Does it make sense that CH's can control multiple factional NPCs but squadleaders cant? No. Is it true? Yes.

So you're saying (just so I got this right) that a CH can control multiple faction NPC (ST and rebs NPC) while squad leaders cannot control multiple faction NPCs?
I mean, I would assume that all professions are allowed "x" amount of faction NPC and that their profession should have nothing to do with it. Do all professions get to control more amount of faction NPC then Squad Leaders **or** is it just CH?
The deal is that CH;s are the only profession that can have more than 1 pet out at a time. Faction NPCs are considered 'pets' by the engine so only CH's can have more than 1 out at a time.
It doesn't matter if its creatures, droids,or NPC faction 'pets'. Squad Leaders can only have 1 faction 'pet', Droid Engineers can onlyhave 1 droid out. But a MCH can have 3 of any type of pet out.
The Devs are aware of this and have promised a change. Hopefully it will come with the GCW revamp.
I think the reason BE pets only do kinetic ranged attacks is that to have them do different damage types would mean more data to store per DNA sample and more calculations. IMO they probably felt that the strain on the DB outweights the advantage of having different damage types available.
But thats just my opinion.

It used to be that anyone of any profession could control multiple factional NPCs but it was changed a while back to be CH only. I think around about the same time as the big CH nerf.

That would make sense I guess ![]()
I'll leave the "code" talk stuff to you programmers... I'm pretty proud that I can edit HTML and do hyper links

Most of the CHers I had as customers actually specified 80% of the time they did **not** want ranged... I agree. All the good MCH's I've made pets for specifically say they do not want ranged attacks.
That is **not** to say I did not think Nancy's question was not a good one (whew, tripple negitive).![]()
Just a few things to clear up, firstly TH only got back from vacation today and had only a short amount of time to answer the questions. This is why I was pushing for a short and simple question.
I'm not entirely sure exactly what your problem is with the answer, it tells us exactly what we asked and more. If you remember the question that everyone wanted to ask wwas simply what type of damage to creature ranged attacks do.
I changed the question slightly cos I had a suspision from reading everyone's observations that our pets dont do the same type of damage as wild creatures.
We asked a direct question and got a direct answer.
There was more information that I wanted TH to include but there wasnt time - HOWEVER more information on this issue will be coming next week.
Things I will be trying to get more info on next week:
Why BE pets only do kinetic
The chances of the system being changed to take into consideration the damage type of the donor (or skin)
Clarification on 'creature types'

Awesome! thanks Nancy.

I knew what you were trying to say.

Trying to say that while I agree with a lot of what Meplorium said (in regard to framing questions), I did **not** agree that Nancy worded her question poorly. She simply took the concise route rather then, as Arthur said, the flowery route
Point of clarifacation(sp)

I got ya
Ty Kevm
I had a feeling it had something to do with CHers having the ability to call multiple creatures.

Some people will argue for the former and some for the latter. I guess it really comes down to personal preference and writing/speaking style...
Anyhoo, I seem to recall that once in English class one of my teachers once said not to use double negatives in sentences.... /shrug
