Thread: Specials Question

Last night, I decided I would like to try for a Dizzy/Knockdown Kwi. I got the DNA of two Alpha Veermoks and three Giant Veermoks. The Alpha Veermoks have the Spec1 Dizzy/Spec2 Knockdown combo. The Giants have a nice HAM/Resists and have Spec1Dizzy/Spec2 Intimitation. I put the Alpha DNA in the Physique and Aggression slots. The Giant DNA went into the rest of the slotsin no particular order since they pretty much were all the same. Now, the DNA that resulted had Dizzy for Special 1 and Dizzy for Special 2. According the the data we have the specials come from the Physique/Aggression slots if they come over at all. But, has anyone seen the Specials crossing over the special numbers like this? I would have expected to just end up with no special 2 if something went wrong. I never expected the special 1's to cross over to the special 2 as well causing a duplicate special. This kinda sounds like a bug of sorts but I am not sure if it is 'as designed'. It seems kind of random and erratic to me. Any ideas?

I had a similar experience and when I looked back at my results I think that the priority given is Quality check first, then slot check, with quality winning over the slot check.

here is what I am referring to on my last test:

Well, this doesn't really answer the question. The samples in the link didn't cross special slots. When I say cross I don't mean move to the final creature. I am talking about something in special 1 slot moving to special 2 slot when NONE of the samples had this particular special in any of the special 2 slots. Perhaps a table will help to illustrate. Here is the configuration of the specials on the samples.

PhysiqueProwessMentalPsycologicalAggression
Creature AlphaGiant GiantGiantAlpha Final
Special 1DizzyDizzyDizzyDizzyDizzy Dizzy
Special 2KnockdownIntim Intim Intim Knockdown Dizzy

This is why I am quite confused about how this could happen. How could Dizzy attach itself to Special 2 when none of the samples have Dizzy in Special 2. My level 10 Kwi came out with two Dizzy specials instead of Dizzy/Knockdown or Dizzy/Intimidate.

Is there a site that tells what specials do what? What ham or status do they affect? Thanks in advance.

I wanted to ask about special attacks. I see plenty of posts talking about spamming specials and how wonderful we can do, what I would like to know do all riflemen run around buffed all the time or am I missing something?

I have looked for the foods mentioned on the forums and so far I have not found a vendor that sells them on my server, should I be trying to get an introduction with a chef to get myself food specially made?

I tend to run around in Composite Armour most of the time and of course that means I have a very low Focus, this means using specials kills me faster than the monsters, what sort of figure have I got to get my focus up to to make specials not kill me in four shots?

I know its a lot of questions but so far I am 4-4-2-3 and I tend to only use the specials when I am trouble as otherwise I have lots of downtime and getting the best out of buffs is not always possible with the amount of time I have to play. I am finding the costs of foods (certainly on my server not sure about others) to high to spend my life with a full belly as I am making a loss on every mission.

Any help would be appreciated.

To answer your question Yes to spam specials all day you must be buffed all the time. If you are not buffed well you see what happens you kill yourself faster then you kill the thing you are shooting.

Okay next silly question then, buffs last something in the region of two hours. If I log out do they stop counting up or do I lose them regardless?

The counter contiues wehter you are there or not, so if you log back on within the 2 hours you *should* still have buffs, (I have not tested this but...). I know for a fact though if you log out with buffs and log in the next day, they are gone, but this is also true of pixie, muon downers and food filling.

I'm sorry, but I find it VERYhard to believe you can't find the foods and drinks to buff. Just go to Coronet starport. On any given night there are usually several people advertising their Vasarian Brandy vendor. Or if you see a Master Smuggler, ask him for muon gold. Go to ANY mall outside coronet and you should find chef vendors. I can usually find anything I need within a matter of minutes.

yep vasarian brandy is a rifleman's best friend! Provided the filling is under 50, you can drink two of these and the HAM costs are much more reasonable. My chef friendmakes me some for about +320-350 mind/focus/willpower, so with two of these that is +640-700 added to all of my mind stats. That should make up for the hit to focusfrom you comp armor.I never have problems finding brandy but like Wayne said CoronetStarport is the best place to find it, especially in bulk.

Yeah mind buffs are the way to go, I never used to use them, but as you get higher in rifelman the higher end mobs look more tempting for higher exp. Being a wookiee I learned to live without armour, even now with my new set of armour I rarely wear it, I have it macroed just incase a rancor decides to play tag with me.

Brandy is fantastic but don't overlook good old Muon Gold, I find I can go through two missions before the downer if I hurry and spend the downer period heading back for more missions.

Try hunting without armour it does make a big difference but if you find you need the armour get some nice brandy or muon or both if you really want a hit

Whether or not you find it hard to believe or not that is my experience. I can find Brandy and Muon Gold but more of the specialist foods, canapes etc I cannot find. But that is neither here nor there, each server seems to differer greatly I have noticed the experience of some players on other servers is very different from my experience.

To get things back to my question, at what point does focus reduce the special shots to nearly nothing? Is >1000 or >2000?

Once again thanks for the feedback.

If your focus is above 1400 you can spam specials all day long, unless somebody/thing else is attacking your mind. D'oh you gotta have focus above 1400 after armor is on.
