I think we should go with the Vendor at Master question. Even if a MBE wants to keep artisan for survey, it still frees up 9 points.

NancyJ,
Just a thought - but do we know for sure that sampling is supposed to stop at cl75? - Since we get up to 100 of the sampling skill (forget what its called), it would make sense that we can sample up to cl100 (just the chance would be very very low). It may be a design decision to cap us at cl75, I was just curious if it was. If we haven't asked maybe we should.
Also any word on the list of types of ranged attacks from creatures?
If he doesn't want to tell us what they do, maybe we could get a request in from the rangers that they should be able to see the type of ranged damage as part of their skill?

No answer on that yet - but he's not does last weeks questions yet either. Jedi revamp being pushed back has really thrown the schedule off

Getting a TEF while sampling has only happened once to me. An overt Reb came by and shot at the lair which aggroed the creature I was sampling.

My question is, Are there any plans to put anything in place like SEA's, skill ajustments or game ajustments that would let us sample above CL 75.

OK, beaten to death, but it is my biggest concern. And if enough of us continue to complain maybe we will be heard:

Real-time knowledge of CL and stats during experimentation and DNA storage.

I have been Master Artisan and Master DE. With all the products I made in those professions I could tell what the final product was going to be like during experimentation. I have talked to many people in other professions and they report the same.

I get a lot of people asking me to make them non-CH pets. It is at least half my business now. It is really frustrating trying to GUESS how much to experiment during the crafting process just so I could be dissapointed with a final pet that is CL11, or one that IS CL10 but only has a HAM of 250.

I am getting SOOOOO tired of making six to seven pets to get ONE that is acceptable to the customer.

It isn't like our customers are going to pay us for the clones we mae that didn't make the cut is it?

As a MA I never had to make six Swoop Speederbikes to get one that was acceptable. As a MDE I never had to makefour ADV R3 droids to get one that was just right.

I don't know of any other profession that NEEDS to craft to a certain level and then STOP. In other professions you want to experiment as much as you can. You never find someone telling a MDE that he wants a combat droid that has a CR of 410-420...They want the most they can get. You never see a person telling a MWS that she wants a Laser Rifle that only does 200 damaga and has a speed of no more than 4.5...They want the most damage and the fastest speed they can get. You never see a MAS asked for armor that has a max resist of 20 and no more than 15000 armor rating do you? No, again they want the max they can get! But WE do get these requests! We DO get people coming up and saying, "I am non-CH and I want four Cu Pas at CL10 with the highest HAM you can give them." OK, so now we have to 1) Limit the CL to 10, 2) Max out the HAM (Without making the CL go over 10, mind you), and 3) Make sure it isnt aggresive witch would also botch the non-CH status.

This is a lot of work!...Actually a lot of GUESTIMATING! I go through a LOT of DNA samples in the process. When I got that order I made a total of 20 Cu Pas in order to get four that were acceptable non-CH pets. I am not MBE yet, and I have only been BE for a few weeks. I am sure that some of the long-time BEs can do this in a fewer number of attempts. But what about the rest of us?

And it isn't like another profession where I could just keep making item after item from our resource container that holds 100000 units of resource. No, DNA can not be stacked like that. Each one is unique and takes up one storage slot. The only real way to store a large quantity of DNA samples is in a vendor. How about a special pack for BEs (GEE, A LOOT OR SCHEMATIC IDEA HERE)that can hold several hundred DNA samples? (WEARABLE BY WOOKIES PLEASE!)

Bottom line: Not being able to see the CL and other vital stats is BS and unfair. How would the DEVs like it if they didn't know what their pay checks were going to be before they got them? They could put in a lot of time, do a lot of work, but they really couldn't budget their money because they wouldn't know how much they were going to get until the check was cut. Probably wouldn't slide would it?

...about the vendor, I'll tell you guys like I tell the CH's that want BE-similar skills or options....if you want another profession's ability, then take up that profession as well--it will require some sacrifice on your part, but such is the game. Me personally, I decided on opening another account--sux, but it's fair. As BE's we can atleast put our products on the bazaar, if you want a vendor though, you'll have to go artisan0030 I believe.

I actually agree with ZardoZap on this one, lets just ask simple questions, like "what is the CL sampling cap?"

One thing I would ask of the devs to do for us, would be to make changes to our template schematics. Currently if you make a schematic instead of a prototype, it will list under Resources: how many of what kind of dna samples were used, but it only says the quality(vhq, hq, aaq), not the actual type(MR, FG, BMB, etc)...since we can't do factory runs, we should atleast have a way to make custom pet crafting tool schematics as a way of saving our recipes. It won't make a perfect copy, but it'd help those of us that sometimes throw dna together and forget what went where. Only thing I can think of that would make this difficult would be multi-generation clone dna......

A second account? That's the same, the whole point of these different professions and the reason why you can only make certain partsis for interdependencies, but this is destroyed by people who get second accounts. It's impossible to find a merchant willing to sell your crap, cause there are no merchants that are just merchants to be merchants. This would be huge nuisance, and there is no safety or tracking system. Most Merchants are the second account that they bought to support their first character which was a crafter, but when they got the second account they madethe second character the crafter, and then make their main the combat character or vice versa.

The whole reason we need this is because of the vendor exploit, and second accounts. I hope this will change once they fix the vendor exploit, because many will be back in the no vendorboat, and hopefully there will be pure merchants that emerge form this, because right now I would guess that less than half of all vendors are legit. But without a good system it would be royal pain in the neck to sell someone else’s crap with any kind of decent volume. Can you imagine selling things from multiple people? How many items do you have on your vendor? Do you remember what a pain it was loading all that stuff on there? Would you have done it if they weren’t yours?

My point is that without an appropriate tracking system merchant is no fun whatsoever and is not practical. I believe they should just redistribute the skills throughout all elite crafting professions. After JTL they could do this, and replace the 3rd column of Artisan with Ship parts or something. I will go start a fire over on the merchant forum, and see what they think.

When they take away vendors from those who don't have merchant skills, they'll get a second account. Your idea about merchant vendors/skills being included with elite crafting professions, isn't bad at--to those of us who need vendors but don't want togive up skill points--but if there are ANY real buyers and sellers in the merchant profession, they may cry foul. There may be those who want merchant to take a lot more skill points to prevent dabbling for vendors, but again, that just leads to a second account...

Nancy-

I for one would like to ask if they would consider "raising the bar", i.e., raising the level of sampling at master. It is well within our capabilities to make CL75 creatures, but in essence they are STILL all rancor knock-offs. In order to get true diversity for high-end pets, we need more high-end vict-, er, "donors" for DNA samples. Like Blurrg Sandcrawlers, or some other CL 120 or less critters.

The only other question that comes to mind would be regarding the issue of adjusting size- I for one want to be able to instill dwarfism or giantism in certain species. (Obviously, if it's big already we can't make it giant-er...but I wanna make a leviasquall, dangit! or a Huge frickin' jax we can saddle! And wouldn't a dwarf snorbal be soooo cute?)

Alright the Blaze is over in the merchant forum, It appears that there are many who do or did buy wholesale and sell retail, but the vendor bug has driven most of them out of that. It seems that they will return when it is fixed. I also asked them to post a sticky list of merchants and what server they were on, what they were interested in selling. I also suggested that they push the devs for a tracking system and a way for duel payouts from vendor sales, that way they could be set up to auto distribute proceeds.

I withdraw my vendor suggestion until we see what happens after the exploit vendors are gone. I also discovered that a majority of their posts are people from other proffessions posting similar ideas. There were 3 of us over there with the same idea, I did appologize to them for suggesting their profession be disbanded. It seems that the biggest issue is the vendor exploit and people with second accounts.

I'd just like to say I am extremely frustrated with the skill point allotment for MBE. First of all, we have to go up two trees to even get to Novice, and essential things such as mask scent aren't even included in that path. And then the whole thing with merchant, it is extremely frustrating. I for one am not going to get a second account, but I'm not going to hire a merchant.

I would say my overall frustration outside of the vendor issue is mask scent and why we don't have it in our path. Thanks,
