Thread: When damaged lowered by 66%, HAM can increase by 300%.. that doesn't sound fair
I actually think your examples (in the"perfect 10" thread) are where we should be able to make sub10's, especially if it takes a bit of effort to actually do. Anything lower and about the only thing they are good for is house pets and people hunting Dwarf Nuna or Rills.
I actually sold a1.5k Health pet with 20% kin for 15k the other day.It was probably a decent post-fix pet, I felt like I was ripping the guy off, so I threw in some Pet Stims. While I feel 9% kin is a bit low (only by a tad though), at least I'd feel like I was selling someone a solid pet if it has around 3-4k health. Any lower and I have trouble actually selling the things to people (in a "good faith" way, not a "no one will buy them" way) cause I've actually been there, done that and know once they leave Tatooine the pet will be next toworthless.
But the main reason I said "Great, here we go again" is I'm kinda sick of the whole "Fix us/Nerf us" Vs the "**edit**, it's fine" arguing that flooded these pages for 2-3 weeks and feelthat some people might use this to start the whole thing off again ![]()
I notice your on Ahazi, is there a good Tailor you can recommend?

I stand corrected, my calculations were off by quite a bit!
Although your calcs were off (I NEVER make mistakes
) I don't want people to lose sight of something you said earlier. There is a combat system revamp coming, and the creature/CH/BE changes were made with those in mind.
In addition there is a DE overhaul coming, so what they did also has to jive with that.
I don't think Tal'scritters are that far off. You still aren't going to get any PvP mileage out of them.
Patience.
Oh and Thanks Tal!

This seems perfectly balanced to me. Let's say you have a CL 10 pet that has 1500 HAM and hits for 100. Let's say this pet is an almost perfect match for a particular NPC creature wherethe petwill win most of the time with a little of its' HAM left. This means that the pet's HAM+ its dmg output allows it to solo this creature.
Now, if you decreasethe pet'sdmg by 66%, you've cut its'dps to 1/3rd of what it used to be. This means it will now take this pet 3 times as long to kill the same NPC. If this pet is to stay an even match for the NPC, it will need to last 3 times as long. This can be accomplished by tripling it's HAM, or increasing it's resistances to mitigate the attacker's DPS by 66%. It appears that the devs choseto balance HAM vs dps.
It seems that (dps * HAM) = X, where X is a constant. If dps dropsby1/2, HAM can go up 2x to balance the loss of damage. If this is indeed the case... get cracking and make me a 100k HAM pet with 1 dps. ![]()
A dalyrake harvester at 3k with resist kinetic could block for me, but not for long against what I was hunting. Not even calling it out, I could kill much the same, pulling it out made it slightly safer, more irritating, and not a lick faster, by and large.
Using something like a cowardly gurreck pointed out, painfully, that HAM by itself did you no good (against most useful targets, its health would be eaten tremendously quickly, compared to, say, a mountain krevol with 2k health but that so-useful armor to magnify how long the health lasted.
So, a CL 10 pet by itself, with no damage output and nothing significant in the way of resists but having a couple thousand health, doesn't seem like such a big deal to me.
Professions experienced in the above example: TK, Commando, marskman, pistoleer.
I agree.
I think a lot of BE's have tickets on themselves and think the creatures they make are "godlike", when in reality, they are only marginally better than "wild"...

From my experience in combat professions, non-CH pets (even before the nerf) weren't really worth using without significant resists (or armor) even if they HAD 3k health.
