Thread: Arthur's Mother Of All Pricing Threads *your help needed*

Arthur,

I'm not talking about your pets specifically. I'm sure they are great and a wonderful value, and leave your customers with plenty of extra credits to buy that wookie life day orb they saw on the Bria trade board.

Anyhow, looking at your compiled numbers or rate sheet, you list a custom CL10 pet for 50k. I'm going to assume that by custom, you mean I can have it in any CL10 skin, any special attack combination, specific resistsand a ranged attack (or not).

Now, let's say you get an order for a pet that is CL10 or less, 5% energy and 5% kinetic, strong disease and intimidate specials and no ranged attack. Since there isn't any creature in the wild that has this special combination, you're going to have to use your 1st gen combine to get that result. After that, you are going to have to sample down to get the CL level just right and it's going to be trial and error. Factoring in travel costs (3000 credits each way to Endor and back for example), you are barely turning a profit for your time if you sell this pet for 50k. Maybe you enjoy making pets so much that just the exercise of creating it is rewarding enough, I don't know. I'd say in that case, give it away for free. I personally want to make money as a BE so I can afford all the goodies in the game I want to buy. I also value my time.

The bottom line is that even if you created the perfect rate sheet for people to use as a reference and our correspondent stickied it, we would still see posts asking what a pet is worth the same way we still see requests for grinding sampling and every other thing.

I stand by my original advice: check other pet shops, consult previous auctions, consider the value of your time,combine these three factors and consult the magic 8-ball. I certainly meant you no offense sir.

Cheers-

maybe if you just tried to ask for how people price....instead of actual pricing examples...?

one pricing method could be quality (resists, hams, special attacks, etc.)
another could be resource costs (on pets include travel, buffs, etc.)

both of them could have a wider variety of variations and formula's...and backed up by reasons/explanations. might be helpful for newer BE's (decided to pick up BE myself...not sure if I'll make pets...but this kind of info would definately be helpful)

Arthur, relax, we ALWAYS wrangle with each other on these forums. Any thread ceases to be something you have control of once you hit submit and there are some very interesting views here in addition to the useful data that you were seeking

For me as someone who is not yet master I charge 10 cpu and don't do pets

Pet Pricing

============================

Hesitant to touch this. I price my pets depending on how well certain types/level sell. Granted higher level ones will be priced higher as they are harder to make, but if I stock some highly desired lvl 25 pets of some type you can bet they won't be priced low. In general I tend to price pets a bit higher than most BEs, as I value my hands-on time spent making them a lot. The highest I will go is 100k a pet, the lowest is 15k.

Pet Stim Prices:

============================

Pet Stim B 30/800: 2500 each, 120k a crate, for 38/785+ stims. (Naritus fungus is never great, but my components rock)

Pet Stim C 30/1000: 3500 each, 165k a crate, for 38/1100+ stims. 3000 to 3400 each for 900 to 1100 heal.

Pet Stim D 30/1500: do not stock.

Pet Vitality Packs:

============================

Pet Vitality A (average): 1200 each.

Pet Vitality B (average): 2000 each.

Pet Vitality C (average): do not stock. Even B's are more than the average pet needs.

Tissues:

=============================

Gonna re-do this one a bit...

Tailor Tissues - 100k a crate, nothing lower than +14.

...using Milk, Egg, or Mullosk - 125k a crate.

Chef Additives - do not sell to public.

I only do pets.

AR0 Pets Any Level 20k-80k Depending on Stats/Resists/Scarcity of DNA

AR1 Pets LVL 22-35 100k-200k Stat Dependant

AR1 Pets LVL 36-60 150k-250k

CL 10 "formula" pet:

All my CL10 pets are 30k as I stick to the dasher/pup combo only.

Anything over CL60 is going to be a nice chunk of change. Dont like doing em since they offer little advantage over what I can make easily at CL50ish. I would guesstamate that my CL60+ pets run 10k-20k per CL

I think that it looks like the majority of the BEs are selling their tissues way to cheap. It might be because of server competition etc, but really, do you think its fair to sell a tissue for 2-2.5k to a tailor that then takes 15-20k earning 12.5-17.5k for the item when you earn 1k?

I just take 5k for em all cause I am to lazy atm to care, and I mainly sell to a friend who is mainly interested of a regular supply of the stuff, and he gladly pays me 5k for each tissue since he knows he is earning 10k with each tissue he sells, so he still earns alot.

Just think about it, even if money has little to no value at all in this game, there is no reason to let other crafters use us as their slaves.

i charge less for my novice ch pets than i do for my nonch pets

also for custom orders it depends on how much work it takes into it...... whenever anyone asks me how much a pet is going to be, i tell them it depends on the final stats

i usually give a good discount for polite customers and will overcharge for the annoying customers who want ridiculous pets and get pissed off when i tell them i try not to exploit this profession

in regards to chef supplements, i don't make light, but mediums go for 1k usually, and heavy go for 2k

i charge more if i had to pay more for the meat/milk/etc.

for pet stims i use the power * charges / 10 unless it's a pet stim D and i just charge a bit more, usually p*c/5

for tissues i charge (avg of stat bonus) * 500cr

for taming tissues (avg of stat bonus) * 1k

for tensile resist, i use the highest stat instead of the avg * 500cr

Don't be discouraged, Arthur. I found the thread to be very informative. Just because not everyone agrees with charging based on level, doesn't mean this thread wasn't extremely helpful to me. I'm just now becoming a BE and I'm completely lost. I remembered seeing this thread a couple of weeks ago before I made my BE when I was looking for tissue information for my tailor. I've been searching for it for the past two days, and I'm glad I finally found it. It's been very helpful to see what BEs tend to charge for various products.

I believe Arthur'spoint was to encourage BE's from all servers to post their pricing structure. That way, if a new user/shopper were to stop in and see the thread, he/she may encounter a BE from their prospectiveanswer the question. I fail to see how anyone missed that point. /shrug

I agree with Mr Poker (and Arthur).

There's nothing wrong with getting some discussion going on who charges what and where.

When a newbie BE makes their first pet their first thoughtis "WOW! How cool is that!!"

Their second though about 20 seconds later is "God, how muchdo Icharge for it??" )

Here are my prices:

Pets :

Depends on cl and stats. I don't really have a set price for them. I go with my gut feeling and set the price at what I think people would buy them for. Plus, I look around and see what other BE's are selling similiar pets for, which is usually too cheap imo. But to not be undersold, I have to markdownthe price to the other BE's level or risk not getting any sales or be known at the "expensive" BE shop. It sucks selling too cheap, but I'd rather get cheap sales coming in than no sales at all.

Pet Stims:

Pet stim B's : 2000-2500 per,100k- 125k per crate of 50

Pet Stim C's : 3000-3500 per, 150k- 175k per crate of 50

Pet Stim D's : Haven't made them yet

Pet Vitality Packs:

Pet Vitality A : 2000 per, 10k crate of 5

Pet Vitality B : 3000 per, 15k crate of 5

Pet Vitality C: Don't make them

Tissues: (These are the only ones I make, so far)

Micronutrient Supplements +50: 25k per crate

Broad Spectrum Nutrients +85: 40-45k per crate

Intelligent Nanonutrients +115: 60-65k per crate

Argh, I shouldn't post msgs when I'm sleepy. I meant to say that prospective shoppers may be able to find BE's from their server and get a feel for the prices there. I mean, economies vary from server-to-server.
