They do however attack other things that you "run them through" like backerasets, which is kinda cool, hehe.

Now that they've done for a while. I always liked whenI could find mutants near something else because I knew I could run through the other spawn and they'd attack the mutant. Mutants don't seem well-liked on Dath

They changed this around the time of the creature revamp. Mobs now recognize if you're the controller whether you're grouped or not.

I always leave my bike out. That way if they agro I just hop on it and race away

seriously.... it's the ultimate escape plan

also conceal seems to work more for NPC's than creatures but HELPS mask scent.... but that's just from what i've read and gathered, so i may be wrong
exploration IV +25 mask scent clothes and jawa beer works fine with me so a ranger shouldn't have too much trouble sampling them

I used the same get away tactic for a while now, the problem comes when your bike is left a little out of reach, and like I said--once you hear the music sometimes you are already dead...before I could clone I saw my bikes ripped apart in 2 hits...oh well, now I just get there by bike and pull out my mount to go exploring--no fast get away, but my mount is CL61 and can take aggro for me til I have a head start and then I call'm back.

As for the mask scent breaking, you guys are right to a certain extent, you can stop and remask hopefully, but if you try every approach angle and still it breaks and you get aggroed, then it becomes clear to me that that particular spawn will not be undone by mask scent--I've worked some spawns for hours without even achieving a sampling attempt. It happens, I move on to the next spawn, or for revenge I find some jedi and give'm the coordinates to the spawn...good bye rancors!

With the groups I have tried to sample from, they do not attack one another. They all focus on me or my pets.

Bleagh, don't you guys wear any armor?

I've been having pretty good success tonight, getting around 7 samples in 2 hours. I've only got exploration IV, so my mask scent break tends to be my biggest problem. Anyways, using a full suit of ubese and some synthsteak, I take hardly any damage from these guys when they do agro (this is running around with all stats migrated to mind, 1 brandy and 1 acagrim (sp?) mind you.)

I have stalked a few mutants so far, but only sampled two. I find Bark Mite Burrowers just about as good. Better HAM too. But haven't really gotten enough Mutant DNA to really say for sure.

But the erason I replied is to mention how I got one sample... A mutant aggro'd me and I took off with it on my tail. Burst Run. I ran thru a yellow spawn of something.. Forget what. But I watched them fight. The mutant was winning. So when it had killed two and was working on the last one, I mask scent and walked up to 14-15m behind it and waited. Sure enough.. it peaced-out. I got my sample and then died on the second sample attempt. hehe

In my experience, groups larger than three are not worh the effort, to many chances of agro, unless you can lure one away, maybe, but even then I have never gotten a sample... I think these groups may be bugged, becuase it seems that three is the correct spawn, at lease more prevalant.

When I get agroed, I just use my lvl 35 & 24 to take it down, blind, intimidate and stun make easy work of most anything under lvl 80/ 20k ham

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

BMB is great, but nah, not close. You can find mutants that have well over 14k of HAM, and that's 2k-3k above BMB. The other thing about BMB is that it is relatively low in the damage (dps) department, and it has a lot of vulnerabilities.

when you get at 65m they "detect you despite maskscent"--THAT'S IT....do not waste your time on that spawn

I'm gonna do the naked thing next...after my old set of maskscent clothes reach zero--tired of insuring and wasting money.

I agree with the standing still thing. Naked (no mask) I can creep up on them. If i get a ! ususally means I didn't go in form the back. If for some reason I grab aggro on the group I just do area attacks til they drop close to death, MOST nps/critters will unaggro you to lick their wounds and slowly walk away. Dispatch teh remaining rancors beating on you and sample the weak fleeing ones.

Last I checked modded clothes/armor still maintain the stat bonuses even if at zero condition. My armorsmith still gets an extra pt of experimentation with his crafting suit even though various pieces are at zero.
