Can MBE sample DNA from a CL75 Mutant Rancor?

Only reason im asking, is i have noticed if i use /conceal from ranger for camo kits i tend to fail however if i use /maskscent i can sample just fine so im not sure if this is just me or if it happens to others as well.

Thanks.

Mutant Rancors are the highest mobs we can sample. Not sure about conceal vs. mask scent since I'm not a ranger.

Also not sure about conceal vs mask scent. But I was able to sample Mutant Rancors without either just before dropping BE with my alt, slow and from behind.

I got 9 samples in 6 hours on Sunday. My mask (+125 mod) never snapped but I continued to draw aggro from the entire group before getting close enough. But yes, I can sample lvl75 mutants, it's just really hard. Out of the 9 samples, I managed 1 critical failure, a lvl75, and a lvl68. 9 hours for a 33% failure rate had my computer nearly out the Windows (tm).

Sound about like my last trip 9 samples1 hour1cl 73 (crit fail on second gen) 1 cl 64 and one cl 70(losing connection while picking a color).

So yes you can sample them but unless you have a special order for a cl 70 pet is it really worth it?

I know nothing of camo kits, but here are my observations: When you find a group of Mutant Rancors, and you crawl/sneak/tip toe/ your way towards them--if when you get at 65m they "detect you despite maskscent"--THAT'S IT....do not waste your time on that spawn, it is meant to break maskscent as part of dath being an advanced planet...however, if you you get within 65m and continue undetected, then you have a shot, and only something stupid will end your chances at dna sampling--like being detected by another mob too close to the spawn---GRRR!!!! Being able to sample is only half the battle, it's getting a successful sample from them that hs you holding your breath, cause chances are, if you fail and they aggro--by the time you hear the music, you are dead.

Dath doesn't seem to care how much mask scent skill we have, it is meant to be broken, and t'll use the lowest level aggros to the highest to achieve that goal. I'm gonna do the naked thing next...after my old set of maskscent clothes reach zero--tired of insuring and wasting money.

IMPORTANT NOTE: when sampling mutant rancors, always store you vehicle before attempting approach--they will find and destroy your vehicle--they did it to me twice in just 2 days.

I always leave my bike out. That way if they agro I just hop on it and race away

Actually I never found this to be true. I always just stop moving and wait. Most often you can remask and continue. Once you get within 40m there is a good chance they will aggro when they detect you. If that happens they often aoe bleed and the entire nest start fighting each other and then it is really pretty much over. I have waited out the fight popped off a few shots to get harvest rights and then continued in to sample the survivors, but it takes so long it's hardly worth the wait.

I used to see this all the time, but you know what? The last 4-5 times I've gone out to get dna I haven't seen this happen once. Perhaps something has happened in this regard. Have you seen this happen recently?

Agreed though about re-masking. You have a decent chance of being able to continue.

Also, dunno whereScout iscoming from re: mask scent. Generally my mask scent holds just fine unless I come across the real uber (CL 70 and above) stuff, then of course it breaks much more than it holds. I certainly wouldn't fathom going dna hunting on dath without my mask scent, mask scent clothing, and jawa beer.

Have to admit, I haven't done a lot of smapling lately. I lost all my factories and with them all my harvesters and a ton of resources when I wasn't able to play there for a while. When I came back I ground the holo's on my second account. I started him to run my vendors and Merchant was his first holo. After that, Musician, Marksman and Architect was a pretty easy grind. Since then I've gotten him back up in merhcnat and added Master Pistoleer and have been using him to gather resources for the real money makers lately - tissues. Sadly pets and pet stims don't seem to be doing so hot for me on Kauri lately.

What exactly has changed? Are they not aggroing on breaking mask within 40m now or are they not using the aoe bleed on each other?

Yes they no longer agro each other which I consider a good thing actually don't have to go find another spawn while they all kill themselves,

I agree, you can always go back in if something aggros you. Waiting for those mutants to kill each other off took forever. Funny, when TH and I were out getting screenshots for the guide I made a comment about the aoe attack. Wonder of that had anything to do with it.

yea, I haven't seen them turn on each other in the last month or two, now generally what happens is that the closest one comes after you and the others stay put. It's a nice change actually makes sampling much easier. They do however attack other things that you "run them through" like backerasets, which is kinda cool, hehe.
