Thread: WE HATE THE NEW CHANGES!! TAKEN FROM THE CH FORUMS
This goes back to the old argument of 'why are novice marksman weapons such as the scout blaster superior to pistoleer weapons?' type of thing. But I have some understanding of the situation now.

I have gone out and done the CH thing ( I am a master ch also ) So far I see ZERO pets in the wild that have anything near the same stats as the level 10 and under pets that the NON-CH people are boasting. My Rancors are worthless. My Maulers are worthless. Yes I have gone out and spent 2 days for 5 hours grueling away at the lairs trying to find *the ch way* for these new and useful babys... NOTHING... I refuse to take the easy way out and pay my 100k for a BioEng freakin monstrosity. Parden my harshness and my utter distastefulness andlack of compassionfor the whole situation. I am trying to find the logic. We Ch's are scrambling around for the perfect pet.scpecially as a master Ch i find it horrible that we cannot get anything near the perfection that can be reached with whatthese BioEng can makeand used by NON CH'Sand can be in my opinionfar far better than what we can findout in the wilds the old fashioned way. Where is the balance? Sorry but, yes, I believe this is unbalanced and needs to be delt with some way. =(
Maybe the Devs are taking the same approach as they do with weapons?
Anything found in the wild (aka looted) is inferior to player-made. Mind you, this is coming from a pistoleer who can't just run around for a few days killing stuff until heloots his uber weapon. I have to go to a weaponsmith to get the best in the game. I guess CHs will have to go to BEs to get the best in the game now also.

im training to be a BE myself . but the master BE's i spoke to are setting a bad example , im not saying all BE's but 90% off the masters i spoke to are either a) not intrested in making me a tailor made pet or discussing/advising me on a pet b) want silly amount of money for any of these pets.
It's not strange BE pets cost a fair bit. I spent about 10 hours looking for and sampling critters with a BE guildy, and I even have track to make it easier. In the end we collected enough DNA for 4-5 pets in those 10 hours. And that was JUST one planet. Then you can repeat the some collecting missions on 5 other planets (queue traveling costs) and then go back figure out what combinations are good, and make them. Next the demand is currently sky-high.
Add all this up and yes, you pay up to 100k for a kickass pet. Not that strange IMHO
This is turning into something like this... These CH's are going to have to kiss the feet of the master BE's and get as far as how hard as they can suck on thier toes can give them...So now its the BE's that have to go out and do the finding of the real good pets - Dna wise - and provide them to the paying and begging CH's and no one will want to really be a CH anyway sence the pets are so **edit** fantastic that you most likely wouldnt need anything over level 10 if you and 3 of your buddys are going to do missions with these fabulous creatures provided you sucked on thier toes long enough I would assume. I do hope the Dev's get some sorta a hint.
First, I will be truly truly impressed if the full grown adult is CL1 with 60% resist and 2K ham. Most like its a 10K ham creature that's newly tamed that is surely not a CL1 pet.
Second, as I understand it, if you take a CL1 baby version of say a CL50 pet, then the xp calculations will treat it as no less than 50% of the full grown size i.e. CL25.
While on the surface, it looked uber i.e. a CL1 2K ham 60% resist, I think the facts are distorted out of order.
I wonder if we can hope for a mass firing of the current devs, and hiring of different ones.
Worked for asheron's call. lol
Incoming 2 cents from a beta-tester BE (well when they finally decided to give us a trainer), currently Master CH and Novice BE.
I did not read Holo's posts regarding bringing out camps to call pets, odds are he gave some history in there (he is great at bringing up past arguements :smileyvery-happy
. But many of you CHs, and BEs also perhaps, might remember the the whole arguement regarding the vision of CHs way back when. Holo and Q where both not pleased that CH pets were being considered as weapons. Several times it was stated that the CH class was not meant to be a combat class on its own, it was more of a social class. If a CH wanted to be a combat class, then they should take up a second skill-set (pistoleer, rifleman, etc.). The pets should be played with, cared for, and at a later date, traded to others so they could do the same. They would be loyal companions and fight if you got in a fight, but they should not be used as a weapon/tank.
Of course these arguements became pretty heated, and in the end everyone left feeling like nothing got accomplished (at least in my eyes). Then the patch that started it all came, when non-CH could have pets (besides factional ones). This patch also re-organized the level of pets a CH could call out. So now non-CHs had pets, saw that they could be used as a weapon/tank, and began putting points into CH to get a better tank. Thus the dabbler was born...
Soon Commandos everywhere had a Graul Mauler out, and the galaxies were flooded with people who simply took up a couple levels of CH to have a tank pet. This was totally against the vision of CH from the Devs, and something needed to be done ASAP. Of course during this entire time BEs were still being ignored, but at least they were given trainers finally (/sarcasm). The fact that BEs were supposed to create pets that were at least as good, if not better, than their wild counterparts was completely ignored while the game dealt with the CH pet problem. In hindsight, it was a very good thing that BEs were not able to create the pets they are now before this latest patch to pets. Just think of how out of balance the CH dabblers would have been if they got their hands on pre-patch BE'd Graul Maulers or such...
So now, BEs finally got a patch that lets them do what was stated so very long ago, to create superior pets. And dabblers are no longer able to run around with their Graul Maulers and inbalance the game. And CHs no longer have pets that can be used as tanks/weapons (or at least not as much as before). But like all patches, new problems arose. Did the CH get hit too hard? Are BEs now able to create too powerful of pets? Did all this patch do is make the dabbler swap from getting a CH's Graul Mauler to getting a BE's creation? Are the new creations going to actually make it easier for dabblers to inbalance the game, since they do not have to go up the CH lineas high in order to get the tank they want?
Those are questions that really need to be looked at. Not to nerf anyone, but so that the Dev team can learn and see how one "tweak" to a class impacts many other classes.
Okay, stepping off my soapbox now. Thank you to those that read this rambling post. And in regards to the original post, I do not think that person is a "retard" as others have called him/her. People are used to a system set one way, and that is why they continue to play. To have this massive of changes happen all at once is a very hard thing to deal with, and class envy/anger is going to happen.
I find it odd that creature handlers are bashing bio-engineersto be honest.
Prior to this patch creature handlers could tame all the good animals from the wild just by saying a few "don't bite me's" and "good er...boy?" then end up with a very nice free"weapon" while bio-engineers made gimped animals a quarter ofthem being furniture. Creature handlers pretty much owned the mount market. The only real use a creature handler had for a bio-engineer was pet meds and yet you never saw the mass majority ofcreature handlers up in arms saying, "those poor bio-engineers got the short end again" as each new patch rolled out. Now that bio-engineering actually means something and creature handlers can actually use us to provide a useful product they are majorly peeved about it.
Why shouldn't bio-engineers make the best animals? Consider exactly what it is we're doing here. We take wild DNA from various animals, combine it with a bit of voodoo, and out pops a monstrosity that can never be found in the wild. Personally I don't see why that's something to be ashamed of.
I think the creature handlers that are ranting in this manner should be ashamed of themselves.
I like the new changes to BE, after all, you guys take the best qualities from several creatures and combine them to form 1 awesome creature. Common sense would tell ya then that a BE pet is far superior to one in the wild.
I think some of the CH's don't understand the difficulty in creating some of these pets either. You have to fly to dangerous planets, sample DNA by hand, etc.......Its not like you could just slap down a harvestor on this stuff.
I'm really interested in seeing some of the kitty's you guys will be making. A BE pet is going to bethe "krayt" tissue weapon of CH's.
Don't feel concerned look at this part of the original post which shows that this person has utterly ZERO understanding of what they are saying:
"What does that mean? It means that somebody is out there with a level one pet that can rake in the CH XP (being only level one of course), has better resists than any wild pet I've encountered post-patch and can be used by a non-CH if they so desired it. Given that it only has 2k of HAM so it's not competing with the high HAM tanks, but it's better than *anything* for its level."
Now every bio-engineer here knows that you cannot get kinetics that high for a low level critter without having massive weaknesses to the animal. For starters as they point out we can make a 2000 HAM pet with 60% kinetic resistance. Now while that might help them last a while against something which is double their CL rating it means that if you it in PvP then it'd die in next to no time. If you use it against a humanoid mob then they'll whip out their blasters and it'd be dead very quickly unless the humanoid mob went into melee mode. The fact is that you now have specialized pets, they are very good at certain things but totally sand utterly worthless for anything else.
That is call balance.
So to rip through this persons statements, it does NOT have better resists than anything post-patch and it is NOT better than anything else for it's level. Wake up and smell the new CL rules folks.
