Thread: Should I apply for Correspondent?
Arthur and Blue,
Thank you for the kind words. I did try my hardest to help during the CU.
However, I now realize that really I haven't been here long enough in the community of BE and still am prone to asking/making stupid obvious questions/comments that old-timers would not make. And it would be embarrassing to have such a person as correspondant.
I'm not stupid. I'm learning. Sometimes you have to ask questions when you've exhausted all other avenues and haven't twigged the answer yourself. I'm sorry if that offends people and surely it is tiring for the old-guard to have to keep answering the same questions over and over again. I did think I'd asked all my stupid questions by now but apparently they live long in people's memories.
I understand well enough the 'science' of BE. I happen to have a master's degree in bio-informatics (speciality DNA sequences)and am a developer/programmer dealing with fairly large databases - for some reason I thought that would be enough. I do feel that I have an ability to write clearly but then all of us BE's are a clever well-expressed bunch. You'd not last long if you weren't.
I have withdrawn my application for correspondant and I appreciate your support. Perhaps, sometime in the future, when I have been a BE longer, I will try again but not if it involves politics and people making me feel like a prat.
Enough said on this topic ....
Go Lloyd GO! (er ... and anyone else who is applying)

Dorelli,
Even Arthur did not handle BE alone - he was one of the best correspondents I've seen actually. He was able torely onhelpful people here in this forum for feedback, data collection and solving the mysteries TOGETHER. Do not be discouraged and do not change how you contribute here, we need people like you too. BE is more of a team effort anwyay, at least at the 'understanding' level. It's immensely complex. Keep up the good work.
You are also an asset to all BEs.
This is a great profession community, and I'm glad to see people supporting a BE as corro, not a Doc/CM who only knows the simplicity of meds. (We know meds too, due to Pet stim crafting - so adding the burden to us is not something we are unfamiliar with)
/toast to the whole BEcommunity here and the promise of the future for us.
/prays pet crafting will be fixed this year.
To lloyd
If you have the stomach for it and the time to spend to be a fulltime correspondent do so! You are fully qualified imho, but you are in for quite a ride..You will not only be cor for the old be like me, but also for all the crafting docs..... If you have the energy, patience and drive, then youll have my unquestionable vote ....
regards from someone who dont want the hot seat of BE cor......
The XP is enough to keep me stay as the resources were free anyway
As a result, I shall be staying, and shall be applying for Correspondent.
I think Dorelli did a great job during the CURB...and feel a bit guilty that my end of term uni coincided with the CURB and prevented me from being online much during testing.
If I do receive the correspondent job then the six months time I would hold the position falls during the holidays, and at the beginning of term when things are slow giving me enough time to do my bit for the community.
For those asking if possibly I expect more to be done than is likely to be done, I would say that I am hopeful that all our issues will be addressed, however my course is called Bsc Games Computing (Software Development) so I am more than aware of the issues facing game developers...I plan to be a games programmer in a years time
We definately need a strong voice to keep up the good work Arthur did. BE is borked atm.
I would be happy with either of you. While I have been here a long time (look at the date), I don't like to post unless I have something to say. I come check everyday to see what's up and new.
Though I know that none of you know who I am. I do help where I can. I did apply for the Correspondent position, but I feel bad about it now. I was under the impression most if not all who had been here for awhile and were knowledgable, would not apply. That was the only reason I did so. I thought someone was gonna have to step up. So I did.
I just feel so bad.
I doubt though I'd get it though. But I would recommend either of you in my place. If I can offer any help, I would be more than happy to.

Go for it Lloyd! Love that name.(The Pickering part). I'm going to make my little tailor a BE, so you lead the way. You make reasonable well informed and impassioned arguments. Go go go!
