Thread: New BE Patch: What is Possible?
The nice thing about complex systems is that they can all be dumbed down if you don't want to explore the full monte. Lets take this cloning system for example, you have 5 slots which all combine to make a single clone. If you stick 5 utterly different samples in then you have all hell breaking lose however if you stick5 samples from the same species in you get a very obvious outcome (a copy).
So it is actually a system for every one, the fact is though if you want to compete with those who take the effort to learn the system you have to as well. Otherwise when a customer acts for a complex build you'll be forced to turn them down saying that you only do copy cloning. What makes me laugh though is that all of us asked for a system where we could do things like this but it was never going to be possible without alot of complexity.
Look pal, you don't owe me a thing. I read that thread thoroghly and yes, it's riddled with nonsense. I'm not using nonsense from the perspective of I don't undersatand, I mean nonsense as in people are posting bits and peices of technical information that add up to just about nothing.
The reason it adds up to nothing is because most expiriments that I have read about have been on ridiculous creatures like cupas that provide very little benchmark to the changes. People also give half answers that even really good BE's don't understand because they are being so cryptic and simply don't want to take the time to complete an informative sentence.
If I asked you how to fix my computer and you sent me a link to a site that had comprehensive (regardless of how techical) information, I could solve my problem.
Again, you owe me nothing, but I did give 3 examples, as ridiculous as they may be of potential freaks you could make and you could have simply speculated to a rough degree how ridiculous they were. 2 minutes of your time.
Instead, you send me to a link that some bio-engineers even admit they don't understand.
You guys are about to completely take the creature selling business away from CH's and you can't even throw a bone anywhere in this forum to what kind of uber, non cupa creatures we will be able to control. I personally don't care about creature sales. I'm happy to buy creatures out of your vendors or on special order for one million each.
Look at the CH boards. Every other post is somone asking what the new "uber" creatures are. The CH's that are on TC all say the same thing: "aparently the best creatures in the game will come from BE's with their changes, but no one is giving up any information".
So thanks for the link. I'll go back to the CH boards and report to them that we will be using cupas that have been merged with spineflap dna because the decay resistance of the avain meat can increase the heat special protection by 3%.
No, you don't understand. BE's on TC must still be working it out (which again is fine). Otherwise, you would have directed me to a link where someone posted stats on a Rancor that they are very proud of or that at least showed the potential of what could be done if the resources were better.
Or no, Wasabi, your 90% kinetic medium armor gurreck is never going to happen, but I speculate that you could have a gurreck much like the one you have right now except 60% kinetic at the sacrifice of any other protections. And you can make him purple too.
It's a conspiracy I tell you. Whitey is trying to keep the purple Mon Cal down. Power to the fish unless you can use my dna tomake a great creature.
In that thread there is a list of creatures we can make(link toTal's site). There is lots of information about what we can do as far as specials, resists, CL,and so forth, so it sounds pretty straight forward to extrappolate about what sorts of combinations we can do. Thankfully, still lots of unknowns, and should be fun playing with and discovering all that.
As far as specific recipies (i.e. "how good of a gurreck can you make?") that is asking a bit much since it's in TC not live. Those recipes will emerge soon enough, but the folks there I'm sure are much more worried about "does the system work?" rather than "what's the most uber pet?".
Hehe, I'm liking this system already. Rewards the informed and dilligent, and penalizes the clueless and lazy.

Cyberrico you are an ignorant little twit who is just trolling, you expect things to be handed to you on a platter and some people were kind enough to oblidge you with enough of the solid information we have on a system that we have only had limited contact with via people on the TC. That was already more than you deserved and still you insulted people who attempted to help because you're expecting us to know everything about a totally new system and put it to you in terms that a 3yr old would understand.
The fact is we cannot do that, if thats not good enough then shut up, wait for the patch and have your moan and bitch once you and we have enough facts to discuss it properly. However given that would require some effort on your part I'm expecting you to simply walk out on the profession after a mindlessrant first to people who will now not give a rats ass about your opinion. That being said, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
I've been about at curtious as I could be, you return that favour with insults then you shouldn't expect me to smile sweetly and try to explain again.. your not worth it.
Look this system has been working on Test for what, less than two weeks. Test BE's aren't going to find out everything that is possible by testing all of the limits in that time. I'm more interested in their testing that it works. Gross tests of varying dna's to test where atributes are weighted are great and since I doubt most of them are masters on test using a Novice or Clone 1 creature is a perfect test base. That way they can compare outcomes. How much would we learn if all of them were making creatures that were apples and oranges.
I understand how you feel. I want to have my Uber pets ready for sale as soon as possible on the patch day so thatI can be part of mad sales rush and make a metricF-load of money. Our reps as BE's will be on the line, so to speak, and a lot of Ch's will want to know what we cook up. They'll want the uber, but we can't supply that without knowing the basics. I'll do mybest to make thefinest high Cl critters I can make that day, but I've resigned myself to knowing that I'll craft some things that a month or two down the road I won't be that proud of.
At the end of the day, the test BE's are only showing us some of the alphabet, we'll have to write the sonnets on our own.
I don't expect people to have the answers in 2 weeks.
That wonderful explanation I got from Loperis NOT in that linked thread.
Thanks a bunch Loper for providing me with that great information. Believe me when I say there are thousands of CH's in the dark about this. And although the exact limits of what BE's can finally do are still obviously in question, you have put a lot of light on the subject. I apologize if in my obviously joking response to your link seemed like a flame. I was actually making fun of how overwhelmed I was in my ignorance after reading that thread. Thanks again.
To the rest of you: bite me. Make up your minds. This information that NONE of the rest of you were willing to share is either so new you didn't know, or it is easy to find information that any 5 year old noob could have found. Both statements are untrue for the most part. I think many of you were frustrated that you didn't know what's up (again understandable) and that was not easy information to find.
It's not like I asked where Theed was. I'll bet a million credits that half the BE's that read Loper's information quietly said to themselves, "Wow, we are going to be that cool?". Read the brilliant (sarcasm) repsonses in that link before you flame me again and say otherwise.
And frankly bravo to all of you for getting these new improvements. I can see your frustrations all over this forum and you are finally getting your just rewards.
Next time you don't know, just say nothing or say I don;t know. You flame me, you're gonna get flamed back.
Thanks again.
Happy Holidays
What's possible? Well, as far as we can see (yes, you have me here, we're not 100% certain yet, but fairly so, and folks like Talthazar have gotten some seemingly repeatable results) we'll be able to borrow stats DIRECTLY from a wild creature and place them into a clone.
Now.. What this basicly means is that yes, it will be entirely possible to have a CL 70 rnacor with 90% KR, AR1, high HAM (how high has yet to be seen as it seems that this is being generally lowered across the board) and low damage. In your example you used an arbitrary number like 10-20 pts of damage as an extreme. Realisticly that won't be do-able only because to make a CL 70 clone we will have to obtain DNA from 5 lvl 70 creatures (or at least 5 creatures with an average lvl of 70) to make the clone, which will likely not have damage at such extremely low numbers, but it sill could have relavily low damage, say in the 300-400 ish range.
What's more, this same Rancor might also have a Poison ranged attack, and use KD and Stun as it's specials instead of Intimidate and Dizzy: It's completely based in where the DNA came from and not what the creature looks like.
I hope you can see why your orginal quesiton is tough to answer. Technically, anything is possible provided that some creature somewhere has the desired attributes and is in the level range of the desired (finished) clone.
I appologize sincerly for aggrivating you: that was not, and is not my goal. We're (BEs) still trying to figure out HOW to get the stuff to work, where you're interested only in WHAT will work. It's not the same thing, and I appologize for implying that it might be.
Hopefully that short example helps a little bit.. if not, let me know and I'll try to illustrate a couple more, including some radical but possible creature types.
Tal-N posted someplace that the new system should be quite interesting, because we can try something, and if we like it, sample it again, and use it for creating something better. Kind of like how geneticists today make a black rose. But, it turns out that it can't be done, because sampled clones give garbage DNA.
If the system stays the same, I don't think it will be possible to make a creature with ridiculously high HAM, and ridiculously low dmg. We will have more control then we do today, but still not the ability to do what we really want to do.
If the clone-sampling is fixed, then I think anything will be possible. I do think the 95% kinetic is aufully high, and unlikely to be reached, but 80% kinetic/light armor may someday be possible.
BEs, shame on you for jumping on him. This is the question we all want to see answered eventually.
Hello all,
I am brand new to the profession, and I am really excited about the changes coming in the update. My biggest beef with BE (and, Incidentally why I waited to pursue it heavily) was that there was very little customization available for the clones. While the complexity of the cloning process has been increased dramatically, the end result will make BE's one of the better professions in the game. Personally, I hate crafting, (specifically because of the fact that it was click click click brainless) but with the changes in the BE clone crafting procedure, I will actually have to consider options and THINK for a change. Challenge is good. Challenge can be fun. Personally, I look forward to seeing how much of an Uber-Creature I can make at my decidedly noob level.
At least it will be FUN again.

Well said! I too am looking forward to playing "MAD SCIENTIST" with all sorts of DNA combo's! Can't wait for this to hit live...well...unless it's not working right, then I can wait. ![]()
