Thread: Pet Special Attacks

Here is what you need to know...
Specials do work if you make a macro with follow target and then special attack.
You can tell they work because when your pet makes an attack the name of the attack will flash over his head... Also if it lands it will show up on the target (I hope you all know this stuff by now).
A few moves don't show up... such as open wounds, but enough do that I can tell my commands are working just fine.
this is on the money. I tweaked my macros to "/tellpet chase; /tellpet special1" and the pet attempts a special every time. Keep in mind that special attempts aren't always sucessful.
I noticed that sometimes when I spam the special attack command my pet will attempt it.... but I'm not sure if it is consistant enough to say that it works or if he is just doing it randomly and I happen to be spamming at the same time
/tellpet special1;
and that worked like a charm too, in case anybody was wondering.
However, while my pets will now execute fairly simple stuff like dizzy/stun/etc, I have not been able to get one to poison or disease on command. I imagine this is intentional, (0 HAM cost poison on-demand would be pretty unbalanced) but thought I should check and see if anyone has gotten it to work.
Happy hunting!

i think they mean the /tellpet followother command... in other words you'd highlight a mob and
/tellpet followmytarget
/tellpet specialattack1
/tellpet seems to be workin sporadically at best for me over the last week or so. I've been using macro'd /tellpet attack commands for my critters for months, and in some circumstances they simply stop working for no particular reason. I've never used single letter commands such as a or k for the attack command, either. I do use two word commands: attack one, attack two, and attack three so I can direct particular pets in combos to attack specific targets or to hold them in reserve if something unanticipated should come up.
I've had good luck with the special commands, but you don't see them in the combat spam logs, only visually in the environment, so you have to be paying attention after you issue them. The ranged attacks, on the other hand, appear to be completely broken...I've never been able to get a critter to use the ranged attack on command from me, only randomly on their own initiative.

That is the scheme that makes the most sense, but for others that do not have the "follow my target" command, using:
/tellpet followme
/tellpet specialattack1
works for me, at least. The "follow me" command will not cause your creature to come back to you, it serves only to clear their queue so that the special attack will go through. Using this macro, my pet seems to attempt the easier specials (dizzy/stun/etc) the first time they attack every time I hit the button. They are not guaranteed to actually *hit*, so if the effect doesn't work, I hit the button again after 2 seconds or so (creatures usually have an attack speed of 3 I believe).
I also would suggest trying out a dizzy or stun special first while you are testing things, to make sure that the macro is indeed working. I have yet to get a poison or disease on command (again probably intentional).
I think most people agree that this is a bug. I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything from the Devs on it.
