I want a recipie" you're going to get told to read the FAQ. Just look at the posts from the past 2 days. There are posts asking for help in certain recipies and there are posts just asking for recipies. Guess what? This thread holds true in that those just asking for recipies and not for help are being told to go to the FAQ and nothing more is said. Those asking for help are getting it. I don't see the problem here.

Sorry, I seem to be beating a dead horse here, but I just want everyone to understand that this thread is not meant and shouldn't be read as telling people not to post if they have a question. I have posted several questions on the boards asking anything from why my specials aren't sticking to what Force Strike does. I had no problems getting the help I needed and even though one of my questions was kinda super stupid, looking back in retrospect, I wasn't flames and I was helped very quickly. This thread is not discouraging stupid questions, or repeat topics, it is discouraging begging for recipies.

You're never a pain Talth Its always good to have a different perspective on issues. Not everyone thinks the same way - I didnt find anything offensive in the post but obviously to some people, what was said could be intepreted in a different and offensive way.
If you hadnt posted then people may have been offended by the contents and put off the BE profession and forums.

Everybody is free to share their opinions and I hope that everybody on the forums can respect other peoples opinions enough to take into consideration what another person may think without resorting to flames.

This thread should not be stickied and should be forgotten. The whole reason you made this post is because there are those who don't take the time to read the faq or look at the page or a couple back (this is ignoring the fact that the search engine is broken, the trade forums are worthless unless you have uber loot, and the recipe link in the faq is easily over looked). However, those that you are trying to reach won't read this. Why would they? If they already don't read the first page or two, or the faq, why would they take the time to read this? The only thing you've done is anger those of use who do our best to not re-ask a question for the millionth time, and get those with little patience even more worked up. I'm sorry. Wait no I'm not. This thread is highly offensive. Any humor that you intended was missed as the whole post prior to it was highly confrontational and insulting.

Ok, maybe I'm going off the deep end here, but I don't see this post as offensive. However, I would like to hear why it is offensive to some of you. And please don't quote the afforementioned "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out." It has been quoted 2 times and both were out of context. For an excellent interpretation of the original idea of this thread, go back and read Voke's post.

Remember, this thread is not attacking anyone. It is mearly stating that constant threads that ask for pet recipies without the poster even trying to do it on his/her own will be, and should be ignored. Lets face it,grinders do just that, grind. They then come out as master and have no idea how to go about making a pet. Since making a pet is very complex compared to any other crafting instance, the easy way is to ask on the board for recipies. Now, unless you've never done a crafting proffession in your entire time on SWG, you know that every crafting board has a FAQ stickey. The problem with the pet FAQ is that it is long, and justifyably so since it is a long, drawn out and complex process, especially if you get into second generation stuff (not sure if that's in the FAQ...) Anyway, the quick fix folks aren't too in to reading allthat, mainly because you pretty much have to take notes in order to get all the great info stored up in the FAQ. Who the hell wants to take notes to play a game?

It is difficult, yes, to find a common ground here. The old masters have worked very hard to research what goes into making a good pet. Some of the new grinders have no idea, and will never have an idea of how to go about experimenting and messing around with different DNA to make new combinations of pets. I think the idea here is for the quick and dirty people to get their quick and dirty recipie ideas from the FAQ. There are plenty of links there for you to find anything from level of creatures you are sampling to actual recipies. They are not hard to find as they are in boldface and in a different color than the rest of the text. If you are having a problem getting something to work, yes, ask on the boards and a bunch of people will reply and help you out as much as possible. If you just want a recipie, look at the FAQ.
