Pet Pricing
============================
What are your prices for the following (if your prices vary depending on stats and so forth, give an estimated average value)
Definitions:
"formula" means pets that you make and put on your vendor, with no specific customer requesting it.
"custom" means a customer has come to you and made very specific requests in terms of one or more stats.
CL 10 "formula" pet: 30k
CL 10 "custom" pet: 50k
CL 11-20 "formula" pet: 40k
CL 11-20 "custom" pet: 50k
CL 21-30 "formula" pet: 40k
CL 21-30 "custom" pet: 50k
CL 31-40 "formula" pet: 50k
CL 31-40 "custom" pet: 60k
CL 41-50 "formula" pet: 50k
CL 41-50 "custom" pet: 60k
CL 51-60 "formula" pet: 50k
CL 51-60 "custom" pet: 60k
CL 61-70 "formula" pet: N/A
CL 61-70 "custom" pet: 75k
CL 71-80 "formula" pet:
CL 71-80 "custom" pet: (just a little BE humor here, lol)

I am not listing my pet prices since I dont find it relevant to base prices on levels. Pets prices needs to based on their stats, their level is more or less irrellevant. Only thing that is interesting with level is if its a duo, a trip or a single pet.
My petprices do range from 50k up to 1m thou.
An overall note is that way to many BE are selling their stuff WAY to cheap, compared to what other proffessions are earning from their stuff.
Why would you want to sell a Tissue for some BE clothes for 2.5k that the Tailor in his turn sells the item for 15-20k? He has way less material cost than you, and ears 10 times what you do? Does that seem fair?
People really need to increase their prices on items used by other crafters, cause you are getting ripped off.

Hmm, Cant seem to edit my post, but I used wrong formula on my chef tissues, so just wanted to update the prices... (multiplied it by 2 by misstake)
Pet Pricing
============================
There is too much variation between pets for me to charge per CL. How can a CL 22, AR0, 3300 HAM, 20% resist pet compare to a CL 22, AR1, 6k HAM, 55% resist pet?
Pet Stim Prices:
============================
I'm still hashing out the BECalc 2.0 formulas for this, but currently (times 25 for crate):
Pet Stim B 15/600: 900

Pet Stim C 30/1000: 3750
Pet Stim D 30/1500: 5625

(I'm guessing at the Micro and Int Nanos as I haven't made any and haven't got a "feel" for the bonus ranges yet. I charge a base price of 900 for BSN plus 50cr per tissue per point over 80. Everythin else, apart from Pet Stims, is cost plus 50% plus "some" for bonuses over a certain pointbreak).

Really? Nah, I'm with Arthur on pet prices.
Couple of hours on Dant yesterday. 40 DNA samples.
4 CL 10's and 4 mid level 21-30's. Total costs: 3 hits of brandy, 4K in travel, 1K cloning, maybe 2K in resources. Bout 1K per pet plus time and effort. 200K return. (200K to buy furniture with, lol)
Hate grinding so Don't make tissues except for friends who give me the resources. Use the surplus in making pets. Don't charge them for the tissues.
If this were monopoly, I'd play differently...
For chef tissues I start with 5 cpu for flora or other harvester gathered resources, 15 cpu for hand gathered. That gets me a low ballpark and people are offering twice that for crates. If I make a particularily good run I usually auction it off.
For stims I use (power * charges)/10. I only use vitality packs as giveaways when I sell pets (which isn't too often).
Ah well, I tried /sigh
This thread has had very little participation and degenerated into a pricing debate. Oh well.
As far as pet prices, well, I still hold the (somewhat mistaken) theory that a CL is derived from the stats (aside from bugs in the formula) therefore there is no such thing as a "good" CL 20 and a "bad" CL 20. All you are in fact doing is making tradeoffs. That said, if I make a pet that I don't think is compelling it never sees its way to my vendor anyway, so I disregard those in my pricing. I can't imagine why I would charge more for a pet with lowerHAM and higher damage than I would for a lower damage higher HAM pet though, so I do it by CL. Or why I would charge more for crippling strike then I would for poison for example.

I think there isnt any real guide for pricing, but thats all part of the fun!
Trying to use someone else's guide to price your goods is asking for trouble.
im steerin clear of any but creatures for the time being ![]()
my pricing plan is as follows:
1-15 = 5k
16-20 = 10k
21-25 = 15k
26-30 = 20k
31-35 = 25k
36-40 = 30k
41-45 = 40k
46-50 = 50k
51-55 = 60k
56-60 = 70k
61-65 = 80k
66-70 = 90k
made a batch of 114 intelligent nutrients, trying to figure out how much to sell them for ![]()
Arthur,
Noble attempt, really, but there are a few forces at work here that make this excercise irrelevant.
1. For stims and tissues, variances in server economies. Simply put, the same +taming tissue on Bria sells differently than it does on Bloodfin. This is influenced by the number of active BEs on any given server, the quality of their work, the number of tailors/chefs/etc. available to buy the products, and whether or not there is some jacka-ss selling schematics for 10k.
2. The complexity of BE Pets preclude the categorization you have designed. What you've attempted to do is create a pricing guide for cars. The problem is there are subcompacts, compacts, mid-size, full-size, sports, luxury, SUV, wagons....and we haven't even talked about import vs. domestic ormercedes vs. kia yet. It's just not realistic to try to create a universal guide for pets that are all custom creations. I suppose if one wants to crank out run-of-the-mill pets, a guide might apply, but it will never work for the high end market.
In the end, the best way to price your goods and services is to survey your competitors' products and prices, scan the trade forums and pay attention to auction results, and simply ask yourself how you value your time. Combine those three and consult the magic 8-ball and you're all set. ![]()

Wasn't trying to create a guide, just compile some numbers to give newcomers some ideas. This is after all exactly what they are asking for. So I guess we're back to having a new thread on this topic every other day. /sigh.
I just can't bring myself to price pets based on nebulous things like the color of the pet though, lol, sorry. Oh, and I'll proudly compare my creations to anyones. Just because I don't feel like shaking all the change out of my customers pockets doesn't mean my pets are "run-of-the-mill". That's a silly statement.
Pricing based on auction results? Oh geez. If I did that I'd be selling all my clothing for 100k and my pets for 1mil. Then all I'd be doing is contributing to the rediculousness and damaging my reputation. I can't imagine a worse way to price things than that.
Oh well, I am very sorry I attempted such a thing. Next time I'll know better and keep my mouth shut. We'll see how long it takes before the next newcomer comes to the forum and requests ideas on pet pricing though.
