Before people get too excited about this though, I'm not sure how useful this is going to be for us. I don't know what the final implementation of this was, but I know that the intent was for the "recycled" product to come out with fairly low stats. You're likely not going to be able to, say, distill 2 high quality stack of fish into one high quality stack of fish for example. I think this is going to be of more use for professions where stats don't matter than for us.
I don't care about the quality of the fish... with ANY kind of fish, my Stim-Ds are better than I can usually do with Stim-Cs, which are marginally better than Stim-Bs.
And as far as excited... hell, man, this is proof that maybe, just MAYBE, the Dev teams are listening to the forums and/or playing and having the same thoughts we all are having. As a step forward, this is very important in showing that some new systems and concepts are breaking through and that not all work has been piled on the combagravalance. Also, I should mention that as far as pets go, stats really don't matter. There is no quality bar at all; I can save my high quality meat stacks and use all of the leftovers and turnings from other endeavors.
Maybe once we get through the pile of cheap batteries, streetlights, radios, and decorative droid bodies, and find some of the components for these recyclers, we'll know for sure just how helpful this will be. But no matter what, it is a move up and will be helpful. This is some pretty spiffy crafter love they are showing us, even if we don't technically fall under "crafter". (At least, in my eyes, since we are so far removed from the "artisan" trades.)
