I wouldn't say that carnivore meat is "not totally in demand". Bivoli is a pretty popular item. It's just generally easier to get that type in large stacks due to Rancor hunts. Maybe a better term would be "currently well supplied". And if the spawning Dath carnivore meat is low quality, that supply (at least as useful ingredient) could dry up for a period.

Other than that, looks great. And it's entirely possible that my evaluation of popular / low sale items is out of whack. I think I'm a pretty good chef, but I'm not that good of a Merchant.

First there needs to be a difference in resources for BE tissues that a chef uses(many chefs here also have BE or someone that makes tissues for them) and the resources a chef uses in food.

For BE tissues, OQ/PE/FL all have equal weight(at least for the chef tissues). The highest demand by far is for nutrional tissues. Mainly because of the bonus but also because of how much easier they are to make than all the other tissues. They only require flora and meat or milk. Meat is my preference as I can usually buy more of it.

For Chef foods

Bone - Only OQ and DR Matter. OQ is by far the most important but high DR is nice secondary stat.

Hide - Same exact thing has Bone. The only specific one that I tend to use is Bristley hide. 90% of the hide I've used though has been any type. I believe Scaley is also specific but I haven't made any food with it.

Meat

Biggest need I would say is Carn meat. A few reasons for this. First it is probably the easiest to get in quantity and therefore will be the cheapest. I go through more mean per week than most doctors do. There is no way I can pay 50+cpu for meat for foods in mass production.

Most of the meat I use falls under the BE category though(80% or it I would say). The rest is mainly used in Bivoli. PE is first, OQ second and then DR. FL is important but higher DR means I can get 3 charges easier, the slightly higher duration with better FL is something I can live without.

Someone mentioned Herb meat above. I haven't made this food, but I can see its uses. The biggest issue with Herb and Avian meat is that most chefs will not compete with Docs and their prices. This is why I tend to stick with Carn meat. BEs rarely have a use for huge amounts of it(100k's). And it tends to be fairly easy to collect. 20-30k of dath carn for a Ranger is easily possible in an hour or 2.

Milk - High PE is more important to me than OQ(66% PE 33% OQ is buff size). Buff size seems to be the major selling point. 1-2 more filling doesn't seem to make much of a difference to most people. DR would be third. I don't believe FL comes into play in most recipes that use milk(at least not Blue Milk and Smugglers Delight which seem to be the most popular).

Herbivore meat is also used for scrimpi (+quickness) and that's a nice choice of food for pistoleers who don't want to spend money on doctor buffs all the time... since their specials draw the action pool fast.

Carnivore meat is by far the easiest to get, as noted above, because of rancor valley. I've noticed that if the flora used for making the BE additives is really high, the meat that is used is kinda negligible. Since good flora is very easy to stockpile, providing any amount of mediocre carnivore meat, in stacks of 5-20k, to a chef would be helpful if that chef needs to buy BE additives. I'm a BE, so whenenver someone has meat for me, I first look at the stats (additives are 33% pe, oq, flav) and unless they are shockingly low, which is odd, I'll buy it if the stack is 5k or more, though I personally prefer 10k. Why 10k? Because it translates into 500 nutrition additives (666 if the additives are light), and having 500 additives is 20 crates of food/drink. Myself, even though one of my accounts is a Master Ranger, I go through meat like mad so I still buy it on occasion (usually from guildies who know I pay well enough for them to bother).

Personally, depending on your combat skills of course, I'd just stake out rancor valley and slaughter rancors and kwis. People will buy the meat, the larger the stack, the more competition. If you tried, you could easily gobble up around 100k meat from running through rancor valley over and over, the spawn rate there is NUTS. Good luck with your FAQ and it's always nice to see a Ranger, we seem to be few and far between nowadays.

Just something to add if you're writing a Ranger FAQ:

There are some Chef foods that can benefit you greatly. Jawa Beer will increase your Maskscent ability, Terrata buffs Camoflage, Dweezl improves Trapping, and Veghash gives a bonus to your Harvesting ability. I've personally benefited from the Beer to help me sample better as a BE, and heard good feeback on the Harvesting bonus.

So keep those in mind when writing your FAQ, and when hunting for the supplies to sell to Chefs!

What I've posted right now is just the listing of what important information there is to help Rangers understand their customers. I've included (specifically in the Chef section) a list of the foods that benefit the Ranger and Scout classes and offered up the option of looking for trade when considering sales. Thanks for the suggestion though. I was pretty shocked and very happy to see some of the things that were added to the Chef's aresenal and am already hunting down a few prospective cheg's to supply me.

Greetings Professional Tailors,

I'm working on a project for the Ranger/Scout community to set up a sense of what types of rewources can be sold to what professions. I understand that the Tailors out there are in need of certain organic resources, but in my travels I've yet to discover how significant the traits of each organic resource are. Similiary if stats are important I've yet to figure out which ones.

I've been experimenting with a Tailor on one of my alternate characters and have looked through some of the guides that are posted above but I still have a few questions.

Essentially I guess the best question to ask is what do you need from Rangers? Besides Wooly Hide what resources are useful, in what quantity, and to what degree do stats make the harvests useful?

I'd appreciate any help people might volunteer. I'm really hoping that this might help facilitate the transfer of important resources between our profession.

Of course I could be wrong... I guess its possible that many tailors supply their own organic resources. I'm just trying to accurately represent your needs to a profession that might not understand what you're looking for.

Thanks in advance for any help. It's greatly appreciated.

Usually I get my hides from scouts, rangers, and armorsmiths. I say "and armorsmiths" because usually they have stacks of hides around, and as they upgrade when better spawns come around, I'm happy to take the rejects off their hands.

Anyway here's a list

  • wooly hides

  • bristley hides

  • any hides

  • naboo scaley (small amounts)

  • tat wooly (small amounts)

  • bone (small amounts)

In general it's nice to have a 1k stack or more so we don't end up wasting odds and ends, and don't have storage issues, but unlike armorsmiths we don't do large factory runs, so we don't need a huge 30k stack of one type of hide. Around 5k is ideal, and 10k is a miracle. For the things I use in small amounts (such as naboo scaley and tat wooly, and bone) nothing gives me more joy than getting one 5k stack, which I can put in my tailoring pack, and I don't have to think about that resource for a couple months.

No stats matter except for wookiee pillow components. However, I get the feeling that the majority of the tailors aren't doing these items. These are basically like armor segments, so think "armor sized stacks" and "armor quality stats" (OQ/SR, and to a lesser extent UT). These would take wooly hide, and regular hide. To be honest, probably an armorsmith would buy these hides and then take them to a tailor for a schematic.

If the wooly hides make an armoursmith drool, then that's the stuff for wookie pillows. Otherwise, the best thing for us is worst quality stat hides you have. The stuff you were just going to destroy because it was not worth selling or dump on the bazaar for cheap.

I usually keep a 500 unit stack of bone on me... and that lasts me weeks. But for hides, I keep a 100k stack of rancor hides (that's just me though)as they are dropping huge amounts of hide, and I usually have to run fast to harvest them all before the corpses disappear on me. About 1k of naboo scaley and tat wooly are fine. Maybe 500 bristly hides.

be sure to check the bio engineer boards for the meat requirements.

If i remember correctly, some additives for foods take wild meat, others take any meat, but the quantities.. 30,000 for a full run of heavy additives, 25000 for a run of medium... a lot of meat is used quickly in additives.

Not all chefs use additives, those that do get a better product, at a higher price.

While there are limited uses for Reptilian and Herbivore meats, I think from a Chef standpoint 95% of the meat we use is carnivore. It's by far the easiest meat to obtain so it is used for all general "meat" requirements (read: BE tissues), as well as specifically in Bivoli, itself the best selling meat product I have. You should be looking in two directions with carnivore meat:

1) BE tissues (OQ + PE + FL)
2) Bivoli (2*PE + OQ, with DR being important for those of us whose customers recognize the value of a third use)

Of the remaining 5% of the meat I use, 4.9% of it is Insect for Vercupti.
Insect Meat: follow the Bivoli rule

As far as Hide/Bone goes, we Cheffies care about OQ a lot, almost exclusively. DR also contributes to our food, but not in nearly as significant a manner. Garrmorl requires Scaly Hide specifically, w a pretty unusual resource to see for sale, so you could probably make a favorable impression on your local Chefs by having it available.

For milk, we can't afford to care about quanlity too much with sufficient sized stacks of milk being so rare. Also, one of milk's main uses is in a component (bantha butter), for which quality simply doesn't matter. So, while a high PE and OQ would be desirable for blue milk (or OQ + DR if they fix the recipe), you're better off milking 10k terrible stuff than 5k with average stats.

Above all else, you must realize Chefs deal in bulk. I want a supplier to have stacks of 5k+ milk and Insect Meat, and to deal in truly large stacks of any other resource.

I don't know about everyone else but just wanted to say that I really like it when I can trade clothing for hide. (That could just be me, though)

I'm getting to the pointwhere that might be my suggestion for Rangers / Scouts. I'm going to recommend that all low quality harvests of wooly and bone either be offered up in Coronet or used to barter for clothing. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I'll drop a line once I've finished the final Tailor section.
