The knowlegeable CHs all know that BE pets are inferior to wild pets, ultimately, just like wild pets were inferior to BE before the CU. The reason for that is that BE pets come with a "blank slate" of specials, while wild pets come with innate abilities that, while they do take up an ability slot, do not require prerequisites for L2 or L3 specials.

That is, you could train a BE pet with Self Sacrifice L1, 2, and 3, and take up 3 slots, or just go out and tame a wild pet with Self Sacrifice L3 (and technically, if you could train it, you have a pet that has it already) and reserve those 2 other slots for something more useful and less redundant.

You're forgetting the fact that BE pets still hit twice as fast as any wild pet. Though they may not start with a free special, this one ability can more then make up for it if you train them right. A high damage BEtrio all trained in the right kinds of damage oriented specials would utterly rock!

As a Master CH on my main character and a newbie BE on my Alt I would like to add some thoughts to this discussion from a MCH perspective. I have been MCH since Oct. 2003 just FYI.

As far as BE pets, I know I will want several BE pets for specific uses. Some of these uses are as follows:

1) A set of twin CL35 pets with high Health and as high Damage as possible. Yes there are some wild pets out there that can fit the bill on this. However I am uncertain at this point whether or not wild or BE pets are going to be better for this given the new specials we have. So I am gonna want a set of BE twins and a set of Wild twins to compare them. I think in the end I'll be going with the BE twins.

2) A set of Triplets i.e. 2 CL23 and 1 CL24. Same reasons and thoughts as stated in number 1 above.

3) A CL70 pet with as much Health, Damage, Armor, State Resists etc. as possible. In other words a big 'ol honkin meat shield of a tank!

With all that said there ARE some wild pets that BE's are NOT gonna be able to compete with. These are the rarer harder to find pets that have some innate abilities such as blind, dizzy, stun etc as natural AOE attacks. These abilites are seperate from the new Specials that were recently released. An example of this is the Stoneskin Hanadak or the Bloodseeker Beetle Queen (name may be a bit off on that one). However that's only 1 or 2 pets in MCH stable. Still leaves PLENTY of room for BE pets and the quest pets from Kashyyyk.

I don't think BE pets are obsolete in the least! I know I'll still be wanting them and I suspect a fair number of other CH's will as well.

BE pets that I can customize with the Specials I want on em? Hot Dang! Let me at em!!!!!!!!!!
