I really haven't had problems switching targets. I have spent some quality time "gurking" to grind xp to learn abilities, and the pets seem to do what I tell them to do. {shocking, isn't it lol} If they feel like being stupid, a second press on the attack that / come here button seems to do the trick. If you send them after a lair and then send them aftera mob, they do like to go back to the lair after the mob is dead. /shurg. Telling them to come a few more times does the trick. Same as my rl dog: he doesn't listen to me either! lol

Here's an interesting thought. Maybe it's the user end that's different in this case, rather than the game end. I mean I live 24/7 with a husband and kids who never listen to me and certainly don't do as they are told the first time - could it be simply that I'm just trained to think that any response at all is good?

Cin - that is really troubling about your pet not getting xp ... Snuggles doesn't update in pet xp when I am looking at him on the datapad but if i move off him and back it updates but I know you and when you mean NO xp you really do mean NO xp.

I made a Dewback for a guildmate yesterday. I tamed the deed and gave the pet a few commands (only a few boxes into CH) and then traded the pet to the guildmate. Told him that he needed to grow the pet to get it big enough to mount. He could not get the pet to gain xp at all. Even using the pet grouped andattacking his level of mobs.

I figured it was because he wasn't a CH and took the pet back to grow myself. Works fine for me.

So my theory is: Pets can only get training xp if used by a CH.

Confirmed this as well - my husband's pets don't get pet xp ... but Cin IS a Creature Handler and knew that ... therefore weirdness ...

That is wierd, I just figured that Cin wasn't a CH (not in sig)

Gorgeous sig she has tho 'spose there isn't room to put everything init that she does ... naw - if you read HER original post at the top of this thread, says Cin is a novice CH and the pet that refuses to cooperate is a level 12

Hey - actually Cin - i've been assuming that you are female for ages based on your sig and your posts but it's real frustrating not to know the gender of the people you know best on the forums since you have to avoid pronouns ...

Finally got the BE CL10 dewback to take a saddle although the saddle is bigger than the poor little dewback. I had to store and call the pet several times before the option popped up in the training window. Fully a half hour after the CL10 carrion spat took a saddle. Both had the same xp count and I did not fight them against anything else after the spat became mountable. Perhaps the server couldn't keep track of two mounts at once.

Why do all these weird things happen to me?
