If your focus is above 1400 you can spam specials all day long, unless somebody/thing else is attacking your mind. D'oh you gotta have focus above 1400 after armor is on.

No that is not a problem, to get the focus that high I will need to get buffed, if I am buffed I can use my armour macro to flip it on and off.

Thank you for the replys everyone I now know that I need to go train a pet doctor....... Don't bite me....... Don't be scared...... Now shoot me up with some buffs...... etc.

Couple things that might help ya.

Might already know this, but if you look at the planetary map, on the right side is a vendor list. If you go to a major planet like Corellia, Naboo, or Tatooine and look for food vendors on the list, you should be able to find some decent ones. I also recommend checking your galaxy's trade forum for updates from your local chefs and if there are none, you can make a post - smart chefs will want to respond in order to gain your business. There are a ton of great foods that are useful to keep in your arsenal. Riflemen's best friends are brandy and canape.

If you have a typical riflemen stat migration - e.g. under 500 HA with 1100 mind, you will have great difficulty spamming specials forever without buffs. On that line, buffs are worth the time and money now days. They've made us incredibly overpowered with up to 90% sliced base effectiveness comp and 2500+ buffs. But, you don't have to go the typical riflemen route. If you are a solely PVE player and want to be able to function without buffs, tone down your stat migration. You can still set your stats at 800/800/800 and still be effective with the new chef foods. The key is hitting 1400 focus, so 2 brandies with at least 300+ (average is 375+ and a good chef can hit 420) and filling of less than 50 will get you firing without loss unarmored. If you are wearing composite, it's harder but still possible. Say you have 500 mind encumb total from your armor, which sets you at 300 focus. Well, 800+ from 2 brandies puts you at 1100 plus 1 canape at 300+ puts you at the mark for firing without cost. Decent canape will have less than 33 filling and will have at least 300+ to focus. If you have higher encumberance or less base focus, you have room for up to 2 more canapes to ensure that you are firing without cost.

Ok I'm a BH almost Master (I need only investigation 4, but i'm not grinding lately) and master pistoleer.

As you can imagine I rely mostly on pistols for what I do, even though I also use carbine to apply states (well, at least try to).

Ok the question is: I hear that most of you prefer using stopping shot. Somebody though said that fan shot is way better... Since I've got bh pistols 4 and master pistoleer i'm speed capped... Now, without talking of the AoE of fan shot, which special is better in a 1 vs 1 fight (not only jedi, i'm talking of normal pvp and even pve against big ugly and scary mobs)?

stopping shot. it has a slightly higher damage modifier vs fanshot.

you'd probably get a lot more feedback about this if you had posted in the pistoleer forums, since your questions have nothing really to do with BH specials.

Stopping Shot: Works, but is inferior to Fan Shot until the player is a Master Pistoleer with a 1.2 speed pistol.

Once you get MBH you can use fastblast to hit all pools and then determine if you should use stopping shot or eye shot. You should also almost always land a torso shot on them for the DOT. The dot is not that overpowering, but it does make some people start to panic.

Snag the smuggler pistol tree and use Last Ditch at the cap. That's the most powerful pistol special in the game as far as damage is concerned.

I was actually thinking of learning four trees of FS skills: ranged accuracy and speed (hoping for a change in the change weapon thing) and ranged and melee defense...

But then I guess I'd better try the smuggler thing before wasting exp on the FS skills right?

Another thing... I've read a thread in here where somebody was saying that health shots 1 and 2 stack once again... I've always used them in combination, but some time ago (months really) I think they fixed the thing so you couldn't stack more than one dot on the same bar (you could stack one bleed and one fire dot on the same bar, say health, but not two bleeds for example)...

Is this still true? Did they fix it again? Or the fixed simply didn't work in the first time (well, knowing SOE this can be true too...)?

Ok i've found out by myself...

The bleeds Do stack once again even on the same pool. I've tried with health1, health2, torso and bleed, and they all stacked.

I, then, tested bleeding shot alone, since last time I used it (many months ago), it was a weak mind bleed... It's still quite weak (not like the old one, but still weak), but now it targets all the pools. I noticed that often on the first hit, the bleed hits two or more pools simultaneously (SP?).

The interesting thing though, is that you can keep shooting it and it will stack with itself, effectively bleeding every pool.

I did notice that after the first shot, each bleed seemed to affect just one pool at a time. So for the first ticks i've got a bleed going on both mind and action, and another one going on just health (this was just after stacking 2 bleedingshots, no other bleeds or dots, not even weapon one, are involved). I've waited for the multiple pool bleed to expire and then fired bleeding shot a couple of times again... I've got then 3 bleeds each onone of the pools, but no more multiple pool bleeds.

The bleed ticks did about 160-200 damage. The bleed was applied with a 274 geo pistol on stun vulnerable mobs. This means that in pvp it will be almost non existant, but I will try that too.

Yeah I know, I posted here since there are many more BH in here than pistoleers in their forums, And i've also got bh pistols, so...

Anyway since i'm speed capped the 1.2 speed pistol doesn't matters anymore, right?

Is sweep really a KD move or is it posture down?

This is an easy one I hope. I'm enjoying being MS again, and I brought carbines along for the ride. Can I use last ditch etc, with a carbine? Or, in your opinion is MS/MP still the 'classic' MS build?
