Well I also posted this in the artisan forums, but no one seems to be answering....
Maybe one of you guys know, since most architects have mastered both professions.....
Am i doing something wrong with the surveying? I am only getting 28-33 xp per time when I get resources...
Is there any way to speed this up?

If I recall right 20-30 xp sounds like what you get.
No way to make it faster. Its just slow.

Just to bring us up to present standards...
The new action/mind bar system post-cu make it easier to sample for longer periods of time. I use the following to great effect when needed:
/afk;/kneel;/sample;/pause 600;/sit;/afk;/pause 30;
You can technically sample indefinitely without pausing, as your action bars will regenerate fster tahn sampling uses them now - however there are times when the system will dump a series of survey results so quickly that your entire mind bar drains and you'll stop sampling. The 30 second pause is enough to allow your sample timer to reset, and then you're back in business. The /sit is rather uneccesary, but it's useful for tracking current state of action. I run multiple instances and use the non-active character as a bonus harvester...surprisingly effective. I should track the BER rating of a toon sometime in this manner but I'm inclined to put it on par with a Heavy Harv....certainly better than BER10.
Cheers,

Keep in mind that your survey XP gained is directly proportional to the amount of resources you are recovering per sample. To maximize this, be certain to find the highest concentration of ANY resource available - certainly no less than 90%. Other than that, it's just a time-consuming grind.

I saw a macro on this boards a couple days ago, but cant seem to find it again. The search function is not working apparently.
It automatically updates your target based on a command. Something like /set_targetname so you can set a name in your macro without having to open the edit window.
There was one a few pages back:
findtarget
!/target;
/pause 3;
!/target;
/pause 3;
/macro findtarget
But this one doesnt work correctly. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
