I know that, but people are freaking out about this CU change. I'm just saying a correspondent should step up and lead its community and at least say / voice his opinions about what people are worried about. I did see the chef correspondent say something pretty good here on the BE forums about times of change bring panic etc etc. I tend to think along the same lines where people are starting to get worried about their professions.

But as far as letting a HUGE community know whats going on I honestly think the devs are failing really bad at this. I know things change and what not, but leaking a little info here and there to yet have it all change isn'ta good idea either. Post the documents as they change would be best idea. At least that way people know what is on the table at all times and can wait an see instead of the whole unknowing a thing about what is going on.

just my 2 cents worth. I really think chefs are going to start disappearing accross all servers farely fast. And for BE I really honestly hope the new expansion brings us some good stuff. I also hope the CU brings us some good pets back. I'm starting to see lots of positive ideas, but the chefs are pretty worried right now, which will effect us BE's. Anyone else have some opinions about this?

Bline,

I'm really truly not allowed to do that. The best that I can do is to steer you guys in the direction of information as soon as it is released, help facilitate discussion on it, and compile feedback that you guys give me. As far as my own opinions on this stuff, rest assured that this stuff is important to me, and it is important to me that bio-engineers come out of this thing intact, so I am very vocal in the places I need to be vocal, but all I can do here in this forum is discuss what has been made public. And as far as what has been made public, well, there isn't much info right? And believe me, I have been vocal in bemoaning that fact as well.

If it makes you feel any better, so far I think we are looking pretty good overall, but there are still tons and tons of unknowns (to me).

As far as what other correspondents are doing, well, that's up to them. In some cases, some professions have more they can discuss because more info on them has been released publicly, but that is not the case for us. Personally, I don't believe me posting a lot of wild speculation, just in hopes of it preventing panic, is an appropriate thing for me to do. But then again, I see no reason for bio-engineers to panic.

I appreciate your feed back and comments. I still don't agree with what the devs feed us. Personally I think they could take a better approach to give paying customers information on the game they pay to play. Then again that is SOE making these strict rules not any of you! I work in the medical field and I'll tell you what our customers are our number 1 asset! Without making them number one this company would fold fairily fast let alone any company in this field. I know this is completely different area, but making the customer #1 should be the most important thing to a monthly paying subscriber.

Maybe people are taking this the wrong way on how the dev's are adjustting stuff. Maybe they give a little info on what they changed get the feed back from the players and then adjust to make it more balanced. I don't know what goes on behind the sceens, but all we, the players, can do is voice our opinions on what LITTLE we know. With that said this is going to continue until they make announcements about what is going on with each profession. Take a scroll through all the boards once. Every single forum is in lost opinions on whats going on. Now is that giving a paying customer the information they deserve? I have to think NOT!

The Devs, CU testers, and correspondents know what is going on which is maybe .1% of the paying customers. Now what kind of communication system is that? I know there is nothing the CU testers and correspodents can do, but all i'm doing in pointing out how lame we get the information. Being in the position of a correspondent / cu testers hopefully you pass this type of information on to a higher up.

Now I try put myself as an SOE employee. Say I'm working on X profession and I take 30mins to read the player forums and see how many people are so clueless to the up coming changes. Do I sit there and say oh well they will find out once X manager puts the new information out. I personally would walk to my managers cube / office and voice my opinion. I would go to the daily meetings and again voice my opinion.

Being an SOE employee working on this game I would feel the paying players are paying my paycheck. They should come #1 at any costs. This is just how I feel and I know others will debat this for every, but I'm voicing my opinion here because I feel I like the BE forums and think both the BE / Chef correspondents are doing an awesome job of saying what they can.

/sorry for the rant

arthur,

As I stated above I'm just trying to give you, the devs, and the cu testers a feeling form a paying customer. I sometimes feel so left out in the dark about a huge change to the game. I just wonder what SOE thinks they are doing not telling customers whats going on.

All of my vendors are still selling at the same rate and in some cases a increased rate. i Have chef vendors armorsmith vendors bio tissue/pets/additive vendors and tailor vendors. I cant keep sets of comp armor on my vendors.

After the cu if they dont give non combatents armor then i will cease making pets as My Master Bio enginner/Master Armorsmith has absolutely no combat ability and according to the update notes will have no ability at all to wear armor. I get killed by the mutant rancor enough with armor. I coulndt even think of going to dathomir without armor.

/sarcasm on I love the CU and think its the best thing since sliced bread

What I have seen in the CU notes has me worried. I play five toons, one of them a BE. All of them have templates I love to play. As it looks now, I will probably cancel at least 2 of them, because they are no longer viable.

I think SOE are not taking human psychology into account. We like stability, we hate change. Change in too large a dosis causes people to freak out. At this point in the game, most of us have a very strong tie to our toons, a strong vested interest. No one would object to the SKILLS being balanced, but this is taking it much, much further.

Broom,

As I stated in above post SOE is taking the worst approach to this CU. I don't know about others, but if were paying there paychecks wouldn't you put the customers first and let them know what the future of the product is? What they are doing is taking CU testers, correspondents, and devs and letting them all know whats going on.

To me #1 rule is customer is always first! I know they are listening to us and trying to tmake this game better, but holding out info like this is BAD!

I admit I'm new, but I have had a bunch of tissue orders lately. I can't keep the MBE tag above my head for fear of gettingmore orders that I won't be able to fill in a timely manner. So far it hasn't hurt me a bit.

First in answer to the initial post, for the first time in a long time some fair Dathomir Carnivore meat spawned on Gorath. I got as much as I could and stocked my vendor with chef tissues. When the CU comes, I'll deal with those issues then, but in the meantime, I plan to keep playing the game.

Secondly, I am VERY glad to see public announcements about some of the ideas for changes that will come with the CU. That doesn't mean that I am happy with all the changes. But I think public disclosure as early as possible is a good way to PREVENT mass hysteria. Of course people will be shocked, but better to be shocked far in advance, get a chance to cool down and think about it before it happens, than to suddenly free up all the skill points in anticipation of issues that never turn out to be the case.

Thirdly, one of the mainpurposes of the CU is to turn nonviable professions into viable ones. The ultimate goal is for all the professions to be viable, useful, and attractive to a large number of players. Based on the CU information released to the public, one might believe that only professions coming from the marksman and brawler trees will be useful afterwards, but in the past it has always been the case that those who have received direct attention get a benefit as a result--but then other professions get their attention and their benefit as well. Again, the goal is to make ALL professions fun to play and useful to the game as a whole. This being the case, I would be careful about making any rash decisions at this time in anticipation of a nerf. Many apparent nerfs are likely to be repaired before the CU goes live.

Finally, it is well-known that all professions are represented in the CU alpha team. Each team is composed of players with a special interest in keeping their professions from serious harm. The teams are comprised of people who were chosen because they have expressed their opinions on the forums. You can be sure they will be no less vocal in the case of any changethat even vaguely resembles a nerf to their own profession--long before that change is released.

My best advice is not to panic, continue playing until things look more firm. Don't sell at a loss, and weather the temporary market caution. Some chefs may be cautious about making more foods, but people are still hunting, adventuring, and fighting, and therefore consuming them. When people need more, they will buy more. When demand is high and stocks are low, even cautious chefs will resume production and need tissues.

Very good point Hylindex, but on my server tarq some of the big guys are already saying there done with making stuff tell the CU. Another chef said he's going to be careful making stuff so he doesn't get stuck with large quantities fo worthless product.

You make a good point about every profession having a team supporting that prof. That is a very relaxing feeling ina way, but remember there is 4-5 of them and the whole community is 99% of the professions. So will there 1% will express what the 99% feels? This is just plan math here that says they won't hit on every topic but will hopefully focus on the main concerns.

What I do see happening though is once this his test center everyone i nthe world will be trying to get on there and test it out. Ok now what will happen? hehe well we are down to 5 -6 weeks until the spieculated release. Players will flood the forums with there results of testing the various professions and give there feedback.

Now you tell me with 5-6 weeks left and no beta testing going on with mass number of players testing this do you honestly think the devs will fix issues brought up to them from the real player base? The 99% of the people playing the profs? I can't beleave they will be able to change much before release, but what I do thinkt hey can do is tally up the issues and do updates. That is the glory of an online game. The last comment I'd like to make is the other problem is not everyone will wanna play test center so in all SOE will not get a huge number of testers tell live. All this testing is math based and it will prove itself out once this happens.

Honestly I don't know why I'm getting so into this subject, but I'm just concern for the game and the new profession I picked up BE. I just think CU beta testing should have at least 4-6 weeks of testing and were about to get to the 5 week more soon. So with 5 testers from each prof in alpha is that sufficient testing?

I'm not saying anything bad to any of the testers or correspondents, but I'm just putting out numbers here and thats what really tests something to the fullest.

Farstar Trade forum is being flooded with old res spawns, 12pt suits and prime location real estate. I think a lot of crafters see this as their 'get out of jail free' card. I think after the CU, a lot of people are going to be wanting to try it out and start playing combat again so we could see an INCREASE in prices (supply drops, demand rises). I always say follow your gut feeling. If you want to get out then do it. If you want to stop producing then do it. Make a decision and stick with it - else you'll be kicking yourself later.
