Thread: Hard Data on City Research specialization and how it affects crafting
Szordin wrote:Is there an easy way to tell what type of bonus your player city decided to take?
Can you simply walk into a research city and obtain those same bonuses or do you have to have a residence there?
For example, if my city is not a research city...can I hop a shuttle to one that is and find someone's public house with a nice crafting station to create schematics?
When u enter a city via shuttleport or crossing the city limits boundry you get a message in your sparcial chat that says. "You have entered (city name) (city size) (specializtion) "
in the advanced guides under player cities where it tells about the specialization it says
Quote:
Research Center - 125k credits / week Any experimentation done within a 'Research Center' is enhanced. A 15% bonus to the final result roll is added during the experimentation phase of crafting.

I think the operative words here is "any experimentaton"
Good job - five stars.
Posts like this make the specialisations worth having!
Yours,
"Does anyone know how much of a difference there is in crafting when using a driod vs. a food crafting station? Lets assume both are the best quality and effectiveness that can be made."
Highest Droid Crafting Station Functionality Rating - 15
Highest Basic (without optional components) Private Crafting Station -30? (..it's been a while)
Highest Adv (with optional components) Private Crafting Station- 50 (also an educated guess, my highest is 43.017 with perfect copper, 98% storage units, 92% MSS and 96% CU if memory serves).
Highest Crafting Tool Functionality Rating - 15 (using perfect 1000 cond metal)
So, since the functionality rating is supposed to help determine the chance for good/great/amazing success during the experimentation phase of crafting,by looking I'd say only use a droid for single item crafts in the field even with a good tool since the bonus would only be +30. It sounds like the best adv station/tool inside a research center would reach 50+15+15 or 80. Of course I doubt serious crafters are using droids to make most schematics anyway.
I usually use my driod when I need to make something quick without a crafting station.
All of my equipment is of excellent quality, including my driod but wasnt aware if there was a significant difference. Thanks for the info!
Thanks!
thats great work there... 5 stars from me and have made a link to this thread on my guild boards.
thanks heaps for doing this.
But there is a wide range of experimentation results than great (I usually discard all crafting attempts if I get anything less than great success), moderate success, good success, minor failure etc.
Either you list all those experiments as "critical failures" (should be more than or you have not included those in your stats. I think those should be included. Getting more great results is a very important factor.
