I guess I'm not you average BE then.

I have MBE, a box in TK to help with harvesting, the prerequsite exploration IV and a little medic for applying stims. The rest is in dancer (Approaching dance 3, I'm going to take it up to dance IV and drop a little more from Medic).

I think Nancy is MBE / Musician / Merchant. Just depends on your personal tastes and whether or not you have an alt.

Forgive the troll, but I disagree. My main being total combat (and Master Pistoleer) I would suggest pistols 0/0/4/0. This tree gives the most useful pistoleer defenses, and the more effective specials. However if you are going to go TKA anyway, I personally feel that it would be a much more effective template to ignore pistols and go 4/0/4/0 TKA. Giving you the meditative abilities and some fair offensive techniques.

Speed is the most important factor to get imo and the fact that it is combined with the melee defence tree is an excellent bonus. In a fight, a pistoleer with 0004 would easily beat a 0040 pistoleer imo and also would stand a better chance of survival in the wild - especially as accuracy for a novice pistoleer being so low, you would need speed to compensate. But hey, that's just my $0.02. I've only dabbled in pistoleer myself, never mastered.
