I couldn't have said it better myself.

Perhaps if you are going to float your egocentric opinion of what I said, you should first take a bit of time to do some research on the person you are trying to insult. I do not know of any bugged DNA except for Nocous Kam, which I avoided like the plague. I never made any uber powerful level 10 pets either.
I used the profession as it was designed. I made each of my own creatures via my own template and my own ideas. The only time I took advice from the boards what on what NOT to use that was bugged...
Today I cant call 3/4 of my pets. That is NOT my fault. I didnt do something wrong. I used the system as it was designed, steering clear of known issues. Instead of SOE coming up with a fix that works, they instead do what they always do... shoot from the hip with a half-assed attempt at a fix.
When they do that they damage legitimate players... and a lot of them. Sure they capture the bad ones as well but isnt the saying "Id rather let 50 guilty people go then imprision 1 innocent one..." I cant remember if that was Washington or Lincoln that said that.
They just recently banned 50 people for exploiting a bug where you could slice weapons or armor over and over again... Yet, was there a patch that went out and found all the weapons that where too good and made them unusable? Is there a patch where armor that is just a bit too high of quality be un-equippable? No they didnt. They decided not to because they dont want to.
They do not respect us as a player base. They have pushed out "fixes" time and time again that do more harm then good. They half-assed exploits and damage people in the process.
Personally Im glad that people making the crazy under level 10 pets are done. I dont think that was ever right. But I am not spending hours on end making reperations to my customers because of a dumb ass developer choice. So either my customers are out thousands of credits they worked for, or Im out hours and hours on end of work for nothing because of SOE... either way someone lost a ton of game time on the whim of a developer... now explain to me how that is respect.
This time, know who you are responding to before you spout off like a fool and look like a chump.

Yeah, I dropped this to go pikeman, next is carbineer...hell, at least they don't get bent over one knee and screwed like we did
you guys were gimpy before you got love, gurrek's were disposable pets for me because my maulers were better.... no non-ch wanted a BE pet they wanted a rock b eetle or if they were an idiot a cowardly gurrek.
they gave you a boost, there was a bug in the boost (as ususal) and they fixed it.
geesh you guys go from rags to riches and suddenly your expectations are higher than anyone else in the game.
I have 3 callable 23 pets with light armor.... that is GOOD, very very good, and took a bio a long time to make. You guys still have the stuff, you just cant make overpowering pets now.

So you are moving to that profession that the developers actually respect and don't give bugs and hotfixes to? Which profession was that again?
Pikeman hasn't received a bug or hot fix really yet.....so if you can deal with the fact they were prety much broken to begin with and have more or less been ignored since then.

As both the BE system for creating pets and the whole CL calculation are undocumented, I'd have to say holding Bio-Engineers responsible for non-exploited pets is foolishness. I know it is easier to hold the Bio-Engineer who made it responsible instead of holding SOE, the real culprit, responsible, but please understand where the blame lies:
Poorly documented systems, lack of quality QA, less-than-professional Customer Service and all around poor development by SOE. Go call a CSR for your invalid pet, they actually get paid WHEREAS I'M JUST TRYING TO HAVE FUN PLAYING A GAME!
No sorry.
The only thing that we SHOULD get is a stable system wherewe don't have to self police based on hearsay, player opinion of "whats right", common senseand conjecture. I refuse to let things like "common sense" set the boundries. Common sense, at one time or another, has said you can't fly, the world is flat and man will never walk on the moon...
I want to make the best pets possible and to do that you have to push the envelope. To push the envelope, you actually needboundries. For legal boundries, you need someone to set rules. The ONLY people that can set meaningfulrules in the games systems are the developers.
Common sense has it's place, but that place isn't in exploringor pushing boundries...

The same common sense could be used to determine if a pet is somewhat valid no matter what CL they are. If your clone has the stats of a wild creature vastly higher CL, then it just makes sense that something isnt right here.
The only thing that we SHOULD get from the developers is rough guidelines as to what is acceptable .. i.e. for clones cl 11-20 resistances shouldnt get above 25%, no armor and total ham 3k-15k.. something along those lines. Room for us to play around with, but guidelines to know how far to push.

Prior to the CH/BE patch, the best pets in the game, if you wanted to use a single pet, were Rancors made by MBEs. Contrary to popular opinion, BEs were quite useful to CHs back then.

After the patch, BEs still make the best pets if you use just one pet. This didn't changed a bit after the hotfix.

I have a better idea. How bout the developers make it so you CAN'T make a pet outside the acceptable range. Then they won't have to create any documentation telling you what is and is not acceptable.

Clearly, the way it should be is that any pet a BE can make should be valid. The devs need to come up with a good way to calculate CL and show CL on the DNA template as we are experimenting.
Actually, what we be so bad about just getting rid of the Hardiness, Fortitude, etc, and just show on the DNA template, as you are experimenting, CL, HAM, Damage, To Hit, Attack Speed, Special Protections (labelled as such), Effectiveness (one number), Armor, Vulnerabilites, Specials, Ranged, etc.? We would have control ofmany of these attributes directly and see how an experiment point into each attribute affects that attribute as well as CL. Put points into Effectiveness until, hopefully, you get Armor (at Effectiveness = 50%).
