Thread: Penuts for gold dust = 1000c for Mount
I've never agreed with trying to pre-empt the market, for example people who were buying Banthas for mounts last month are now forced to buy kaadu or Carrion spat this month. Assuming that what the devs say is true that we'll have the new cloning system in the November patch then I can see many of the people returning AGAIN to actually buy a mount they want which is modified and lowered to CL10. There's something just not right about playing on people's ignorance, infact only today someone in Ahazi's Coronet was selling Cu-Pa for 25k claiming that they are rumored to be mounts in the next patch. I warned him (thinking he was simply misinformed) that not only is the Cu-pA too high a CL rating for the new patch but it's also definently NOT a mount in the first patch.
He then said something along the lines of 'if i dont see it myself I'm not gonna beleive it' and then continued shouting the sales ramble. I said well wouldn't it be better to get your facts right before you risk ripping people off at which point he got abusive. Needless to say there is a certain mentality and lack of any morals needed to feel happy with selling to the ignorant under false pretenses.
My personal take is that people are free to decide what price tag they want to stick on one thing or another.. if someone feels they its worth it to grind out Spats and Kahduus for 2-3k each.. oh well, thats thier choice. I've never, in the time that i've been a BE with a shop, had any problems selling goods, my problem has always been keeping stocked.
For what its worth, im selling mount pets for 15k each with the added offer that if they return it when its grown ill tame the mount command as part of the price. So far i've always charges 10k for combat quality Non-ch creatures.. any lower that that and I dont feel its worth my time.
Added to that, its hard to just quoate a price for any given product in a game like this since theres so many variables to consider: the quality of the pet, the level of skill required, supply vs. demand, the level of service your offering and plain simply how much your willing to sell the time you invest for.
If i end up finding that im not selling any mount pets due to others selling them for a couple of k's.. fair enough.. i'll just spend that time working on more stims and tissue
Before everyone gets into a tizzy about the quality of mounts and the pricing thereof, consider that there's a very, very good chance that mounts in SWG will end up working a lot like mounts in EQ - namely, that they'll be unstatted, untargetable blobs of neat-looking graphics that appear under your butt and sometimes make you move faster.
Let me repeat this: UNSTATTED, UNTARGETABLE. They will most likely not have levels, they will most likely not have HAM, they will most likely not be able to participate in combat and will probablydo no damage even if they could.
All of this is supposition on my part, yes. I could be wrong, yes. But it's been stated by Thunderheart that everyone will be able to use any mount, which leads me to think that they will be an entirely new category of item which is neither pet nor inventory object, and one which will have no function at all except to allow people to get from point A to point B faster, and in style.
My understanding of whats on Test is that mounts can be targetted AND killed.
But perhaps that will change.
I'd probably pay 2k apiece for spats, but not more than that. That's just because I can run out into the plains on Corellia and grab a dozen in about an hour or 90 minutes, that includes giant spats.
Then again, I probably won't bother selling mounts unless there is a crapload of easy money in it, so...
Way I see it getting to novice BE takes less than 10,000C and a couple hours, you can't charge too much for newbie level clones because they're easy to make. 1k a clone, woudln't bug me if they wanted to pay that much. Hell I usually give newbie trash like that away.
