If you want realism you're looking at the wrong game. For the sake of discussion I'll look past that. If we use your analogy a MCH/MBE knows a heck of a lot about animals, as far as knowledge goes. That doesn't mean the MCH/MBE would be able to handle a high end pet like CL80
The MCH/MRifles or Pistols on the other hand would have weapons skills necessary to intimidate the pet in the event the pet decided to take matters into its own hands, or paws if you will.
CL in this game was POORLY implemented. Regardless, I doubt very strongly this is going to change, at least not in the near term. You can rationalize it. You can analize it. In the end, you either accept the mechanics or you move on to a different game. The developers do not have a very good track record of listening to the players.
I am a Wookiee. I am very big, very tall, and very hairy. I can let out a Wookiee roar that will make a puny rodian pistoleer pee in his pants. And he is going to "intimidate" a creature more than I with his little pistol?
Ok, so you make a point about realism. Taming is based on certain numbers. I eat my Crunchies and get about +17 taming bonus. I put on my +25 taming wild and vicious WookieeSages Hood and get a bonus. If I also wear my taming Shoulder Pads, I get no additional bonus, so I know better than to expect realism. I get +10 taming bonus for being a Wookiee. I don't expect a lot of realism, but I would like some fairness: I'm better at taming a CL 70 creature than a non-WookieeMCH/MP -- on average, it takes fewer attempts for me to tame one because of my Wookiee bonus. But, he can tame a CL 80, and I can't? That certainly does not make sense. I'm better at taming CL 60s, and 65s, and 70s, but not 80s? I have to put up withsignificant disadvantages for being a Wookiee. One reason I have stayed a Wookiee is for the taming bonus. Is it fair to negate this one advantage to being a Wookiee by allowing the rodian pistoleer to have a taming advantage over me?
Now, let's look at all the weapons and other items obtainable on Mustafar that only require you to be a master of your profession to use. You only need Master Chef touse something. You only need to be Master Carbineer touse something. If you are MasterCH and Master Carboneer, you can use two things - a new weapon and a new necklace. If you are MCH and MBE, you get nothing. Is that fair? Just being Master Carbineer and nothing else gets you one thing, but being MCH and MBE gets you nothing.
