Of course you have to factor in the gravity of each of these planet, which never seems to be stated. I mean if the gravity were light on dathomir perhaps the arachnid idea would work. You actually have to figure the AP, and gravity being low on all of the planets otherwise the giant spider's and such would never be possible. The external skeleton would stop functioning whentheir volume started growing so much more than their area in heavy pressure.
But its a game, so it doesn't really matter
well actuallythe gravity on all the planets seems to be the same, given the kinematics and physics of running, speeders, and the /jump command =)
i think i did read somewhere that dath was supposed to be a low-grav world though...still, doesnt explain the phenotypic differences between rancors and chelicerates. The gravity is irrelevant to the big spiders, though, as it first must overcome a volume versus surface area ratio problem, which is why you dont see giant bugs on Earth today or ever in the past. Since all terrestrial arthropods lack an active respiration system, instead relying on passive diffusion of gases between tissues within the body cavity through spiracles in their abdominal exoskeleton, once they become so large that the rate of diffusion to the innermost tissues is slower than the metabolic uptake and production of gases in those tissues, the creature no longer becomes metabolically viable =) So I guess what you can gather from that is that klikniks, dalyrakes, nightspiders, arachnes and the lot all must be hollow =D
