Congrats to whoever started this.. good tips despite a few useless comments..

But anyway, while perusing though various websites i found that Nightsister / Singing mountain Clan rancors have better resists than normal rancors, albeit at lower HAM.

Now, does anyone have ideas for getting samples from these?

I've heard that its possible to befriend these two clans to the point where they won't attack you... any other ways for getting near their rancors without agro? I assume that the NS would set the rancors on you if you get too close, and theres nothing i know of to use for sneaking up on humans (or as close to humans as NS get)

I think the best way to do this is to figure out where the Tamers are (as NS/SMC rancors always have a Rancor Tamer near them), and then look for the rancor farthest away. You can also ride in with a speeder and draw them all off, and then sneak up and sample after they peace. That way you get them away from the Tamers and they become less dangerous and a little easier to sample. I've done this lots of times, especially when I was first starting out on the Breeding Ground and wanted to see all the specials the various rancors had.

On a side note, I do not think it's possible to befriend a clan to the point where they won't lay the beatdown on you when the opportunity arises; I say this because I have +5000 SMC faction, and I got killed by one of their Guardians or some such last night. I guess I got too close into her comfort zone, so she annihilated me. The point is, it seems the SMC and the NS will take on and destroy all comers

I had +5000 Nightsister and they wouldnt aggro on me no matter how close I got. Although I never tried the cave when I had that rating.

(It's gone now after killing shed load of them)

Jawa Beer + Mask Scent, and Mask Scent Clothing (jacket, shirt, pants, bandoleer) are the only way to go. I have tried a master Ranger's camo kits...and it breaks every single time. You can usually work a deal with a tailor to get your clothes made free, just toss in some extra tissues or what not

You're mistaken about the BE clothing cap.

The +25 cap is a per garment cap. Ex: I place three +10 Taming <or whatever> synth cloth in a Wookie Sage Helm. Total pluses to Taming is....

capped at +25. Not +30.

Place three +10 Taming synth cloth in a Deco Waist Wrap. Total pluses to Taming, the cap +25.

Total Bonus to Taming Skills, not bugged, is +50. There is a cap to total skill based on a formula I cant recall.

Lisa, I think you're mistaken. Although it will display +50, it is capped at +25. I'll point you to the skill mod Friday Feature here: http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Advanced%20Guide%20Skill%20Mods

In it it says the following.: If you are wearing an item that enhances the skill mod category, the maximum value it can be increased is +25

The original question was.: "

i seem to recall reading somewhere that skills had a cap of 100? is this correct? eg: i have 100 in wound treatment, i equipt some BE clothing, that gives me +55 will i get the full effect, or will i still heal as if i had 100?"

And TH's response was.:"It caps at +25 total."

It cannot be increased over +25 by wearing multiple items.

Then why bother posting to notify us of your intent to not tell us anything anyway?

The whole point of these Forums is to positively contribute to the Bio-engineering community; last I checked, sharing information is a requirement. You're welcome to take what you want from these boards (heck, we couldn't stop you if we wanted to), but if you don't have anything to share...then don't post Just don't go around telling everyone, "Oh, I know all sorts of cool stuff, and even though I take things from the community, I refuse to give anything back." Such statements are simply a waste, both of our reading time and of board space.

Agreed

Then don't read/use them...It's that simple See, within the real-world scientific community, there's this process called "peer review." Its purpose is to allow other scientists the opportunity to objectively analyze and discuss the work of a particular researcher, and then decide if the work is useful/repeatable. Pretty simple, and it serves as an excellent way to filter out the junk but keep the good stuff.

Such a concept holds true here. We post something...other bio-engineers critique it...and then we all decide if the information shared is repeatable/useful. This principle holds in every true scientific community, and it is especially true here. We seem to be pretty harsh on the people who post non-constructive, useless crap, but we seem pretty accepting of people who have something legitimately useful to share or who want to ask some kind of legitimate question.

In short, if you don't want to participate, that's fine. If you've got a problem with the flow of information, that's fine too. You're not gonna stop it (this is the Information Age, after all) I'd be willing to bet that the bio-engineering community as a whole understands the concept of peer review (if not in so many words) and the idea of information-sharing. That's why we're here. If we all took your attitude of "having a problem with pet guides" or if we all decided that we didn't want to spread the wealth, so to speak, this community would cease to exist. Your apparent goal of selfish information-hoarding would thus be accomplished.

Anyway, I'm going to step down from my soapbox now I think I've made my point, and if you choose not to participate, then so be it. Just don't ridicule the hard work of others (such as SWG Bio-engineer), and keep your non-constructive comments to yourself, ok?
